This had the cup. She had the cup and I tried grabbing it and then she just said, "Fuck it." And she spilled it all over me, which is kind of dry, but if you were to smell me, I smell like wine. And this way, hit me in the lip. And I was like, "Get away." >> On June 28th, 2025, a domestic disturbance brought officers to the scene where a routine response soon turned into a heated confrontation. Hello. Hello. >> Had them off. Hi. How are you? >> Good. And you? better. >> What's going on? >> Um, I got hit in the face. >> Where at? >> Um, [snorts] in the right eye. >> And then, um, >> and well, it's probably, it just happened about 30 minutes ago. >> By who? >> My husband used to be on the front steps, >> which is about the first time he's hit me. So, I called my parents, that's my mother, to get picked up to be brought some more safe. Sorry. How did all this start? >> I was at home today um alone. I did not do anything. >> Um >> and I got I get hit a lot. So >> you what? I'm sorry. >> I get hit a lot. >> Okay. But what happened today? What triggered him? Obviously, there had to be some kind of an argument. Um [clears throat] he was mad at me just because um I'm an alcoholic but I'm fine today. Well, if I'm not fine, I don't feel great, but I didn't do anything today. I took a shower. I stayed home. I was resting. You >> say you're recovering? Is that what you just said? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> So, what again? What stemmed an argument between you two? If you're recovering, you're not doing anything wrong. That's not usually a start of an argument. No, it's not. No, it's not. No, it's definitely not start of an argument. Um, >> I don't actually really know what starts half the argument. >> Were you guys home the the whole day and then just out of nowhere something happened or were you gone? Was he gone? >> He was gone at a baseball game with my son. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And then he came home and um then got very angry with me and I said, "Why are you angry with me? I didn't do anything." >> Yeah, for sure. Did he explain it? >> Okay. >> Is anybody injured here? >> Um, >> I'm trying to figure out why my par the paramedics are staging here. So, obviously they're here. >> I don't other than getting hit as hard as I could in the right eye. Um, I don't think so. >> Okay. I don't know why they got hit points. >> Officer, your partner just took a photo of it. You might want to get her >> the what? >> A photo. >> Okay. Well, I don't know what he's doing. I'm talking to her. >> No. Can you take a photo of her face? >> He wants to take photos of her face. He can do it. I It's cold. He's going to >> Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> I'm just talking to her and keeping you guys entertained while he figures out what happened here. >> Well, there's two sides of the story. She's recorded usually is >> there. She's reported domestic abuse. >> Okay. >> And we're her parents. Um, and so we have close by and I just thanks that I and and >> I just wanted to get picked up. I didn't want police called. I wasn't even planning on calling police on him. I just wanted to get to a safe space. >> Got it. Okay. >> He called. >> Mhm. Right. >> Okay. >> Because he wants to report or you know that's what's going on. It's a It's a Who can tap? Who can tap? >> Who can what? >> Who can win? >> Um I really >> Who can win that? They often don't understand what starts the arguments. I just know that they end violently. >> Okay. >> I just wanted to get to a safe space and then he decided to call. So [cough] >> Okay. >> Yeah. Oh, well, so they're going to have a couple of questions for you and outside of that, there's no one going to see a reason for them to be here. So, let them just ask you a couple of questions and get their story straight so they can get out of here and uh so we can start wrapping this up. >> Okay, >> I'm not 100% sure who is who and who wants to be seen. >> She's involved. She's saying that she got hit in the face. Uh, so if you want to go through whatever story your guys' part, >> hello. >> Hi. Are you hurt? >> Nick's inside with the other hand. I'm not sure. >> Right eye is hard as possible. >> Um, but I did not call the cops. I called my >> I think it was I think you guys were originally called for her, but I'm sure she's not making any statements that would require you, but >> I'm just going to go Hi. >> Hi. >> What's going on? >> So, my wife's a recovering alcoholic >> and she's relapsed two weeks ago. Don't listen to anything my mother-in-law has to say here. >> Yeah, she