What do you think? Yeah. >> This is crazy. This is awful. >> Oh, it's so hard to do. Can you drag him out or >> Crawl out to us. Show your hands. >> Yeah. I got it. >> Compulsive hoarding might be a mental disorder, but when it spills into criminal behavior, it can be far more dangerous. >> Nope. Let me see your hands. Let me see your your hands. What are you Get up. >> Whether it's children or animals being housed in deplorable conditions or squatters entirely taking homes over, it comes to a stop when no-nonsense police deal with serial hoarders. >> [screaming] >> On the 6th of June, 2025, the cops were called to a house in Dwight, Illinois. Reportedly, there was a domestic dispute between a mother and son. The mother claimed that her adult son, Jeffrey Janeky, had punched her in the face during an argument. >> Out the back? Hey, come here. I want to talk to you. Come here. >> The moment the cops arrived, Jeffrey took off, but he couldn't have gotten far. The officer started his search in the backyard, weaving through piles of junk, and already seeing a very dire hoarding situation. The neglect was hard to look at, given how architecturally beautiful the house was. >> Where's he at? >> Right here. >> Stop moving. Stop. I want to talk to you. I don't want to taze you. Stop. Come here. Come here. Get over here. I'm going to taze you. I'm going to taze you. Stop running. Stop. Stop moving. I just want to talk to you. Come here. Come here. Please, come here. Come here. Come here. Sir? Listen, back away from the back door now. Get out of the way. I don't like this at all. >> Jeffrey was using the piled-up junk to escape the officer and retreated further into the house. He really could have been hiding anywhere, and the officer clearly felt in danger. Dark and eerie, this scene was like something straight out of a horror movie. >> Let me see your hands. I want to talk to you. Oh, I can't even get back there. This is Officer Calhoun. I know you know me from our last encounters. There's no reason to be up in the attic. Can you come down and talk to me? Oh, this couldn't be couldn't be any other worse. >> It appeared that Jeffrey had retreated into the attic, and before the officers followed him up there, they called for their backup. One of the cops said that he probably could have stopped the man outside, but he chose not to because he didn't want to tase Jeffrey in front of his mother. It was a small act of mercy that unfortunately gave Jeffrey a chance to run. >> So, there's only one way in, one way out. Wait for county. We have the only entrance, and we take it from there. No reason to go over there and get hurt. >> [snorts] >> Oh, she If she wasn't in there, I would have I would have tried at least tased him, but >> Mhm. >> Time's on your side. >> So, he's up there. >> Okay, I'm hearing noise. Let's just >> You got shield. >> You got shield. >> I >> I was going to have you go over there. [ __ ] the shield. >> Is that Jeffrey? >> Yeah, you can't even see. It's the wall. >> Hey. Hey, buddy. My guy, can you hear me, man? >> That's him crying, right? >> It's what? >> That's him weeping. >> I can't hear cuz county's in my ear. >> It's not a dog, right? It's him. >> Wait. >> Crying. >> That's a dog. >> That's dog, yeah. >> Yeah. >> Inside the house, the officer heard a dog barking and whining non-stop, and one look around the place made it clear it wasn't fit for the dog or anyone for that matter. Eventually, backup arrived. >> Hey, bud. How are you? I'm Emily. >> Yeah, I do not want him jumping out of that. >> I know. That's why I'm like uh he knows. >> Where are you guys at right now? >> Um I just need to get her injuries for my report and we're dealing with >> So, you're going after him though? >> We're We're just playing it slow right now. >> So, I would say some but one needs to stay out there and maybe distract him a little bit out here. >> Okay. >> And then you got somebody with the other one get up, you know what I mean? >> Mhm. Well, out of everyone here he knows me. So, I mean I I'd love to >> a warrant or do you have another >> I mean I've talked to him three times just the last time we had to do the most because he wasn't compliant and trying to run. >> this is your guys's call so >> Yeah. So, I mean that's why I'm like he which he like females more so I mean if you want to sit here and then we Yeah. You can't go in. Can't go in. >> Where is he? >> He's upstairs in the attic and you have to stay inside outside. >> The mother was urging the cops to let her into her house so she could grab her clothes from the kitchen but the cops explained to her that it wasn't safe to go inside and they let the woman know they'd retrieve what she needed. >> Ready? >> Yep. >> Yeah, let's just go. >> Yep. >> I'm coming up here. Show me your hands. Show me your hands. >> There's a lot of stuff up here, guys. >> Take your time. Show me your hands. Where are you at? >> There's a window at the front. Check over there. >> Yep, I'm looking. I can't see back corner. >> When asked by the officers, the woman insisted there were no firearms in the attic as the cops were concerned that he [snorts] might be armed. Still though, they couldn't just take her word for it. Therefore, the cops had to move carefully and approach the man with caution. >> Oh, wait. There's still back here. There's still a copy back there. >> Watch out. The corner right side here. >> You back here? >> No. No. >> I see you up there. Come here. Show me your hands. Get down on the top of the post. Come here. I see you. Get down. Get down. >> They eventually located Jeffrey hiding deep in a corner of the attic and he was shielded by towers of clutter which had clearly been accumulated over the years. Spotting the man was one thing but actually reaching him through that maze of junk was another challenge entirely. >> He's out. I'm going to tase you. Get down. Get out and go. Get on the ground. Right now. Down on your stomach. Get down. No, turn around. Oh, it's so hard to do. >> We need to drag him out or >> No, crawl out to us, Jeffrey. >> Yeah. >> I got Crawl out. Your hands where I can see them. Take your time and crawl on out. We'll get your head looked at. Keep your head down low. There's nails. Keep it low. >> We need you to lay down right here when you get out here. >> Come right down to the ground. Flat on your stomach. >> All right, lay down now. Lay down now. >> On your stomach. >> All the way down. Arms out. Arms out. Get >> The cops knew the man already from previous encounters. They were aware he suffered from a psychiatric disorder and that he had a history of turning aggressive with the cops, which made the entire situation even more unpredictable. >> You didn't have to do all that, man. >> Just keep on going straight. >> Say goodbye to her. >> Uh not right now, all right? She got She's pretty banged up. Watch your head. Get in. Watch your head. What did you say? No, get in. Get in. Get in. Get in. Here, I'll pull your pants up a little bit. Let's go. >> They arrested Jeffrey on two domestic battery charges, resisting a peace officer, and aggravated battery on a victim 60 years or older. Later in court, he pled guilty to aggravated battery and resisting. