cops are tasked with upholding the law but what happens when legal professionals challenge their actions here are four times when cops who got educated by lawyers okay you both are under arrest for obstructing government operations government operation that's correct these are attorneys Victor Revel and Megan Garcia on February 23rd 2017 both attorneys were with their client Lloyd Edwards outside the state court where deputies Sue Ashworth and Brian Ratliff were serving a search warrant Edwards had already handed over his phone to the attorneys as the search warrant was for Edward's person and his car the attorneys refused to hand over the cell phone to the deputies this is when the situation spiraled out of control [Music] good morning welcome to the just you uh I'm from the Sheriff's Office look do you have any other weapons on your person at this time that I need know about our safe no sir in the car okay what do you have in an automobile small pistol okay your vehicle is also part of this CLE okay so I'm going to have to ask you do you have the keys to your automobile sir I need the keys to your right now let me pat you down make sure you don't have any other weapon just for your safety and [Music] ours okay just hang tight we get all this resoled all right you the warrants that you all have for his person that's correct and for his vehicle that's correct so he is given the phone that's on his person okay I have video of him handing the phone to you you handing the phone to her it's in the satel right now no you all do have that but that is not when you that was not on his person so you all are not entitled to that well all right then we'll go the other route to get that other phone all right you just got to F hey we're standing here and we we court acquitted both of them on this charge now Garcia and revil have filed a civil lawsuit against both deputies and the Blount County Sheriff Office for violation of their fourth amendment rights wife Jasmine Mr Revel was handed two of the three cell phones that Mr Edwards possessed as they left the court premises Mr Edward and the attorneys met officer Ashworth and several other cops from the Blount County Sheriff's Office who were there to present the search warrant for Mr Edward's vehicle and personal search watch how the interaction unravels uh I'm from the Sheriff's Office do you have carried proof that supported Mr Edward's innocence the warrant can only allow to search Mr Edward's immediate condition and his vehicle not his phones as he has already handed them over to the attorneys and the warrant did not mention searching of the phone watch how the interaction proceeds all right you got we're standing here and we have it on video that he handed his um cell phone to his attorney uh one and they handed it to another and it's in the Satchel that is right here well are we being a t at this moment in time they're not denying it we have an video detain you until we think oper [Music] that's this is definitely an onlaw for arrest but we're under arrest we're under arrest Mr Revel and Miss Garcia are handcuffed and arrested on the scene as they refuse to surrender the phones Mr Revel immediately labels the arrest to be unlawful watch how the interaction ends [Music] first you would make sure you don't have no weapon on your of course not okay just want to make sure we have it on video we have not we have not broken the law so if you're arresting us I'm arrest with me I'm being arrested for a strut govern operation that's correct let me take off this here uh under her [Music] orders yes sir okay Deanie Ry yes sir want I want to make sure that you know from our position our position was that this search warant this uh this warrant was given to him after he he gave us some some things about to use and hit the fence and so we did not could do anything to keep you all from doing you all's job now if you all want to thisal and go at the we not we not we're Notting sear on the from the moment he enter the courthouse he's been under surveillance okay for the reasons of this circum all right I sit here and watch you and him and her minutes you looked up you matter of fact you did look up at the camera two or three times he pulled the phone out hand it to you you hand it back to him he was fooling with I'm guessing a password and after a short period of time he hand it back to you you hand it to her she put it in here okay that is evidence for the search and and you agree with me that you all serve this search War subsequent to that after that right did after we left out the building yeah Mr Revel and Miss Garcia tried to argue for their rights but the cops charged them later both Mr R and Miss Garcia were acquitted and all the charges were dropped proving that the cops were wrong later miss Revel and Miss Garcia filed a civil lawsuit against the officers involved if you think this was the epitome of sheer stupidity by the officers that is because you have not heard about Sergeant blickley who got schooled by attorney Maran Bassie I kindly asked you to stop audio taping that's all I did okay you did okay and I said that I understand I'm a lawyer well versed in the law I'm have prosecuted cases under Federal and the Pennsylvania state wiretapping law I know that this is this is legal this is Sergeant Joseph blickley with the benum police department on February 20th 2010 Pennsylvania gun club members called police after two women were protesting with placards outside the gun club driveway against a live pigeon shooting