wasn't here to call her away. Can you uh go wait somewhere where we're not standing right next to him? >> Yes, I can. I Nice that you have a partner. Thank you. >> I'm sorry. >> I see that you have a partner. I didn't realize I'm I'm a little upset. >> I understand. Thank you. So there's been an issue for the last two weeks. My wife made it 145 days sober and relapsed. >> Last week she had a seizure uh with there's an Elmhurst memorial like not the memorial but like you know she's like all these bruises are from all of uh the IVs that you had to do during a seizure. She was strapped down into a bed. Anyways, fast forward to today. >> I'm at baseball for like 6 hours today. come home, find a bottle of wine on the counter. She's yelling and screaming. I I tried grabbing the rest of her plastic cup and she jammed it into my face. I don't know if I'm bleeding, but it feels like I have a mark somewhere up here. >> Yeah, you got a little boil up on your upper lip. >> So, I said, "Fuck this. I'm calling cops." >> Fair enough. >> She's on court supervision. She's not supposed to be drinking. >> She's in violation of her court supervision. >> Okay. And >> she's claiming that I've been hitting her, but there's nothing. >> Um, she not she had six public safety guys holding her down >> just last third Wednesday or Thursday. She was strapped to a bed. >> Uh, what kind of cup did she shove in your face? >> It's a plastic orange count. There's a plast plastic orange cup. >> Can I see it? You mind if I come in with you? >> Yeah, for sure. I'm here. Stay downstairs, bud. I'll be I'll be done in a minute. Promise in the garbage can. Get home. I'm at baseball with my son. He's downstairs. He's playing video games, watching movies. >> Uh, grab this thing. She has this and she jabs me in the face. >> Yeah. going on. And obviously there's this whole mess. I said >> that's it. I've been trying to avoid having to call the cops because she's on court supervision. I know >> we agreed to get separated, but she's like her parents are so on a power trip because she's like freaking out about losing this house. And I was like, "Listen, I'll just we're going to dissolve the house. We're going to move on. I'm at baseball all day long. come home. She's drinking it and she was So then she pulled this actually it was sitting here full of wine and when I tried grabbing it uh now it's like standing here and we were like and she went so the wine splash all over you too. >> Yes. >> Okay. And kind of this way. >> Okay. Um, do you know what she's going to tell me? >> Uh, during this when I was trying to grab it, I mean, she was here. I tried grabbing it. She jabagged me and I went like this across her face. >> There was no open hitting or anything like that. >> So, so she tried to hit you with like a while. >> No, this had the cup. She had the cup >> and I tried grabbing it and then she just said, "Fuck And she spilled it all over me, which is kind of dry, but if you were to smell me, I smell like wine. And this way, hit me in the lip. And I was like, "Get away." >> So, I guess my question is, were you guys fighting over the cup or did she intentionally shove the cup in your face? >> Intentionally shoved it in my face. >> Well, actually, I tried. All right. So, I don't know how the terminology I tried to grab it >> and once she was like realizing that she couldn't drink it, >> she just said, "Fuck you." and like tried to spill it on me, but I'm right here and it hit my face. >> And >> so, do you think that she tried to hit you with the cup or do you think she was trying to splash the alcohol or just give up and dump the cup? >> I think she tried to dump it into my face as hard as possible. >> All right. >> Intentionally, possibly hitting me in the face. Who knows? Okay. >> Um, but it did hit me in the face. I remember initially touching my face and having blood. I don't have blood now. I haven't looked in the mirror. Um, But this has been like 2 weeks and I'm like she's been staying at her parents and then coming back during the day. She's walking around. She's begging me for booze. I have some video of her standing in the garage yesterday. She's like so what's going on with like uh she's like give me a beer. Give me a beer. >> What's up man? He's got a little covenant up that >> you need. >> No, I don't think so. I haven't seen it. Is it >> There's a It's a very minor. Yeah. >> I mean, she just jabbed the cup in my face. She meant to splash blast >> this one right here. She just went like bam. And I mean, it was jarring, but like she hit my lip or something right