MOVE. [screaming] GET OUT OF THE WAY. MOVE. MOVE. MOVE. ALL RIGHT, EVERYBODY. Welcome back. We got another video for you. This one comes from Midwest Safety, and it is when stealing your mom's car ends in disaster. I haven't seen it. Let's go. >> On August 2nd, 2023 in Oakwood, Georgia, police are called after a white Ford Explorer is reported stolen. But this isn't an ordinary incident. Earlier in the day, the same driver led officers on a pursuit in the same white Ford Explorer, which he had stolen from his own mother. >> So, you see how the vehicle's backed in like that. Um, I back in all the time, but look how far he backed in to hide the plate. Plus, you know, he's kind of in the parking lot thinking kind of off onto his own. He probably should have parked in a much more congested parking lot. But they're looking for this vehicle and now they get a hit on it and now they show up and here they are obviously trying to hide the plate. >> No, HE'S PUT IN GEAR. HE'S PUT IN GEAR. WATCH OUT. HE'S PUT IN GEAR. >> ON CAR NOW. >> OH, there he goes again. >> He's taking off the parking lot. >> Dang. >> Your incident has been updated. >> All right, we got a pursuit. >> Into Wendy's. He went He went into Wendy's. Went into Wendy's. Your incident has >> Oh, he went into the drive-thru at Wendy's. >> Your updated >> going right onto Monday Mill. Right onto Monday Mill. Smiley, get up here and pit him. >> Tag is AFA. AFA. >> White male, black shirt. >> I don't think he can close the door. I think the door He's trying to close the door. I think the door got damaged maybe when the uh the other uh patrol vehicle hit him when he was trying to leave. has been updated. >> Our [music] coming up on Mighty Mill Mighty Mo Drive. >> There we go. That looks like they're going to uh Oh, you're going to pit him in this traffic. Wow. >> Dang. HE'S JUST GETTING OUT OF THE WAY. MOVE. OH, it's let me tell you folks, it's so frustrating when you're trying to drive and the Ly sirens are on and this guy just drove through and scraped all your vehicles up and they won't move. Please, folks, when you hear the sirens on, please move over so that we can actually get by and go chase this guy. >> Oh my gosh. >> So frustrating. >> Move. [screaming] Go >> has been updated. >> Gosh dang people. >> Smiley, I'm behind you. >> This guy is not want to be caught. live stream. >> Yeah, that's right. >> Where the did my earpiece go, man? >> We're going to be in the number one lane, fast lane. >> When he ran through those vehicles, he might have actually got it cuz his door closed. It maybe forced the door closed. So >> routines are passing exit 14 now. They're attempting to pit. >> What's your speed? We're around 40 pit about 70 mph. >> Officers carefully evaluate the vehicle's speed as pit maneuvers at freeway speeds are often considered lethal force, similar to using a handgun. Lower speed pits, typically under 35 to 45 mph, are considered less lethal and fall roughly on the same use [music] of force spectrum as deploying a taser. Yeah, if you pit a vehicle like this at that speed that that Explorer is probably going to roll um and so yeah, it could be considered lethal force. Now, could you use lethal force in this situation? Well, I think you could argue that he presents a clear and present danger to the other people. He already was ramming vehicles to get away. He uh ran past a police a patrol vehicle that tried to stop him. So, you could say that his behavior could seriously injure somebody or kill somebody if they don't stop him. Um, so that vehicle is a deadly weapon the way he's driving it. And so, deadly force, while you don't want to have to use it, could be justified in this uh if they do. >> You're clear to spike. >> 619 clear to spike. >> Coming up on traffic, guys. Coming up on traffic. Still in number one lane. We're doing about 85 miles an hour. >> Coming up on the one mile to exit 12. >> So he's going to put stop sticks out. Man, you have to be so careful on this because when the vehicle we've seen a lot where they they actually will veer off and go straight towards the officer, the deputy putting out the spike strips or the trooper and go and hit them. The other thing you have to do is when you put it out, it can easily we've punctured the tires of other vehicles that were just around at the same time. And you don't want to puncture the via the the tires of the patrol vehicles either. So, um you got to be careful how you do this and and and do it effectively. >> 12 now. >> Coming up on exit 12 right now at about 85 mph. Traffic is medium. So, what he did, if you saw that, he walked it all the way across. So, this way he'll go back to the other side so that he can pull it to whatever lane this guy ends up trying to drive through. So, he put it on the far side in the grass. Now, he can pull it back to whatever lane they're in. >> 78 coming up on 128. >> Dang. All right, guys. I got clear. >> Okay, so it looks like it was a good uh uh spike. >> Let's see. [music] >> This might be the second set of spikes. 