Operation Base and Stoke is a multi-agency operation led by special constables on Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit. The operation is intended to focus on individuals who present the biggest risk to the innocent members of the public who use the roads in Cleveland and County Durham. Uh through the use of intelligence and ANPR, officers were able to address the use of the road weather vehicles and in five cases seized them for the safety of all road users. Special constables within Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit do receive a raft of extra training uh such as uh vehicle examiner's course and in the use of ANPR. Due to deep cuts to police budgets, it's absolutely essential to maintain a strong special constabulary who have the skill set and knowledge to effectively deal with roads policing matters. Uh this furthermore allows for normal response and neighborhood policing to continue without obstruction. Mhm.