here. >> I could feel it. I don't know. >> And um I think it was primarily for her. >> Sure. Yep. I just want to double check. >> Um >> but then she's going to her parents house and she's like, "Look at all these bruises on my arms." But literally, she got she had to be held down during this seizure. I mean, there has to be pictures or uh evidence. None of this is >> No, I mean, if it's bruised already, like she's already healing. >> She had to be strapped down. She had to be detained. She got strapped down ankles, arms. They She was wiggling around so much that And she goes to her parents house and she's like, "Oh, he's hitting me. He's hitting me." But I'm like, that's from they they tried six times to put an IV in your arm because you were so [ __ ] up and that one and you just had a seizure >> and now her parents are like, "Oh, you must be kidding my daughter." And I'm like, "Are you kidding me? Do you know what?" And then my father-in-law didn't tell my mother-in-law why she was in the hospital until Yes. I I told her yesterday. I was like, "Listen, she was she had a grandma seizure on our back porch here >> because she tried with um detoxing here in the house >> solo." >> Okay, I'm going to give you one of these. I don't know if you got one of these before. >> I've had one of these before. This is the third time that we know we have to every time there's a domestic issue, we have to give them to people. Um so, just so you know, just you scan the QR code, it takes you to a fake website, click the link at the top to the bottom of the page, brings you to the DuPage County website for domestic violence resources, places to stay. um family intervention or crisis intervention options if you need it. Um I have to talk to her obviously. She's probably get one too. Um depend depending on what she says she might I'm not going to lie, she might be getting arrested today because there's obvious signs of injury. My hands are kind of tied um as minor as it is. >> She is in violation of her court situation. >> That's something that the court has to deal with. I can't I can't violate her. >> She's um rescheduled. She she's rescheduled her uh first meeting with her um not her court but um parole officer I guess maybe I don't know >> probation officer probably >> something like that >> because she doesn't have to do any uh like community service or anything she's supposed to drive out there and she's rescheduled it three times because >> first time she was drunk second time a she was drunk b actually my son did bring he goes to the YMCA for uh summer camp and he did bring something. We all had like a cold, so she was actually sick. He believed it, but she was also gone. >> All right. Yeah, whatever h the probation or the course of revision, that's going to be up to the judge. Um, so today, this is going to be documented no matter what. There's a good chance she's getting arrested today. Um, so like I said, there was >> some confrontation when I was like after she hit me and the cup went flying, >> you know, cuz it was over there. I picked it up and put it back over all over. >> Uh, but yeah. >> Okay. So, after she hit you in the cup and the or the face with the cup, >> I said, "Fuck this. >> I've been putting this off for so long cuz I don't want my wife to go to jail." Actually, we've actually just talked about separating. Um, but I don't need the mother of my child going to jail. I was like, I can't deal with this anymore. All day long, she's pacing. She She's begging for me for drinks. It's ridiculous. And now her parents rather [ __ ] >> I got you, man. Um, it's tough. I'm not going to lie. It's not going to get any easier. >> No, it's not. >> She's got to want the help and want to actually get better. >> Well, the funny thing is that she actually called uh she's been to rehab three time or four times. The last time she AMA, just like this seizure, >> Mhm. They wanted her to be there for 4 days and a day and a half in, she aimed herself out, >> calling me 10,000 times. I'm I'm They said I'm good to go. They said I'm like, there's no [ __ ] way you're good to go. >> And then I had the hospital calling me saying, "Listen, she's AMA, which is against medical advice." And if you don't come and pick her up, we're going to make other arrangements for her to go to her home, which is 245 East. And I was like, "Well, [ __ ] I might as well come pick her up other than her walking home or having to pay for a >> $50 cab or something. So, I picked her up. Same [ __ ] starts all over again. Okay. >> All right. I'm going to go talk to her and then um I'll get