80 milesPH. >> Oh, >> dang. She's lucky they lucky they did not hit that car. >> This is dangerous. >> So, see what he did? He went to the other side. That's why how that is exactly why this is so dangerous for patrol officers, for troopers, deputies deploying spikes. He didn't want to hit the spikes again. So, what did he do? went all the way around onto the other side where the grass where the spikes weren't going to get it. >> Dang. >> Get him. The first thing >> this guy is very >> get him. >> Pit him. >> Go. >> 603. If you're good, I can try and pit him. >> Number two lane. Number two lane. >> So he was in a position to pit him, but they said negative. >> We're losing higher from the rear right. >> Cops in right. We got GSP closed by chance. >> Oh man, Georgia State Police, they don't mess around. >> Number one lane doing about 70 lane. >> He's about to bail on foot. Y'all watch out. He got a door open. >> Number one. >> There we go. There we go. >> Good pit. Go P. He's going to run off foot. Watch out. Watch out. Stop the car. Stop the car now. >> Get out of the car. >> Get out of the car. >> Be careful now. GET OUT OF THE CAR. [screaming] GET OUT OF THE CAR. >> WHAT'S he reaching for? >> There's a neighbor. >> Pull me out. Pull me out. Pull me out. Pull me out. PULL ME OUT. >> GET OUT OF THE [screaming] CAR. >> Get me out. Wow. >> You good? >> Good work. >> Give me this hand. Go ahead. Go ahead. >> Move this hand. >> Hey, put it in THE CAR. THE CAR. >> CLEAR THE CAR. CLEAR THE CAR. We are one mile from the exit side. >> Put your knees in now. >> Stand up. >> HEY, WHERE'S YOUR CAR? >> WHERE'S YOUR CAR? There you go. >> Hey, clear the car. Clear. I've said in the past, we have these we have these patrol vehicles when you when your sirens are on and you put it in park, the sirens stop, which is nice because then you don't have to fiddle around trying to put cuz this is when you're trying to deal with this and you got sirens blaring in the background. So annoying. You don't really hear it because you're so focused on it, but eventually when when the smoke clears and you kind of get the guy in custody, then you're like, "Hey, turn those sirens off." But uh they did a great job, man. Great job on the pit. Great job on avoiding traffic was everywhere. Cars were everywhere. People were pulling over on the left side of the road, the right side of the road. Uh just a total mess. And uh they did a good job of not hurting anybody else. Please. >> I got >> My camera has jumped off somewhere. >> Oh, that's right. No. What is that? >> No, I helped. >> That's somebody's guardian angel. >> Confirm location. >> I had a guardian angel. That's cool cuz you could turn on these little lights on it. It's It's a cool little tool. >> There you go. Put them in. >> Sit down, sir. All right. Pull >> your legs in. >> Pull your legs in. Huh? >> Pull them in. >> There's a bomb going to explode. You hear me? Huh? You hear me? >> There's a bomb. >> There's a bomb that's going to explode. So that immediately now you have to take that threat serious. And especially the way he was acting when he's like, "Get me out of the car. Get me out of the car." He's clearly a nut. >> Bomb is going to explode. Can't stop it. Now you hear me. >> Smiley right here. Sit up. Sit up, Mr. Walker. >> There's a bomb. >> There's no bomb. Stepped out. >> There is a There's a bomb that's going to go off. >> Step out of the car. >> There's a bomb fixed to go off. >> Not Not fixing to, but it's going to go. You want to know where it's at? >> No. >> Where's it at? I went to go look at his car. >> Only damage was done to the uh to the bush guard. Yeah. >> There's there's just a little bit of the front bumper hanging down, but that was one hell of a bit, buddy. But I make >> I was going to say sorry for uh I wasn't trying to be too too dangerous. I mean, >> I wasn't trying to be too dangerous. No, you were very dangerous. You were