contest little did the officers know that one of the women was an attorney Maran Bassie watch what happens when the dirty cop thinks he can get away with misquoting laws in the presence of an attorney so we the cameras off cuz it's illegal in Pennsyl it's not illegal yes it is I'm sorry you can ma'am you can videotape me but I'm asking you not to audio tape without my consent can you please do that well of parties involved it has nothing to do with recording in public freedom of press and recording in public is a constitutionally mandated right which cannot be waved off the officer realizing his tailormade explanation of laws won't work Retreats and asks the women to protest on the sidewalk do okay we cannot have you stand in the driveway here okay on this side of State Road where this is plowed cuz they've maintained it and they don't want you on the driveway okay if you want to stand on the other side of these snow Banks you can do that okay we're going to find out through the township exactly where their property line is but for right now we're going to ask you not to impede their traffic and not to stand in this driveway if you want to stand on the other side of State Road I can't tell you to stand on someone's private property if you want to stand anywhere that's public property you can do that um we don't know exactly how far their private property goes to State Road or what's considered public access cuz there is no sidewalk here under the snow but what they're asking is you don't stand on this plowed driveway and you stand on the other side of these snow Banks okay meaning what was that okay okay let me finish um what will happen if we don't move um if this is private property and you don't move you could be cited for trespass I'm asking you what will women continue to protest the women stood their grounded in face of a tyrannical interpretation of completely irrelevant laws by the officer and won their case is there reason why you open my door and we already established that it's not required that I'm not operating as a commercial vehicle correct in the state of Arizona you have to have a valid registration to have a vehicle on the roadway you also have to provide me with identification I don't have to unless I Comm crime State of Arizona you do if I if I pull you over for a traffic infraction you do have what's the traffic infraction you have no valid registration okay did I commit a crime that's not a crime it's a civil it's a civil matter okay so if I commit a if I don't commit a crime I'm not rec on you are you are committing a crime now what crime is that not providing me with a ID or driver's license the officer alleges that the driver is liable to show his driver's license since he has been involved in this traffic stop due to a traffic violation however the driver in return argues that he is not liable to demonstrate it since he hasn't committed any crime however according to the law the driver is liable to show his license watch how the interaction proceeds so a crime is when you injure someone no no no no no no a crime per the State of Arizona you got you got to understand here you're it sounds like you're Philadelphia attorney Rebecca musara was pulled over for an alleged speed limit violation musara refused to answer any questions and that is when the officers decided they were going to arrest her Office tried to pull over Jacksonville's renowned rapper Charles Jones who goes by the rap name of Julio fulio allegedly for having black tints on his vehicle's Windows when the cops initially tried pulling him over in a traffic stop he ignored the instructions of the police and went on accelerating his vehicle for three blocks watch how the encounter unravels once Mr fulio pulls over his car trying to run away from the police Mr fulio and two other men in the car were detained and handcuffed while the car was searched Mr fulio informed the police that there was a gun in the car which was officers to make an arrest she clarified that she did not search anything put on gloves or touch any item in the vehicle she merely looked inside a deputy grabbed Mr fio by his hoodie slammed his head against the side of a car and yelled at him to stop resisting Mr fulio was charged with the third degree felony of fleeing for attempting to elude a law enforcement officer if you are thinking you have seen it all wait till you learn about the case of attorney Emanuel Ola who schooled officer Ruth and Balman with the Westerville Police Department have be back no don't run it don't don't don't trash out of his car and dumping it in the dumpster this is when officers Dan Ruth and Matthew Balman pulled up behind him the interaction which was cordial at first turned sour as the officers insisted on recording ola's identification despite his protest hi there I have my office is here your office is here I own an office here okay which office is it the LA the what [Music] here is my business car 160 okay you need my ID show you my ID if you don't mind just so yeah if you don't mind can we see your ID go it's a pretty cool uh that is pretty that's a slick uh business card yep all right I'll give it to him um you can keep doing what you're doing we're just again we're kind of concerned yeah seeing somebody don't bup yourself there so be back don't run it don't don't don't run this won't escalate this is an old tactic of cops where they run your ID and try to find some dirt on you so they can arrest you if that fails they still enter your information in their database which