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 2 years probation, and mandatory mental health treatment. In March of 2024, the cops were called to a house in Santa Fe, New Mexico to enforce a court-ordered eviction. When the officers arrived, they discovered the 72-year-old tenant, a man named Francis, was barricaded inside the house. >> Sheriff's office. Locksmith. >> Hey. >> [snorts] >> I'm sorry I didn't come over here sooner, but >> Open up, bells. >> Stand over there. Can you stand aside? Yeah. >> Are there any enter any other entrances to this building? >> No. >> No? >> He's got a lock, I think, on the door. >> It's not It's not a lock. It's either a lock or there's something barricading. Okay? >> Oh, so you mean he's put actual screws in the door? >> No, it's No, no, it's There's something I think there's something behind the door. >> He's barricaded it. Yeah, like it's wood. >> Yeah, he's got a barricade. >> Yeah, and this is new to us. So, what do I do now? >> Well, you have a choice. I mean, if your locksmith they don't want to do it, okay, then they're they're not going to do it. They can't unlock it, okay? But if they've got a crowbar or something like that to pop that off so we can make entry. Lock on? >> I think we can get >> In addition to jumping against the door, the man had also drilled the door shut, turning it into a barricade. The landlord, who'd called the cops in the first place, came back with a crowbar to try and bust the door open. >> Is this the best side for me to >> I got to turn I turn it over. >> Turn it around and >> There you go. >> Okay. Can I use this thing? >> You can use whatever you want. >> Oh. Oh, he's like put furniture up against it. It's just a mess. And he's in there cuz the dogs aren't No. Um I have the fire chief on call. Do you think they might have tools? >> They might. >> The cops could hear the dogs inside barking non-stop. The landlord confirmed the man lived there with three dogs. But if you're thinking it's a pretty small building to have three dogs and a person inside, [music] just wait till you see the chaos in the house. >> I don't know if he's armed or what not. I mean >> I've asked him before if he has a weapons. He [music] says no. It's just the one mean dog. >> So he says. Uh yeah, I mean so there's Open the door! Sheriff's office! Open the door! We're going to take it down! Yeah, what he's doing he's screwing it together. So, at this point like I said, you um >> By that time, the man had taken his drill back out and continued trying to drill the door shut, trying to barricade himself in. It wasn't clear what he was really trying to achieve. Did he really think the cops were just going to give up and go home? >> Okay, we're coming in. So, you got a choice. You can open the door and do this peacefully cuz we're not leaving till we come in. Do you hear? Well, that's something you got to take up with the judge. Okay, open the door so we can chat. Open the door so we can chat. Okay, let's chat then. Open the door and let's chat about it. Okay, we are coming in. Okay, we will come in. So, you can do this peacefully or not. >> Obviously, the man wasn't going to budge and the cops couldn't get inside since the door was firmly screwed shut. Even so, the cops weren't prepared to give up. So, they called the fire department to [music] help them break in. >> Okay, you need to open the door cuz we are coming in. We're just bringing resources out here to get it done. So, we're going to we're coming in. Okay, we're coming in. >> We have a court order. In another attempt to pry the door open, the cops got another crowbar, this one even bigger, from one of the squad cars. While they waited for the fire department, they tried to get in once again and it just made Francis even angrier. >> No running water provided here. >> Open the door. >> No hot water. >> [snorts] >> But don't you want to get a ticket? >> I got a ticket. Pull that glass back. >> Yeah. >> So Getting an illegal eviction The landlord actually The landlord has to provide hot water. What? It's an illegal for a landlord not to provide hot water for a human. >> Should have let her out when we got here. >> What part of you Illegal eviction for a landlord to stand. >> There's a court order, brother. We need to get this open. >> [snorts] >> We're coming So you might as well move your stuff. >> I'm not moving anything. >> All right. >> The cops were struggling to get inside, not only because Francis had drilled wood across the door, but also due to the mounds of junk stacked up against it. The full scale of this disaster finally became clear. There were piles of trash stacked up to the ceiling and there was barely any space to move. >> Illegal. Totally illegal. I just >> Watch your step on the way out. >> And that's there's no hot water here. Totally illegal. >> He's not hearing anybody. >> I saw you standing right there in that open area. Sorry. What do you think? What do you think? Yeah. Back up. Back up. Okay, bring the dogs. >> The whole place was like a landfill filled up to the brim with junk. In reality, it was a home in name only. It was unsafe, unlivable, and it was completely consumed by hoarding. As far as the three dogs went, they barely had anywhere to move, and while the cops finally got the door open, Francis still refused to leave. >> You're either coming out now or we're going to make you come out. Period. >> If you can get a hold of him, you can get a hand on him and pull him out. >> What part of that court order don't you understand? Five trials Five trials. Can I get my leash so I