hitting other cars. You were high rate of speed. Uh you had zero regard for anybody. So, don't say you weren't trying to be too You weren't went totally off-road around the the second set of spikes. He was absolutely being dangerous. >> That's pretty dangerous, man. >> I just didn't want y'all to I just trying to drive kind of fast so you wouldn't hit me cuz I figured that's how it kind of works. >> Oh, you figured wrong, right? >> I mean, you you wait till my tires got hit. >> I'm glad no one got hurt. Huh? You know what I'm saying? I'm glad no one got injured. >> We know of. Yeah. We know you hit some people. >> I didn't hit uh Oh, yeah. I did hit a couple cars. Watch your foot. >> What? >> This guy, man. >> Hey, stop. Stop. >> It's very tight. >> We will fix it for you. But I swear to God, if you try to start anything, >> I'm not I promise you I'm not. >> Stop moving your arms like that. >> I'm trying I'm trying to get my >> Get off. Just like that. >> All right. >> Let's go. >> Okay. any water >> probe remover. >> Reposition my feet. >> Yes. >> He wants to go to the hospital. So I need to take him to the hospital right now. >> All right. We're going to fix these cuffs for you. But you're not going to resist us or you're not going to fight us. >> I'm going to let you know, brother. You try to fight. Try to run away. And my dogs and my dogs going to fight you this time. Okay. >> So he wants to go to the hospital. You're going to take him to the hospital. Plus, you tased him, you know, a handful of times. So you got to make sure you take him to the hospital. Make sure he gets cleared for that. >> You guys got We always get our people. >> Man, you guys, you guys did a little extra. But I deserve it. I can't. >> They did not do extra. Hey, go ahead and call list. >> Put it here. >> Michael Walker, 43 years old, was charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, [music] fleeing or attempting to elude police, obstruction of an officer, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, hit and [music] run, and one count of aggravated assault. Officers searched the stolen vehicle and found several alcoholic beverages inside, including some that had already been opened and [music] consumed, as well as one that was partially full. So, open container laws, not that this was the least of his problems, but if you have an open container in the center console, or if you have an open container in the back seat on the floorboard, you can get charged with open container in your vehicle. It doesn't matter if it was 6 weeks old, you can get charged with open container. um especially if you have in your direct control and if it's cold all of that that's going to indicate that there might be some impairment. I don't know if they char they ran him through FSTs. He might have been high on something or alcohol and he probably should have got a DUI too, but they already had so many other charges and it depends on how he was behaving whether they even ran him through that. >> The stolen vehicle was towed by Patterson's auto service after sustaining minor damage during the pursuit. >> Minor. >> You remained unchanged at $10,000. Michael Walker is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. >> Minor. That whole front end was jacked up. [laughter] I don't know about minor. The whole side of it got scraped up. Uh I would tires are jacked up. Well, the value of the vehicle may have remained the same. It's going to need some serious body work. Man, I thought these guys did a really good job. That was intense to watch because they're following it at a high rate speed. He's all over the place. um running totally disregarding any traffic laws, hits other cars, fleas. Uh this clearly is somebody who is a dangerous to society. Hopefully they put him in prison for a while. He deserves to be in prison, I think, for minimum 5 years for what he just did and for the danger the lives that he endangered by doing this. Let's hope they do that. Let's hope they hold him accountable. I'd love to know what you think. How did these guys do? How did the uh the the police officers do and and getting this guy catching him? I thought they did great and they pounced on him and they got tased him and which I always love when they especially when they run and they're they're putting people in danger. He got tased. They got him out there and uh bad guy went to jail. So, let me know what you think. Comment, like, subscribe, and I'll catch you on the next