is unwarranted and illegal Miss Mr olaw also made a mistake here by offering his ID voluntarily surrendering your information to police officers is rarely a good idea that's fine but we can still mark down who we're out with and so that's what we're going to do no yes didn't stop me this don't turn this into an sir you are turning this into an issue we're just simply marking down who we're out with so he's just going to write it down on a piece of paper just just your name why because sir we are out with you because we were concerned that you were illegally dumping but but you you already discovered do you want me to show you my office I understand that you're here but I don't know if this dumpster belongs to you or somebody else in the in the it belongs to me to you and you alone yes can you prove that that dumpster belongs to you and you alone this dumpster belongs to the property okay I'm Jing my stuff in there that's my point though is it if it's also other units so what it belongs to everybody we're paying for it doesn't really matter if it belongs to all the unit fine just give me back my ID thank you thank you don't worry everything is under control and that's my wife okay that's fine do you want your card back yeah I understand you came to check but trying to run my ID to find anything no that's illegal that is not illegal but okay you can finish stumping if you like thank you Mr Ola took to social social media and lodged a protest at this unnecessary contact by the police officers the Westerville Police Department also issued an explanation and clarified that recording personal information was not a part of their policy last but not the least is Sergeant Becker with the Wilmington Police Department who received the humbling of a Lifetime by the local lawyer Jesse brigh I know my rights I hope so I know I know what the law is I know the law I'm an attorney so I would hope I know the law and the Uber driver and here man Uber you want my bar card this is Officer Sergeant Kenneth Becker a 20-year veteran with the Wilmington Police Department on February 26th 2017 attorney Jesse brgh was driving an Uber when he was pulled over the officers told brgh that he was driving his passenger to a known drug housee and that the passenger had outstanding warrants him as brgh records the interaction an officer asks him to stop citing a new law that no one has heard of so I'm driving Uber Mone let me get it all right and uh my passenger is getting arrested hey bro turn that off okay no I'll keep recording thank you yeah it's my right don't record me being an Uber driver which is highly unethical when he realizes that his empty words won't work he threatens bright with searching his car and implies that he will take him to jail if something is found Brite asks a sheriff's deputy about this imaginary new law that prohibits citizens from recording police officers sir can you tell me what this new law is that I'm not allowed to record I'm sorry he he said that there's a law I'm not allowed to record the police I just wanted to know what that new law is you said you were attorney correct I am I've never heard of this law that you're not allowed to record the police anymore it must be brand new okay well they just recently passed it so like super recently seems like a strange law I man [Music] meanwhile another officer explains the situation to brgh attributing frequent police stops to the fact that Brit's car had a lot of history brgh explains that he does not object to the police stop or arrest his frustration is limited to Sergeant Becker's attempt at stopping him from filming the interaction I never know where I'm taking my passengers man they just type in an address I drive them to there you don't mind me asking where'd you pick him up from 404 Thrasher drove him over to here he told me he's picking up a paycheck and I'm driving him back yeah he said he works as a dog groomer and that's his manager that pays him every week that he's going to pick it up from next thing I know I surrounded by police are you from the area here you live here in wion yeah I live here I work at the courthouse you work at the courthouse yeah just right yes how long you been Uber driver this St Pierre a year and a half two years maybe that's that is have you been stopped a lot it's probably why you you've been stopped cuz you're an Uber driver right cuz there's a lot of history on the vehicle on this vehicle there's history yeah not that I know of okay all right well here's your license we're going to wait for uh Kine because I don't know if he might have dumped something under the seat and he don't want us to look so we're just going to have Kine come out and smell and if they do an indication if not then you'll be on your way okay sir okay I mean if he threw something under the seat it still has nothing to do with me like okay but it's in your car I'm not saying it has anything to do with you sir I I've can can you understand my frustration I'm just at work I should I absolutely do your registration just hold on a minute okay thanks man all right brigh tried to Lodge a complaint against Sergeant Becker but when he did not receive any response from the police department he posted this interaction ction on social media where it went viral following this an internal investigation was launched and Becker was demoted and hit with a 5% pay cut although it is refreshing to see these stupid cops getting humbled by educated lawyers such incidents leave one wondering the gross violation such cops