can bring my dog out peacefully? >> Okay. Got the leash? Got the leash. Where's it at? >> It's a post out there. >> There's a post outside. >> Here's one right here. >> You use this one. >> So, what's going to be done with my baloney? >> We'll explain that to you here in just a second. >> No, you can explain it to me now. >> No, no, you're not in charge here. >> Francis was determined to make this whole situation as difficult as possible for the cops. By that point, he'd caused an incredible hindrance to them, and it was obvious his behavior wasn't going to change. Sadly for the landlord here, he was the one who'd be left to clean the mess up. >> Well, this is very disrespectful. >> So, is he not opening the door? >> No. It's illegal. You don't treat the tenants that way. 16 months no hot water. >> That's something you have to take up with the courts. >> The court is too crooked. >> Well, that's all we've got. >> Okay, come on. Bring them out. Come on, buddy. Hey, AC, you guys will take these dogs with you. Come on, buddy. Okay. Let's wait. Yep. Buddy, it's okay. It's okay, buddy. Come here. Come here. >> So, that that place is atrocious. Like hoarder level five, and I'm not kidding. >> 16 months no hot water. Hey, pooch. >> The cops were still on edge, unsure if the dogs inside would be aggressive towards them. When the first dog appeared, it started wagging its tail and seemed to be happy to be out of there. And given the chaos it had been living in, who could blame it? Francis still had to get two more dogs out, but he was dragging the process out like [snorts] it would somehow work in his favor. >> Come on. Sorry, you have to keep going, sweetie. So, how you doing? Good. Come on, Bobby. How you doing, sweetie? Come on, Bobby. You want a snack? You want a treat? >> [snorts] >> You want a treat? >> Olympia, she's scared already. You're frightening her death out of her. >> Well, it doesn't help that you didn't open the door. We had to knock it in. >> no, no, no, no, no. No hot water 16 months. >> There you go. >> I believe you. >> And that's okay. That's okay, Francis. Don't treat them that way. >> Well, that's between you and the judge, man. >> No, I bit the child six times. >> Grab the other dog. >> Six times? How do you can you explain? >> [laughter] >> Francis started clambering over piles of junk to reach the last dog. A handler stood nearby just in case the dog showed any aggression. It's hard to imagine though as the dog would probably be relieved to finally see daylight. >> Okay, bring her on out. >> I'm trying. You can see she's struggling. She knows [music] when you got cool people around. She's been abused. There we go. Come on, buddy. >> There's the other one, guys. Stop me before it >> This one here. She's coming with you. >> I need to get my >> Step right over here. Put your hands behind your back. >> Are you happy, Amy? Hey, I break that cruel seal. You get to come here and do your thing. >> Come on. Let's go. >> What do you mean, time? >> Your time's done. Let's go. >> Francis was arrested and he was taken to the station to be booked. In this case, he was given a reasonable amount of time, which was three business days, to return to the house and collect the rest of his things. As for the three dogs, they were taken to animal control. On May 25th, 2025, the cops were called to the home of Amy Kennedy. As soon as they arrived, they could see the mess was extreme and the entire house resembled a junkyard. The reason for the officer's visit was to locate another tenant, David, who had an active warrant. >> Hello. Come out. Sheriff's office. Your name? >> Amy. >> Amy. Amy what? >> Kennedy. My My dog's in there. She's sick. Nobody else is in there. Just my dog. Okay? I just >> Well, don't close it. Don't Don't close it. >> I don't have an ID. I don't. >> What's your date of birth? Don't close the door. >> My dog is in there and I don't want you guys >> There's no fence between us. >> I don't Cuz we have a Why would I walk out here to see you guys since I had a dog? And? And I usually run, okay? And I didn't. >> Amy was gloating that she hadn't run away when the cops arrived, like it was something to be proud of, and acting like the cops should be thanking her. Obviously, it wasn't her first encounter with law enforcement, and she readily admitted to having dealt with them in the past. Who's in there with you? >> My dog. >> And who else? >> My dog. [music] >> That's it? >> My dog. Watch. Do you want me to call my dog out here? >> Sure. >> Okay. He's hurt right now. >> Why is he hurt? >> Cuz a dog attacked him. Come here, baby. >> Okay. >> Come here, baby. Okay. Yeah. Okay. >> So, you're worried about him running, but he can't run cuz he's hurt. Does that make any sense? Does that make any >> Because I don't want him to get all like bugged or irritated. This is my dog. >> I saw you get up. I just saw you get up by that paraphernalia in there. >> Mhm. >> So, um right now you are going to be detained, okay? >> Let me tell my dog. >> No, you're not free to leave. >> my dog. >> You're not free to go over there. I'll just go get her. >> Let me now get out. Get out. I want you. Get out. Get out of me. >> Give me your hand. >> Let me go, you piece of >> How Amy thought she could outrun the cops really was a mystery. All she'd really done was make things worse. What should have been a simple arrest of a completely different person had now spiraled into chaos. The cops now turn their attention to Amy and to the drug paraphernalia they'd found in her house. >> Why would she do that? No. She [screaming] did it. She did it. >> Get out of the >> [screaming] [screaming] [screaming] [screaming] >> Yeah, she bit me. >> Biting an officer is a serious offense, and it's often charged as felony assault on a peace officer. Once Amy was secured in handcuffs, the cops then approached another tenant and asked the woman to let them inside so they could properly search for David. >> You see that bong right there? She was sitting right here in that's in that pipe. And that pipe, that's where she got up from. >> I'm alone. >> Inside the place, it was more like a scrapyard than a house. The whole place was full of tools and other industrial type items. Despite the cops' best efforts to search through all that junk, it appeared David wasn't there. So, instead of getting their original suspect, the cops instead took Amy's meth pipe