On October 7th, 2022, police in Illinois respond to a chaotic scene outside a restaurant after a man slashes his ex-girlfriend's tires and flees into a drainage ditch, leading to a muddy arrest and multiple charges. >> Is that your car? Okay. Who is that? >> Nobody. Now, >> who? >> We broke up like weeks ago. >> Okay. So, like a boyfriend? >> Yeah. >> You guys have a child in common or just >> a child? >> Child? >> No. >> Yeah. So, just a boyfriend. How long were you guys together? >> Uh, almost a year. >> Okay. Uh, how did he get here tonight? >> I have no clue. He has been all from work. Yesterday I pulled up to come to work. He popped out the bushes. >> Okay. I mean, did he get dropped off? That's when he >> I have no clue. >> But >> no, just the one the back. >> I didn't I don't know how he got killed. I just came I was working. >> So, okay. So, we got him in custody. So, I guess he was running. Uh, I know he's got a warrant for some like weapons offenses and stuff like that. Did he have any guns on him likely tonight or anything? >> I didn't see no >> I didn't see any guns. >> Okay. All right. I just didn't know cuz he took off running. I didn't know if he would have had time to like ditch something if you think he had it >> cuz I I don't think he has anything on him now. But I mean he took off running so we could have easily right next to the water. >> Really found him. So I don't know. He threw something in the water. But >> okay. So you got a uh flat tire. What about that damage? >> He did all day. He did everything. >> Not today. Uh there's days when I'm not by my car. I don't I don't I don't see I'm in here working. I come back out and it's dents and stuff like that. >> I know it's him. >> All right. Do you have a driver's license? >> No. >> All right. So, tonight who called? Did you call? >> I had my bartender call because I I was talking. Did anyone Did he confront you in there or >> out here? >> I was back though. He was sitting there when I walked up. >> All right. >> Had he already done that or did he do that while you were >> No, that was when >> he did that probably yesterday or the >> No, the flat tire. >> He just did that when we just out here >> on the phone or before the when you guys were on the phone. >> So you watched him do that? >> A couple of people. >> They were all He was trying to get to all the tires and she was trying to make sure he didn't. So I was concerned about her with cuz I didn't know if he had a knife in his hand or what he was. >> Sure. So both of you two w watched him slash the tire though. >> Yeah. In fact, even Britney was here when she was on the phone. She seen it. >> I'll just grab all your guys' names as witnesses and everything. Uh let's come walking your car. >> So he tried to go like to that one and she was trying to get him away from it and the other one. And I'm trying to tell her I'm like your life is more important. >> Yeah. Did it get physical at all? >> A little bit. He jumps. He loaded. >> Yep. >> So, the damage that you watched him cause today was slashing the tire. >> Correct. >> Okay. Did he do anything else right here then in front of you today? >> Okay. And all that happened was So, let me So, you're working, right? Okay. Did he come in to work or did you meet him out here? >> He was She came and got me and said someone was >> there. There was I was told and I've never seen him. Okay. But my boss told me I guess cuz she was harassed the other day and I was off. He was hiding in the bushes and he would come in and he would just like sit there. This is what I've been told. So I never knew. I just knew that to look for somebody in a black sweatshirt with a backpack and kind of with a beard. So he didn't he was sat down in the foyer and I asked him. I said, "Can I help you?" She didn't say a word to me. So I'm like, "Okay, so far he's fit in the description of what I've been told." So I said, "Is that the guy?" And she came up and said, "What are you doing here?" And that's when he just started. And my and I told him I said, "You need I said, "You need to be off my premises. I need you out of the restaurant. You're not allowed in this restaurant." So then we got to the door. Then that's when he talked about getting your tires. Okay. So I'm letting the people all the guests are leaving thinking I'm holding the door for that. So I called my bartender over and told her to call my >> Where were you guys arguing at? >> Right about in here. >> Okay. Out in here. >> Yeah. I was not in the restaurant the argument >> because when I asked him to leave then he started talking to her >> slashing some time slashing. >> So did you walk out with him? So he >> I walked out before him. He followed me out and he and then she followed him out. >> Right. >> Cuz she went out to check out. >> Correct. >> And he was in there with a customer or just >> he was just sitting there. >> He was just sitting. There's like a little bench in the foyer. >> Okay. Inside just sitting there. How long have you been working >> here? >> Yeah. No, like today. >> Uh I've been since 10:30. left and took a break when my kids school back. >> Okay. So, all right. So, you ask him to leave. You walk out. Why did you walk out beforehand? >> Cuz he said he slashed my tires. >> Okay. So, he made that comment in there that he was going to slash your tires. >> She came out to look at her car cuz that's that's when she was like >> And he hadn't slashed his tires yet. >> No. >> He waited till we all came outside and then >> Okay. And then So, right in front of you. >> Yeah. >> All right. What do you do? Take it with a knife. Well, >> he had a pocket knife. >> And that's what that was the thing cuz he started going on the tires, >> but and wouldn't let him until he got to this one. >> Yeah, they were all >> Yeah. Was uh Did he Did you watch him slash it or did you like Did he do something with the mouse then or did he slash he and then he started and then my guy started coming out. >> Oh, right there maybe. I don't know if they got through. Maybe. