Okay. >> And it was It's very easy trigger. And I accidentally pulled it when I was pulling pulling it back to check the chamber to see if there was any bullets in it and I didn't know that there was and I just easily pull it. Okay. >> So, um, just stay right here. >> Hannah was set on her story, but there was something off about it. So basically, she's stating that she had the gun in the bedroom, was checking it, and the gun went off and and shot him. >> That's all she's given right now, and that's all she can say. >> The ambulance came for Telvin. Every second that passed was critical. This head It's getting scooted up a little bit. >> Can you see? [snorts and laughter] Ready? One, two, three. >> [snorts] [snorts] >> Inside, officers combed through the bedroom, gathering evidence. [music] But the more they looked, the more questions they had. Oh, she said [music] 21, but yeah, I should just said 27. [music] So, I'm guessing I'm looked at the side of the building. I'm trying to figure out where [music] this happened at where the bullet hit him in the chest. He not that I can see, but I didn't do a full sweep. But um [music] top left right here. >> So I'm saying he didn't go far. So he probably [snorts] [music] 8614. [music] >> I want to do something. Even though Hannah claimed everything was fine before the shooting, the state of the room suggested otherwise. >> But you know how she said [music] she said that her baby was playing with the gun >> gun? You see fingernails right there and fingernails right there. should [music] pressure on the non bleeding one. [music] Switch up. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> I got it right here. [music] >> Yeah. You can walk a couple [snorts] [music] of you can always [music] >> [music] >> still >> [music] [music] >> Jackson ports to the right. So that's possible right here. Yeah, that's exactly what happened. And maybe some of her story of she thought it was on safety when she was pointing at him. It's possible. She said, >> but could potentially be involuntary manslaughter, but for this moment, >> she going for Especially if there's an altercation involved. >> That's what I was about to say. All these trailers got >> actually really nice. >> No, no, no. I just like most of the houses we go in there holes. He was a non noncleared per [music] uh employee I guess cuz he's got no clearance right there and then that means he's got to have someone with me at all times. That's exactly what happened. >> Get [snorts] away from me. Get away from me. Oh crap, guys. It wasn't [music] on safety. Yeah. [music] [music] Oh yeah. >> [snorts] >> I think these ones don't have them on the slide. They [music] just have them on. >> Based on the crime scene, the officers [music] believed the situation had unfolded very differently than what Hannah claimed. >> Um, she didn't out of spontaneous utterance admit that it was a G2C. I'm assuming it's a Taurus. >> I see. >> So, it's inside. >> Yeah. Uh, we buy a bag. Uh, it got a green um, like a mint green handle to it. >> I guess >> No, I'm telling you. >> It was a Taurus G2C. >> That's what she said. Yeah. >> What color you said it was? >> It's a black top. Um, mint green he >> Hey, Miss Cobb. >> Yes, sir. >> Can you just put your hands out here for me? >> Yes, sir. >> Flip them back over. >> Yes, sir. Can I see your thumb? >> Yes, sir. >> I had fake nails on. I just took them off. >> Okay. >> One second, Hannah was calm. Almost too calm. And in the next, she would burst into tears and be inconsolable. >> Baby, please. Oh, what? What is it? What is this condition? Can somebody tell me something? >> They'll be able to know more once they get you down there. >> We don't know yet. Okay. >> It's going to be a while. Oh my god, he's going to be a while. >> They have to go down there to the hospital and they have to do things down there in order to try to help him. >> I'm sorry. >> There's a lot of stuff they can do now. >> It was an accident. It was an accident. It was your >> Please stand up. >> Yeah, you can stand right there next to the door. >> Do you want some water or something? I got some water in the car. No, >> sir. Okay. I swear to God I would hurt my baby. I swear to God. It wasn't be okay. He's going to be okay. He's going to be okay. God, he's going to be okay. God, he's going to be okay. He's going to be okay. Kelvin didn't make it to the hospital. He passed away on route. Hannah was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. >> We just going to want to try to get a basic >> understanding >> understanding of what happened. >> Yes, SIR. >> Is he alive? Please let me tell you. We we'll get to that um in a second. How can we get to So on the way home, did y'all talk about anything? You >> not just singing? I mean, we were just we was just riding really. Like I said, I I mean, I had had a couple of drinks, so I was just kind of ready to get home. No argument or nothing. >> Did y'all um stop anywhere else other than um dropping your friend off at Hampton on Washington Road? He went straight on. >> Yes, sir. >> Um, >> did Ton do anything else when y'all got home or what? What did he do? >> He went back outside to get something out of his truck or something, but by the time he come back, I was done like washing my face and all that stuff. And that was it really. We He was about to start washing his face and getting undressed as well. And he's standing in the doorway or right outside of the doorway where >> uh the bathroom doorway. >> Bathroom doorway. Yes. >> Do you remember? I guess you might have it on there about what time did I get home? >> It had to have been around 3 3:30 at the latest. Maybe pushing four, but I was not looking at the time. I'm not sure. >> And I wasn't on my phone, so I don't know. Um uh let's see. I did grab I did get a bottle of water. I did brush my teeth. I did wash my face. I took all my makeup off. I wasn't paying attention to him really. We wasn't really talking like that. Like it was just just a normal day like in the house. >> Uh I think he was sitting on the bed. He might have been on his phone or something. He wasn't really talking. When I got up, I turned around to grab my gun off that black thing that was right there. I always put my purse there. As soon as I come home, I put my purse right there. I take my gun out typically and I put it on the dresser until it gets time to go to bed because I have two children. Before we go to bed, we always check our pistols. Like I was telling you, I know you're not supposed to, but we do keep we do keep a pistol. I mean, a We do keep a bullet in the head at night. I've been a part of a robbery. I have It's just something that we do. His goes on his goes on the dresser. Mine goes on the nightstand beside the bed. I wasn't looking. I wasn't I just I don't know. It just all happened so fast. And then I took the clip out, put