and removed it from the house. >> I'm an alcoholic. >> There was somebody in here, huh? >> Yes, sir. I heard something. >> No, there is like a man in here. >> There was? >> Well, it sounded like it, right? >> [snorts] >> Is there a way to get out right here, ma'am? >> Yeah. >> Before taking her off to jail, the cops here wanted to be 100% sure that he wasn't in the house. They had a warrant for the man's arrest, and they still believe that he might be staying there. Finally, once they were sure he wasn't there, they turned their attention back to Amy, who by that point had amassed an audience. >> Try to get up, okay? >> Hey, I need another set. I need to I need another set. >> I got it, sir. >> Hey, I have a torn rotator cuff. Push me. >> Careful. You're going to go to jail, too. >> No, she's not. >> You be careful. >> Come on. Let's go. Stop resisting. Let's go. >> Give me another set of handcuffs by my arm. >> I don't really give you another set of handcuffs. >> Rotator cuff. >> Okay, we'll take care of it once we get to a better spot. Let's go. I got it. >> I'll be a little Excuse me. >> You're the one who bit me. >> What are you talking about? >> Yeah, because you Breathe. Oh, you Your breath smells like stored [ __ ] you. And you're Get my wrist. You need to tell someone why you I just said you are hurting I did [screaming] not hurt >> If you just walk, you won't fall. >> I did not >> If you just walk, you won't >> Let me go. Let me go. You stupid piece of >> Not only had she bitten the officer, but she'd also hurled plenty of abuse at him. If she thought that was going to help her case, she was sorely mistaken. What a lot of these suspects need to realize is that in situations like these, it's always best to comply. >> Take a seat. >> No. >> [screaming] >> What are you doing to my >> You need to take a seat. >> No. >> Take a seat. I won't touch you no more. Take a seat. >> Let me go. >> Take a seat. >> hurt me. >> I'm not going to let you go. >> run or anything. What >> I'm going to let you sit down. >> Let me just stop. >> Sit down. >> Stop. I have issues. >> Whenever I asked you, whenever I told you that you're going to be detained for the drug paraphernalia that I observed on on that counter top that you were sitting by, >> Mhm. >> um why did you decide to run? >> Um I didn't I decided to run. Um >> Cuz you know I told you you were detained, right? And you're not free to go? >> Yeah. I'm I'm trying to think And then it was it was some stupid like something crossed my mind right then. was I can't even remember why. >> Okay. >> Like it it wasn't something huge. It was just like the whole that it was stupid. >> Okay. And then whenever I grabbed you and I tried to take you and detain you and put you in cuffs and then we ended up falling to the ground, at what what uh made you bite me? >> Because I couldn't breathe. >> You couldn't breathe? >> I have asthma. >> So you decided to bite me? >> I told you that you were hurting me. >> Mhm. >> They charged the woman with resisting an officer, evading or obstructing an officer, aggravated battery on a peace officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. It was a serious list of charges and they'd follow Amy for a very long time, if not for the rest of her life. On the 12th of August, 2024 in Wisconsin, the cops responded to the residence of Kevin Daniel Price. After a disturbing 911 call, the cops showed up to conduct a welfare check. Before abruptly hanging the phone up, the caller claimed a man had tried to break their neck. >> Fitchburg Police, Kevin You need to come to the door. We aren't leaving. Someone was screaming for help. You need to come to the door. We're going to force our way in. >> Do you only speak Spanish or what? >> Uh >> Only speak Spanish? >> I think he speaks English. >> Okay. >> If I recall correctly. >> All right. >> Fitchburg Police. Come to the door. >> The caller had sounded extremely panicked, but then said never mind and abruptly hung up. The tenant there, Kevin, was only 28 years old and had been struggling with his mental health since a few years ago when his mother died. >> Coming in here is not going to be good cuz there's [ __ ] all along here. >> Is that door open? >> Yes. >> No, that one in. >> No, it's locked. >> 38, got it. >> Go ahead. >> Kevin >> Kevin or You need to come to the door. We need to make sure you guys aren't hurt. >> The cops tried several times to call the number back, but it went straight to voicemail. It was later determined that Kevin was the one who called the cops in the first place, which came as a surprise to the police. >> Well, this all this happened out here in the parking lot, right? >> Yeah, and that's where she saw >> And they and then they both went back in here. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> She was really worried about him cuz uh cuz he looked really panicked. >> You didn't see anybody in there? >> No. There's one bedroom that the blinds are pulled and can't see. We could see in the other bedroom. >> Mhm. >> But I think Odell say those blinds are closed now, too? >> They both speak English, don't they? >> I don't >> [music] >> Yeah. >> I didn't know they both still lived here. It's been a >> Oh, yeah. >> It's been a minute. We do have a third roommate, too. Can't remember his name. >> [music] >> It's probably in there, but >> The couple who lived there were well-known to police by then, and by the way the cops spoke to them, they'd had plenty of brushes with the law. Of course, if the cops know who you are right away, it's rarely a good sign. Every new encounter just adds to a growing record. >> Fitchburg police. Kevin, come to the door. You got to talk to us. >> All right. >> We're going to be coming in. Fitchburg police. We need to check your welfare, so you need to come to the door now or we are coming in. Are you in there? It's Fitchburg police. Final warning, we are coming in. If you hear us, let us know that you hear us and that you're coming to the door. Is Kevin need to come to the door. We're coming in. Fitchburg police. No. We better to force here. Yeah. Uh this is on a chain. Fitchburg place. >> The house in question was a textbook example of hoarding being taken [music] to the extreme. In every corner there were piles of junk, and it was stacked so high and so dense that the front door barely [music] opened. Every step inside the place showed just