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. There it is. >> Yeah. So, he just like did that and started taking off >> and then he started running after he did that. >> Well, I kept I told him I said the police are coming. >> I guess he heard you guys >> and and then my cooks were trying to say, "Hey, man." And I said, "No, we I said, "No, he's not somebody that we're going to make you can make peace with." >> You want to press charges on him for criminal damage property? He's going to have other charges from us from running from us. >> So, and he's he's got a warrant, so he'll be away for a little bit. >> Okay. >> Um, so you want to press charges against him for criminal damage property? >> Yeah. >> All right. Good deal. I got all your information. Uh the only thing is like if you can maybe I'll give you the reporting officer's name and email and if you could just maybe try to figure out how much a replacement tire is that the the offense kind of is uh >> dependent on the amount of damage caused which would be the cost to replace tire right >> basically. >> So uh and then he'll also have other charges from us from running and then he's got that warrant so he'll be gone for a while. No peace of mind for a while. >> Uh, is there anything else we could do for you? Do you guys have video cameras out here or anything? Nothing inside. >> No video cameras at all. Okay, let me just grab your information since you saw this and then I'll if I can just maybe like get the name of the person who called. You told someone else to call, right? >> I told Grab your phone and follow. >> Did she see him? So, >> she was she was talking telling the whole story as you everything that was going >> she witnessed the whole thing. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And you know this guy cuz he's been your old boy how long? >> About a year. >> For about a year and then now it's over. >> I mean we we >> So it's been done for a little bit. For a few weeks. >> Okay. All right. And and the reason And the reason I ask is just cuz like when we got the report, we just got to say how we know it was this person. What's What's his name? >> Quinn. Q U I N E. >> Q I N E. Uh then I'll just go grab that. Uh is she your bartender in there? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I'll just go grab her information since she saw. >> Yeah. >> Well, what's the guy's fault, too? There's like half my crew was out here. >> All right. I'll just grab her since >> Yeah. But like I said, she was on the phone. She was on the phone through the whole thing. >> Who called the police? >> Not you. Can I just grab your name and stuff? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, did you see Quinn slash retire? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, he was inside, right? >> He was standing right here. She followed outside. My manager went next. My manager yelled at me to come out there. We went out there. He was like, they were kind of like screaming at each other. Then he like kind of stepped towards my manager and the girl like the girl like back away. You know what I mean? He got mad. He started running over to her car. He like pushed her. He was trying to like slash like every tire. Like he was going around trying to do like every one. And then he finally got to that back one and slashed her. >> Okay. Was it physical? They said it wasn't physical. >> Huh? >> They said it wasn't physical. >> He pushed her. He like grabbed her up. >> Huh? >> Like when >> um she he started or she started walking away from him and then he like like pushed her and then just like got back like that. I don't know if he was trying to hug her. I don't know what he was trying to do. >> Like was she trying to keep him from getting to the tires? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They were They're like pushing each other trying to get him away from her tires, too. He was like pushing her like trying to get her away so he could slash them. >> Okay. Like all around the car. >> Yeah. Yeah. He was like going to like every tire. So he finally got to that back. >> Okay. She was kind of trying to push him away, too. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All righty. >> This is like a multiple occasion thing, though. Like he's been he sat out. >> Well, he's gone now. He's going to jail. He used to come and travel. >> All right, sounds good. See you. >> Look for it. What about you? Did you lose anything? He's still tired. I lost something. He ain't even tired. We don't give a All right. We don't care that you lost the shoe.