back to you if I need anything. Okay. >> Lisa. >> Yes. >> Right. All right. So, this is my area. I'm the reporting officer. So, I know you probably already told him what happened, but I need you to tell me again. Okay. >> Yeah. Um, I was home alone today and then my husband came home and got upset. I do not know why, even though I know that sounds unusual and I got hit in the right eye as hard as possible. So, I called my parents just to get some mercy and then he just said, "Good." >> Okay. Was there anything else that happened that you're leaving out? >> No. >> Okay. So, what about the wine? The bottle of wine and the cup full of wine. Oh, I that's not true. >> Well, I mean, there's wine all over the counter and there's an empty bottle of wine. He's got a cut on his face where he said that you jabbed a cup into his face. >> I didn't jab a cup into his face. >> Okay. So, why would he have a cut on his upper lip? >> Um, my husband drinks a lot. >> Okay. How did he You said he hit you in the face. How did he hit you? >> Open palm to the right. >> Which hand? Um, I believe it was I guess it would have been his left hand and my right eye. >> What happened after that? >> Um, I called my parents immediately and just said, "I want to get out of here to be in the safe space and that's when they came." >> Okay. All right. Did he hit you anywhere else? >> Not today. >> Okay. All right. Will you do me a favor? Turn around. Put gas on your back. Battery. What? >> Hold on. Hold on. >> She wants to tell you a little battery. >> He's not being arrested. >> That's what he wanted. No doubt. >> That's what he wanted. one of those female custome. >> Can I ask you a question? >> Sure. We're going to go in the car first. Okay. >> Can I Could I ask? >> No, you cannot ask me a question. >> How is a seat for me, please? >> Yes. >> Thank you. How did this happen? >> So, right now, >> based on the circumstances, you're leaving out parts of the story that are very obviously true to me that where there's wine involved in that you had been drinking. He's got obvious signs of injury on him and you've got signs of injury that appear to be healing already, but it doesn't appear that this happened to me today. He told me that you were in the hospital before and had to be strapped down. Oh, that's what the bruising has caused from all the IVs in your arm. So, >> this is the third time that I've been in trouble for getting hit. >> Okay. And that's that's also taken into account all the previous issues. Okay. However, given the circumstances, >> somebody has to go to jail there. There's obvious signs of injury. I don't have a choice. I'm mandated by the state of Illinois to make an arrest. I don't have a choice in this. This is something the state says we have to do. So, what's going to happen from here? Um, you're going to go back to the station, you're going to be processed, and you're going to be transported to the New DuPage County Jail. All right? You'll see a pre-trial judge in the morning. Um, if there's any previous >> Don't put me in jail or not. >> Unfortunately, I I >> Can you put my handcuffs at least in front? I guess >> we're like we're going back to the station right now. Okay. It's like three blocks away. And then I'm going to take the handcuffs off when we get there. All right. Um, but for now, they have to stay in the back wall in the car. It's just policy. Okay. All right. So, give me a few minutes. All right. We'll be on the way. You have the DV sub, man. You got the beat yourself up. Thank you. >> Come on, man. >> What? >> All right. I got a couple questions to ask you. >> Yes. >> Some of them are going to Well, you're cool looking. >> That's Milo. >> My boy. Excuse me. >> I'm sorry. Milo. Hi, buddy. You're cool looking. You got a cool face. >> Some of these questions might sound weird. They're just here. >> Okay. >> It's a list that I got and that's why I got to read them off to you. >> Yes. >> You guys are husband wife? >> Yes. >> Uh, has there ever been an order protection issued between the two of you? >> No. >> Have we been here before? >> Yes. >> Uh, in the past, has she ever hit, slapped, kicked you or anybody else? Uh me. >> It's just yes or no. >> Oh yes. >> Yes. Okay. >> Uh threaten to harm the police if they were called. >> Uh that's why she has a police she that's what that's why she has a court order against her right now because she um attacked a female officer. >> I know. Was she ever threatened to harm us if you come? >> Threaten like verbally on >> No. Did he Did she ever tell you you call the police, I'm going to do something