how dangerous and neglected the whole place had become. >> Fitchburg place. >> All right, come on out. Who's coming? I'm going to have you go all the way outside or do you need an ambulance? All right, go all the way outside. >> Come on with us. You okay? >> Is Kevin in >> Is he back there or no? Is he Is he >> Go. >> Okay, okay, come with me. >> Go with Mike. Go on. >> What's his name, Kevin? >> Hey, you want to take him out of there? I'm going to stay with >> No, just stay stay there for now. >> Okay. >> Kevin. Then hold up the one one of the guys here. Let's check the bathroom first. Go, GP. Clear. Clear. All right, hold there, Kevin. All right, Clint. Kevin, are you in here? Kevin. >> Like some other places we've seen, this house was more like a scrapyard. Luckily for Kevin, it was an ideal place to hide, offering countless nooks and crannies as his hiding place. >> Inside the closet? >> Kevin, come out of the closet now. I got taser here, too. >> This closet door's closed. >> All right, Kevin, come out. >> You got him? >> Quit playing games here, man. >> This closet door is closed, though. >> Kevin, come out. >> We'll take one more in here with us. All right. LSO, which bedroom is he in? The one that we were in or the one in the back? AC unit on in there? >> There's no AC unit in there, so he's in here. >> It's got to be in here. >> All right. >> All right. >> Hold on. Kevin, if you're in here, make yourself known. >> Hold on one second. Okay, we're going to hold here. I'm just going to check on this bed quick. >> Okay, yeah. Okay. >> [snorts] >> He's there. >> It seemed like the cops had scoured every possible place there, but Kevin [music] still remained hidden. The only place left he might be hiding was the closet, and at that point, it was a matter of getting this guy to come on out. >> All right, Kevin. We know you're in the closet. You need to call out to us right now. He's moving. We got movement. Kevin. Kevin. Stand up right now with your hands raised. >> Yeah, I'm on the left side. >> Yeah, left side over here. >> Okay. Kevin, right now, stand up with your hands raised. Do you have a knife on you, Kevin? Kevin, do you have a knife? >> Yeah. >> Where is it? >> Dude, stand right there. Stop. >> Hands up now. >> Drop the knife. >> Stop. Drop Drop it. Drop it now. >> The officer fired his weapon, striking him three times in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital, but 3 days later, he passed away. His death was listed as a pulmonary embolism. After a lengthy investigation, the police department concluded that the officers involved were not criminally liable. On January 23rd, 2024, the cops were called to a house in Altura, Florida. It was a possible child neglect case, and two suspects, Willie Landers and Michelle Sophia, had been squatting in a house with three kids. But what the officers found inside the place was far worse than they imagined. >> Cameras on. >> You got me. Almost said it, girl. I had your back. >> What's the problem? Why are they here? Make them leave. >> What do you want me to do? >> Oh, I already told them they had to go. >> Why are they still here? I still see them. >> Yeah. I already told them. >> And but what happens? See, I'm not physical and I have a lot going on, so >> Who owns the house? >> Me and my brother. >> Why are they here? >> Why are they still here? >> That's what I'm saying. >> Did they get mail? >> No. They They should be getting mail. That's why I'm like >> I'll make them leave right now. >> Yeah, I already told >> Who's that? >> That's >> Really? Which is Selena? >> The other kid. >> I guess this is his girlfriend. See, >> This white kid right here, who is that? >> His girlfriend's son. >> Willie's girlfriend's son. >> I guess. >> So, you own the house? >> Yeah. >> Perfect. Let's do a walk-through. >> The cops had originally been called to the property over a trespassing call, but when they entered the house, the living conditions shocked them. In a later report, the cops described the conditions as absolutely deplorable. And at that point, they'd only been living in the house for about 3 months. >> Relax. >> Oh, you can't do nothing to me. >> Willie. >> You can't do nothing to me. >> Willie. >> I'm really not going to y'all going to I'll >> Look at Look at me real quick and just relax. Number one, you've got minors in here. You can catch a child neglect charge. Be nice to my officers, and I'm here for an unrelated incident. Stop it right now. This is very serious the way the house looks, and you as an adult, because of her, you'll catch her charge. So, just mind your business and stay with them and let me deal with this, cuz this is not your problem. This is bad. >> When the officers brought his dog up, Willie became angry. He co-owned the dog with a neighbor who had the dog in his possession. The dog, however, was the least of his problems. The real threat the man was facing was catching a charge for child neglect. >> That dog right there. See him? Mhm. >> I got the paperwork for a dog and it's like and he still got it. Mhm? >> Oh, but you just kind of said you guys let the dog go back and forth, right? >> But I told her to give the dog back. I got the dog back and he still got the dog again. So if I got the dog if I'm the co-owner of that dog right now, why he doing with the dog again? >> Do you want him to keep the dog because >> No, I don't want him to keep the I don't want That man right there, he came on my yard, talked trash to me, ma'am. And and and disrespect me in front of the kids. >> Well, can I ask you this? When we get your money financially situated, can we on camera work something out civilly while he keeps the dog until we fix this problem? Because if you have papers for the dog, I'll get it back. Willie, this is a problem. She's going to go through DCF. There's no water. She's going to end up losing her kids. Yeah, she's going to end up losing her kids, honey. I need to try to not make that happen. And I don't want you catching a child neglect charge because of it. She's been warned. This I feel like she's bringing you in all the mess, but the children say you're the fiance. >> Yes, ma'am. But at the same time, man, I've been doing so much to try, man. >> You were doing a good job. The kids told me. >> to go. We had nowhere to go. We had nowhere to go. We had nowhere to go. >> So let's fix the dog right now and let's just