it back in, pulled it back, and my hand was my hand was on the trigger. I don't know why. I I don't know why. And I I just pulled it back to put one in the head. >> I just You were standing there. >> I was standing in the bathroom, the doorway of the bathroom. Like it went it was right there. Picked it up. Bam. Bam. Pull back. And he was coming to me right then. like he was walking about to come into the bathroom right then to wash his face and brush his teeth, take his clothes off and it was just it was just it just happened right then. Just happened so fast and I just I don't know. It was my fault. It was my fault for not being safe for not being safe. That's my only That's my only excuse. I I wasn't safe here. Well, I'm out. So, I came in here and I I put you in here and and I went to the hospital to check on him. I was I mean, this is hard to do. >> He didn't make it. >> No, you're lying. You're lying right now, sir. The father of my kids. Oh my god. The only man I love. You had such a good time tonight. We had such a [music] good time. Oh my god. By the time she made it to court, the cracks in her story had split wide open. >> At the time, Miss Cobb's initial statement to deputies was that she and Mr. Osborne had been out that night. They had just arrived home and that she was checking her farm, which is a thing that she and Mr. Osborne did every night, and that the farm that she was holding accidentally discharged, striking Mr. Osborne one time in the chest. The farm itself was located near the bathroom door and one spent shell casing was recovered from inside the shower. Mr. Osborne was transported to the Burke Health Hospital where he died around 6:43 that morning. Um, Miss Cobb was interviewed by the investigators of the Burke County Sheriff's Office. It was a [snorts] two-part interview with an intermission between. In the first part, she indicated that they had been out at clubs in Augusta until around 2:00 in the morning. They had then taken a friend back to a hotel room and then her and Mr. Osborne had returned back to Burke County. And as they were getting ready for bed, she removed the magazine from a Ruger 9mm pistol, reloaded the magazine, and she stated that this is something she and Mr. Osborne both do every night after some sort of a prior home invasion [snorts] event that there there wasn't a lot of discussion about it but some prior event had precipitated that routine. She accidentally discharged the pistol striking Mr. Osborne in the chest and she did acknowledge apparently that she did tell the 911 dispatcher that she was cleaning the gun when it discharged and she acknowledged that that was an erroneous statement. An intermission took place and when questioning reconvened at this point, she acknowledged that she and Mr. Osborne had been arguing that night and that led to a physical altercation between the two of them. She discusses that she had a a ring camera and provided camera footage to the sheriff's office. Investigators notes recorded that the footage showed them arguing with her saying get out and him leaving the residence carrying clothing. She can then be heard saying I'm effing pissed. [snorts] Cob Hannah Cobb stated that Mr. Osborne pulled a knife on her and threatened her and told the investigators where this knife would be found. She then signed a permission to search for him and requested an attorney. At that point, the sheriff's investigators went back to the residence where they located this knife. It was an 8-in long black knife. >> Her version of events had changed, and the people closest to them admitted they'd seen this tragedy coming. >> Family members of Miss Cobb, when they were interviewed, described a somewhat chaotic relationship with Mr. Osborne, involving aspects of emotional and occasional physical abuse and allegations of cheating uh by Mr. Osborne. A friend of theirs stated she was at the club with Mr. Osborne and Hannah Cobb and that she had become upset because she believed that Mr. Osborne was talking to another woman. She indicated there were arguments at the hotel which gradually calmed down. And after they left, she received a call from Tevin Osborne and that they had discussed Hannah's assertion that Tevin would not be a good father for their children. There was another friend that was also at the club with them that generally described that evening along the same general terms. The victim's mother, Miss Shirley Anne Rakkins, was interviewed and she indicated that she had received one or more phone calls with Hannah, but starting around 5:10 that morning. And in this call, Hannah Cobb accused Mr. Osborne of threatening her with a knife. The mother indicated that she could hear them arguing and text messages from Mr. Osborne to Hannah Cobb began around 4:48 in the morning with messages including hide and you better [music] hide. There is camera footage from a nearby nearby resident of that mobile home park. At 4:13 it showed them arriving back from Augusta at 4:27. Tevin Osborne drives away from the residence. He returns at 4:56 in the morning. And then at 5:44, you can hear a single gunshot. One, one of the friends that was with him in Augusta that night was reinterviewed. This is about 5 days later, and she indicates that Hannah was afraid to go home that night and was afraid that Mr. Osborne was going to physically assault her. She indicated that she text Osborne threatening to hurt him if he was to hurt Miss Hannah. The friend encouraged them to calm down and stated that she did not want to have to drive Hannah back to Burke County at 4:00 in the morning. So, she basically let Tevin do that for her. She says that Hannah told her in the somewhere in the aftermath of this shooting. I'm not sure of the exact date that Hannah Cobb says that Telvin returned to the home with a knife that he broke in. He threatened her and he choked her and she managed to break free from him and went into a bathroom. She indicated that she was going to harm herself, but when he broke into the bathroom, she turned and fired the gun one time at Mr. Osborne. The hole in the wall police officers saw at the crime scene came from the fight that spiraled out of control, ending with a single shot that cost Telvin his life. In court, Hannah was recast as a battered woman, a survivor who claimed she never meant to pull the trigger. Telvin's family was ready for a full-blown murder trial, but they never got the chance to see it through. [music] On May 23rd, 2025, the Burke County Grand Jury returned a no bill, meaning they decided there wasn't enough evidence to formally indict her for Telvin Osborne's death. There are no charges against her, and unless new evidence surfaces, she will not face any jail time for pulling the trigger that night. Some believe that if the headline had been the other way around, Telvin wouldn't have been given the same mercy.