to him? >> Yes. Fantasize about harming or killing someone. >> Me? Yes. >> Harm pets or other animals? >> No. >> Threatened to harm you if you called the police? >> Yes. >> Strangled you? >> No. >> Threatened to kill you? >> Yes. >> Threatened to kill herself? >> Yes. >> Prevented you from seeking assistance? >> Doesn't like take bones away if you try to call the police? >> No. uh threatened you with any weapons? >> Well, the last time I called the police, I was on the phone with dispatch and she grabbed the knife from the knife block. So, would that be a yes? I was on the phone call with dispatch and I was I don't know if they record that, but I was like, she just grabbed a knife from the knife block and she was >> Does she have access to firearms? >> No. >> She have a 40 card? >> No. You guys live together and my understanding is there was a child around there's a child around here. >> He hasn't seen any of this. >> Okay, >> that's a good thing. >> Actually, he has no idea that you're even hearing serious. Um, he was playing video games against, but now it sounds like he's watching YouTube. >> How old is he? Uh, do you have Okay. So, yes. Is that your only child? >> And she's the mom, right? >> She is the mom. Yeah, she is the mother. >> They You said they never witnessed this, >> correct? There's been no harm. He hasn't witnessed a whole lot of anything. >> We like if we do argue, uh, he hasn't seen like anything. So, that's >> Has your family ever been contacted by DCFS? >> No. Uh, have either of you experienced any recent changes in your life? Separation, divorce, job loss, death and family, anything? >> No, we as of yesterday we talked about getting separated, >> okay, >> and uh possibly fine for divorce. And we rent this household and I was I was like, listen, I'm going to have to um surrender this and um move on. My mom is making preparations for us to move down there. And her parents were going to help me with this and now I guarantee they're not because they're pissed off. And um she abuse alcohol or drugs. >> Yeah. Alcohol massively. >> That's what this is all about is this. She's supposed to be detoxing. And I'm I don't know where she got the money for this bottle of wine because we cut her off from everything. I show up and there's a bottle of wine and then I was like, "That's old. That's old." And I'm like, I just took the garbage out earlier because I I've been at baseball. My son does farm league in Builder Park here. So, we were at baseball for the whole um end of season party and I've been gone all day long. Walk in the door, not even here for 5 minutes. And >> what kind of alcohol you drink? Uh well today uh >> in general >> uh vodka or wine? >> How often? >> Daily is the uh substance abuse increased recently? >> Yes, for sure. The last two weeks she was 145 days. >> Well, apparently Not to off my knowledge, she admitted to her mother that she had. She was getting overwhelmed that she was turning 40, wanted to be a normal person. We went to Thursday night in the park over here. She ran into some old friends. Everyone was drinking and then we went over and had a cocktail or a mocktail, but she ordered a real one. And that's when it all really started in my world. Okay. And then um it went downhill from there. She's been um when she had money left over in her account, she was I found some bottles of vodka. Now I'm finding wine. >> Going back to this list. Uh so she you obviously had injuries on you. Kids are fine. Did she threaten you today? >> Just with the >> just um any threats now other than throwing a cup of wine in my [clears throat] in my face and hitting my face. >> Disabled remove the telephone? >> No. >> Preventing you from seeking assistance? >> No. Forced entry? >> No. >> Took property? >> No. >> Damaged property? >> Well, she did smash some stuff yesterday. She >> during today's argument. >> No. No. >> I followed a stalk you. >> No. >> Threaten to attempt suicide. >> Not today. >> Okay. Are you concerned with any of the following things? Concerned about future assaults? >> From the backyard, possibly. >> Okay. Children in the home. You have a telephone. It's not a land line, right? >> No, just we just have cell phones. >> Okay. You don't have a you don't have limited access to transportation. >> You have a car? >> I have taken the keys away from her. >> No, but for you I'm talking about >> Yeah, we're good. Yes. >> Geographical distance from supports like your family is close enough. >> Yes. All right, that's all we need. All right, very good. Thank you. >> Good luck with everything. >> Yeah, I'm good.