let him keep this dog >> Why he got to He can't Why he got to keep the dog for? >> Well, you want the dog with all your problems? What problem? >> He'd been staying in the house with Michelle, her children, and a dog, but clearly the house was in no shape to bring children up in or even to have a dog in. To make matters worse, Michelle had previous [music] warnings for child neglect, which she had obviously ignored. >> This dog is the least of the problems. You need to let somebody take care of this dog till you can get on your feet. >> Hey, it's like this. Um >> Alex, I'm going to need you to go do a walk-through of the house. I'll be right back, Willie. Hang out here. You can bear with me with the dog. I'm dealing with bigger stuff right now. The dog and any other possible things that came into play are the least of it. It's the children and these living conditions. So bear wet and moldy. >> Thank you. >> After searching the house, the cops determined they'd been without running water for about 2 weeks. The refrigerators in the house were either broken, empty, or covered in mold. Sadly, there were three kids in the house, including a 17-year-old boy and two younger girls aged 12 and 11. >> Bubba, are you getting some clothes? Hey, are you getting some clothes? >> Just getting whatever I can hold. >> What you need, baby? Did you get everything? >> Yeah. >> Get what you can take. Go ahead, I'm watching. No vapes, no nothing. Don't get in trouble. >> to do that. >> Come on. >> Yes. >> I'm There's bugs in there getting in my clothes. Come outside, baby. Is that somebody I can talk to for you? >> Maybe. >> All right. Um, one second. Okay, what did you say? Here you go, Bubba. Don't go back in there cuz I don't want on my clothes. Okay. Come out here with me cuz I don't want to go back inside. I want to get that stuff on my clothes. >> When do you When do you turn 18? >> 3 months. Okay, what? >> No. >> What? Where'd we get this? >> Huh? >> When he got his 13 infraction. >> What in the god's name, son? >> Did you pull that? Somebody we don't We don't know. >> Get out of my house! You got any more airsofts in that bag? >> No. >> Any MAC-10 grenades or bazookas? >> No. >> Let me see. Tell me the truth. >> Mm, I don't got none of that. >> You're the only one not going to jail here. >> As we alluded to earlier, Michelle had already been investigated by the Department of Children and Families, and she'd had her kids taken away from her twice before. She had a pending child neglect case, and they already told the woman that if she got one more charge, they'd be taking the kids away for good. >> I'm not quite sure what's going on if you're facing charges or what's going to happen, but I'm going to be as polite as I possibly can. I gave you the cigarette. I'll let you sit in here and finish smoking the cigarette, and then we'll decide what we do from DCF after that. And then we'll probably put Willie in the back to decide, but we're not sure. But, unless you're under 18, you get cuffed when you go back in the car. So, we haven't decided yet. Just put it down right there, and I'll pick it up while you're still cuffed in a few minutes. Don't put it out. I'll give it to you tonight. I'm going to give you Willie's, okay? Go ahead and get in. I'm going to leave that right there, so this way I can give you another drag of it when I put some gloves on. No, I know, but I'll let you have it when we decide what we're doing. >> According to later reports filed by the Bunnell Police Department, the house was covered in feces, moldy food, and crawling throughout the place [music] were live cockroaches. In a move that couldn't have shocked anyone, after this incident, the Department of Children and Families removed the kids from the house. >> I want you to sit with her, but you have to be cuffed when you get in the car. You're not going to jail. Get over here. Well, that's just how it's going to be because I'm going to let you sit with her, and I'm going to give her a cigarette, and I'm going to try As of right now, you are not under arrest. I promise you, okay? DCF makes that decision, not me. You, her, anybody. They make that decision, not me. This is yours. I'm not taking it. I'm just going to put it on the car with your stuff in case DCF something otherwise. Right, and that's what I'm trying to do, Willie, right now. I agree. Go ahead and get in. But, what I mean is, when I say I agree, Go ahead and get in. I'm going to come back and talk to you. As of right now, I'm not even going to Mirandize you because you're not under arrest. I'll talk to you in a minute. I'm just putting you in here while we finish this investigation. >> Willie and Michelle were charged with three counts of felony child neglect. Willie was held on a bond of $16,000, while Michelle got a bond of eight grand. Willie had already spent time in prison on drug offenses and for obstructing a criminal investigation. On the 1st of November, 2024, the cops were called to a quiet suburban home to remove a squatter. And what should have been a simple call escalated quickly. The intruder, William Skog, was already well known to the cops and had multiple warrants hanging over him. >> Hey. >> Yeah. >> The window's right there, right under. >> Yep. >> He hasn't came out yet, so I don't know. >> You got to shoot the phone. >> Okay. >> The window's clear at home. >> All right. >> Skogs! >> Right here, I think it's that. >> You want to go and go around? >> Hey, get out of the basement. Come out with your hands up. I can hear you, dude. Come out with your hands up. >> The homeowner told the cops the man had broken into the home and had been living in it ever since. Nobody knew exactly how long he'd been there, but based on the trash and clutter in the house, it seemed like he might have been there for quite some time. >> He's going somewhere over there. I'm going down there. >> Police department, come out with your hands up. Hands. >> He said he There must be another way out. >> He made it >> Scrambled towards another room out of order. >> Which way did he went? >> [ __ ] >> I heard him scramble, dude. >> He might be on the roof. >> Yep, coming up. Coming up the stairs, right? >> Just to the stairs though? >> Yeah. >> The house was packed with junk wall to wall. William though was nowhere to be seen. Convinced he was in the house, the officer searched again. >> He's down