We've come here today to observe the crushing of a number of bikes that have been seized either as a result of criminal or antisocial use on the roads of County Durham and Darlington. We've got bikes here that have been taken from right the way across the force area. They're damaging public spaces. People are worried about being knocked over and causing great public concern. It's a big priority and this is why it's a priority for me. Well, the first thing for us to consider is the public safety danger not only for the bike riders themselves and we have seen fatalities in in recent times but also the unsuspecting members of the public who have to take avoiding action to prevent road crashes themselves. We are doing everything we can to make the roads as safe as possible and for those who are using them criminally and antisocially, you need to understand that with through operation endurance, we will hunt you down relentlessly and ensure that those bikes are seized and people will face the consequences of the law. Operation endurance is good because of the excellent community intelligence that we get. If you know where these bikes are being stored, who's riding them, give us the intelligence and we'll deal with it.