there, right? >> He was down there. I heard him. >> I know. I know. >> Hey, you guys want me to drive in? >> [snorts] >> Dude, I think he made it to that [ __ ] window. >> Searching through a hoarder's house can be dangerous for the cops. Any pile of junk could be a hideout for the suspect. And even worse, who knows what they might be hiding including weapons. >> Trey, I'm telling you he made it to that window. He made it to that window, dude. Without a doubt. >> No way he went through this way. >> He could have ran to the back though and he wouldn't have seen him. >> Only if he jumped over the >> Yeah, but as soon as he started screaming, I ran outside. >> Yeah. I'm telling you I think he >> right here. So, this camera I don't know who lives here, but >> I'm telling you I think he hopped that window. >> You want to on status? >> Is that four? >> Is that four? 10-4, I just heard 8230 is in route from North Town. >> Just one day earlier, according to a neighbor's report, William was seen climbing through a window into the house. In response, the landlord had boarded up the window, but obviously, it didn't stop William from getting back in. >> Maybe he ran upstairs. >> Just say copy that right here. >> You're good. >> [snorts] >> 8150 >> The cops suspected that he'd escaped through a window, but as they were wrapping things up and getting ready to leave the place, a neighbor flagged them down saying he'd been watching the whole time and that he never saw William leave the building. >> [laughter] >> You want [snorts] to hold that? >> He was just down here. >> [laughter] >> Just >> Come around the other side. >> Yeah, he had them in his back. >> Nope. Let me see your hands. Let me see your Let me see your hands. What are you Yeah, shut up. >> In the corner of a cluttered room, William had been hiding behind an old stained mattress. He'd almost managed to avoid detection, and if that neighbor hadn't been watching and tipped the cops off, he likely would have walked away free and unscathed. >> Get up. Get up right now. Will, is that you, man? Do you mind if I search you, Will? Hold. It's your will. Come on. I got it. Yep. Will, you've been gone for a minute. You still got your warrants? Bring them this way. >> Um I don't know. >> Yeah, I think you do then. >> [snorts] >> You get your record from Decatur? >> Yeah. >> The cops knew the man according to his surname, which was Skog. Unsurprisingly, he had a slew of previous run-ins with the cops and a mounting list of charges on his record. >> All right, do you have anything I need to be careful of? Is there a sharp stick you can poke me? I see [snorts] you got needles. >> Yeah. >> Any open ones? >> No. I ain't I ain't I ain't used I just found them in there. >> Okay. Other than you, was there anybody else here last night? >> I don't know. I just I just got here for for for for for for okay was there anybody else in there with you okay just you you didn't see slime at all no okay no not today okay I want to ask you what was I I said Scott is that you said yeah you just trying to try to mess with me a little bit >> I ain't want to try to actually do work >> let me shut up >> you know what I'm saying cuz I want about to do >> I got now I figured but I thought you were slime slime's good for running >> Ultimately they arrested William and he was taken into custody on charges of criminal trespass and resisting a peace officer causing injury as for his outstanding warrants he'd now be facing a giant stack of consequences that he'd been avoiding for quite some time. On the 7th of February 2025 the cops arrived at a home in Tulsa Oklahoma. It was supposed to be a routine zoning inspection but they instead walked into a nightmare as the house was buried in filth and decay. The tenants there were Tiffany Anderson and Dwight Holmes and what was worse records confirmed that two kids live there as well. >> Okay and you all live there you all live at that residence >> as I know this is my and two kids and Dwight >> Okay and they're there every day >> yes >> Okay would you write that in a statement for me >> Okay perfect thank you let me get that so if you have something that's major okay are you convicted >> September anything like that >> no no I'm not >> okay >> I don't have nothing major >> Okay so if there's nothing major there's not as an actual go that to accelerate. Okay, we'll let you go on your way. >> Three braids. >> Next time we try to come by to talk to you, you should talk to us. >> Oh, I I I would I I would talk to you. I'm really new. >> After searching the house, the cops made note that the house had no running water, inactive utilities, and a giant pile of waste. It raised serious questions about the home's basic safety and livability. A witness, Christopher, confirmed the identity of the tenants, Tiffany and Dwayne. >> So, go ahead and read over that, sir. You've been here for about 3 weeks. You're friends with Dwayne Holmes. Who resides at the residence is Dwayne and Tiffany. The children stay over there daily and every night as well, or is this Wait, how often do they stay? >> I guess every night. >> No, you tell me. I'm not trying to put words in your mouth. First, you said they stayed over there all the time. Then, you said weekends >> they're over there. They're daily and come over there, but I mean, I don't pay that much attention to see when they're going home. >> them there daily? >> They they go to her brother's house or dad's house. >> You see them there daily? >> Yeah. >> Okay. They said they spend weekends there, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Oh, there we go. >> I'm going to grab a lighter, sir. >> Here you go. >> Christopher confirmed that kids lived in the house, which helped the cops establish who was legally responsible for them. In Oklahoma, it's an essential step to take before the cops can investigate child neglect. >> God, you can smell it from out here. Yeah. >> All right, let's talk. >> Okay. >> So, I talked to your dad. He didn't know you didn't have water. >> All right. Okay. >> Thank you very much. >> As far as I know. >> The two both had criminal histories including a serious charge that Dwight got for aggravated drug trafficking. The cops wanted to find out how long the kids have been living in those conditions and while Dwight wasn't home there were other men in the house. Come out here. Come out here. Give these officers your information, okay? The cops took their details to run in the system and check them in for outstanding warrants. Everything came back clear but after a closer check the cops did find out that one of the men lied about his name. The cops also had a recent report about the house saying that on a regular basis there were lots of people who were presumably homeless moving in and out of the property. Your name? Oh, so you lie? Cuz you know I get pictures, right? >> Yes. >> So, why do you lie? >> Cuz I don't I didn't go up there or else they'll erase me. >> So, you don't want >> I I don't know. >> So, so you don't even know what you I like that. I'm going to show you. >> Mhm. Yeah. >> Damn. >> He's healthy. >> Huh? >> He's healthy. >> Yeah, and and not >> Yeah. It's good. It's good. >> Oh, it's I mean, it's healthy. It's cool. >> I don't know where he's at. >> Richie, you alive? >> Yeah. >> All right. >> She's with me and then I've got her showing me the places on the warrant that I'm looking at and then I'm about to come out. >> Okay. >> Years earlier, the same house had been flagged for unsanitary conditions, but at that time, there was no immediate risk. But by this stage, the condition of the house had further declined and it did not seem to be legally habitable. >> What's up there? >> Oh, is there a dog up there? >> I have no idea. Sounds like something's walking around up there. >> Yeah, it's so it's probably Polly cuz she's real. >> Them babies can't live like this. >> I know, that's why we're moving to my dad's. >> But you wouldn't [snorts] know it if I hadn't been out here. It's what I'm saying. It's just a vicious cycle we're going through. >> We we were going to move there. My dad was just getting my grandma into a nursing home. >> What's this area? >> That's the laundry room dining room thing. >> Okay. >> So, this is the laundry room? >> Dining room. So, I thought Yeah, that's what we used for our laundry room. >> Where is Where's the washer and dryer? >> The washer and dryer's at my dad's now cuz his went out. I get it if you have a dryer. >> Like here? >> Yeah. >> Oh, you got your dryer. >> Uh we just took it up there last night. >> Okay, now >> Mhm. >> It's not um this has been here for a while. Okay. >> I know I know the washers the washers and dryers have been out in the driveway. It was out in the driveway the last time you came here. >> Yes, so >> Yes, that's we moved it out. >> No problem. >> I'm sorry. I'm going to get that, but that's where it is now. >> She confirmed that the house didn't even have a washer or dryer. She claimed they were at her father's, which was where she planned to move with her two young sons, but there was no proof at all that any of what she said was true. >> I was planning on moving to my dad's me and the boys, but I >> There's a What was this? A shotgun over there? >> I don't know. I think it's a BB gun. I forgot all about that. That's old. I don't think it can work. >> That don't look like no BB gun. >> I think that's what it is. >> There's a BB gun in the other room back there. >> Yeah, that's a BB gun. That looks like a .22. >> Yeah. >> No, I don't know. >> Bolt action. >> I thought it was a BB gun. >> No. Huh. >> Me and the me and the boys usually leave. They get out of school and we go to my dad's. They stay over at my dad's. >> That's that's your >> Um >> You can leave that wherever. Actually, I'll just I'll I'll put it right here. I'll take a photo of it, okay? >> Okay. >> Not only did the house have no food, no running water, and none of the basic utilities that anyone would need to live safely, but on top of that, there was also a shotgun present. But in a house with two young kids, it was a fatal accident waiting to happen. >> You take that. >> Jesus. >> You all right? >> Yeah. >> I don't know where he's at. >> Running quite the small engine repair shop, looks like in here. >> Yeah. >> This is where I arrested old Derek Carmacio with a brand new stolen GMC. >> That's his kids um playing. >> Okay. So, we're going to go upstairs one more time with with Deputy Stout cuz he's got a flashlight. >> Okay. >> It's not very charged, but we can try. >> Colleen, >> [snorts] >> you be good. Are there any dog toys? Yeah, there is a dog toy right here. >> The cops continued searching trying to find any sign at all of a basic routine for the kids. They didn't find anything like that, and aside from the deplorable living conditions, there was that steady flow of adults with extensive criminal records, which added one more layer of risk for the kids. >> See, so there's no food here for them babies. >> No, cuz they're at my dad's. And I just got food stamps today from yesterday, the 5th. And I'm just I was going to the store first to go take more food to my dad. Cuz me and the kids basically just sleep here. That's all we're basically doing. >> All right. >> How many guys sleep? >> Is it bad in there? >> Oh, yeah. Is there anything in my car that's right side the door I'm taking back to the car store? >> Just go. Just be thankful you get to go. >> Thank you. >> You're liable after today, man. I ain't cutting you no break. >> All right. >> So, here's what I need you to do. Take your purse off, set down. >> All right. >> All right, gentlemen. >> All right, so put on the cuffs on him, buddy. >> Tiffany tried to justify the lack of food and beds in the house, but honestly, there was really nothing she could say. The kids' school also reported they were regularly absent, another obvious sign of instability in the house. The cops then searched the backyard and found motorcycles, and they had a hunch they were linked to recent thefts. >> Possum, though I probably would have worn a vest for this one. >> Yeah, probably. would have worn a vest for this one. >> Yeah, probably. >> Oh, that's a brand new fire cracker. >> Tiffany was charged with child neglect, and in the state of Oklahoma, it's a crime that can carry a sentence of life in prison. Dwight faced the same charge, on top of his existing aggravated drug case. The children, of course, were placed in the custody of the state. All these hoarders didn't just trash their homes, but also their reputations. Sadly, those who really suffer are the innocent ones, like the kids and the pets. And thankfully, when these no-nonsense cops step in, they go in hard and show exactly what happens when these serial hoarders are held accountable.
