On January 28th, 2025, police responded after a mother reportedly called 911 over a troubling situation involving her daughter. What officers encountered quickly turned into a serious intervention. >> What happened after you left? >> Oh, she >> Somebody said >> She's gathering [ __ ] all over the place. She wants Now she wants the cell phone that that she turned off and won't let HER HAVE IT. >> OKAY. >> YOU CALLED 911. >> UH-HUH. >> Which is a good thing. >> Did she do that? >> She did that. >> What what was she doing when she did that? >> Well, she was gathering [ __ ] on my side of the bed that you know to charge the phone and [ __ ] >> Mhm. >> And um I was trying to take it back away from her so that she can't get it. Um and then after that didn't work she took her forehead and she slammed it right into the end of my nose. And I'm still >> a headbutt? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And I'm still seeing stars. It it hurts so bad. >> Okay. You want the fire department to come check you out, make sure you don't have like anything weird going on? >> Um if they could. >> Okay. >> I don't think I need an ambulance but paramedics or somebody to look at it. >> Dispatch our fire 55 pieces. >> Um but she's in the house and I don't know if I press assault charges on her if they could do a um medical check on her while they have her. >> Well, well, well, medical checks and charges are two different things. >> Yeah, that's what I was >> There's criminal and mental health is >> Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. >> Mental health people sometimes commit crimes but it's not like a you go to the hospital instead of going to jail type of thing. >> Yeah. >> Do you mind if I take a picture of your your bite mark there? That looks pretty >> Yeah. And it hurts really bad. >> And then she got you in the nose right there, you said? Anywhere [snorts] else that she hurt you? >> No, just those two places. I left the room and came to call you guys at >> Okay, and you're able to get the phone that works? >> Well, well, no. I have the one that doesn't work that but I can still call 911. >> still Oh, okay, I got you. >> Yeah. >> And this was still all over the phone? >> Yeah. >> She's She's still arguing about the phone? >> Yeah, she wants this phone from me. She don't want me to have it at all. >> And what side is the bedroom on? Is it this side or that side? >> It's this side. >> It's this side over here? >> Right inside that where the air conditioner's at. Those two windows is where the bedroom is at. >> Okay. And so she was you guys were fighting over the phone? >> Yeah, she pushed me. >> pushed you and then did she grab you on the bike or how did >> Well, I was REACHING FOR THE I HAD MY HANDS on the phone the charger and she had her hands on the charger so she just so she just bent over So she she just bent down and bit my arm trying to get me to release the charger. >> So you're just holding the charger and that's >> Yeah, and she just bent down and bit me. >> Okay. It wasn't like you were like pulling her hair. It was you were holding the charger and she just >> And she just chomped down and she bit me trying to get me to release the charger. >> And then after she bit you she That's when she headbutted you? >> Yeah. So I had the charger the whole time. I didn't have her at all. >> And and who had the phone? Was it you or >> Yeah, the phone's been in my pocket but she wanted me to give it to her and I wouldn't give it to her. >> And you wanted the you needed the charger >> But I needed the charger to be able to charge the phone when it goes dead. >> And then she wanted to try not let you use it. >> She wanted to keep a hold of the charger to make sure that I can't >> So she's kind of kind of holding it hostage kind of. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And when it wasn't going her way she bit you. >> She bit me. >> And then headbutted you. >> Yeah, but she'd already tried to get a hold of my purse. She was going to steal my purse and I got that back away from her and it's just been >> one thing after another. >> Yeah. >> Do you need to sit down or anything? I know you said you kind of >> No, it just it just hurts real bad. >> It still hurts. >> I you know, I seen stars there for a while. >> And then did you just come out on a sign call or >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah, I left her in the bedroom. She's probably gathering up all kinds of [ __ ] on my side of the bed. >> Okay. You guys sleep in the same room or >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, do me a favor and hang out right here. I'll have the the fire department to come check you out. They can run some like vitals. They can clean up your your bite mark cuz you know, you don't want to you don't want to get infected or anything. >> like she went down further cuz there's even um, like holes down here. >> Yeah. Will you stay out right here? Let me do some stuff on my computer real quick, okay? Hello, police department. Okay, I'm going to come talk to you over here, okay? And is it okay if I come over here? >> Yes. >> Okay. Any weapons in the home? Anything I should know >> She has some guns over there. >> Okay. >> Um, how do I >> No, okay. Just do me a favor, just don't >> Um, I really want you to stay there so that I can make sure that I'm being treated fairly this time. >> That's fine. You can put the phone down whenever you need to. Just make sure you don't reach for anything, okay? And we'll be good. Okay. What do you have right here? Is it like a bag? >> It's my purse. >> Okay, just don't reach in there. >> I just don't want >> I know. I'm asking you not to reach in there. I'll put it right here, okay? Okay. I know. So, what's what's going on today? >> She got in my face after you guys came out the first time. >> Okay. >> I told you she assaulted me. She jumped out onto my back over a cell phone. >> Okay. And this happened the first time we came? >> Right before you guys came in the first time. >> Okay. >> And the officers thought it was funny >> [snorts] >> because I [clears throat] think she really needs to be put on a psych hold. I mean, she has to label her meds as to what they're for. >> Okay. >> Um >> So, what happened after they left? >> I came in to grab my phone cuz I was going to go up to Nissan and straighten out what's going on with my car. >> Okay. >> And when I asked her for my cell phone, she looked at me and she said, "You don't need it." >> Okay. >> My account is in my name, my name only. All of the devices are under my name and my name only. And I've already reported the tablet stolen because she will not hand that over either. Um so, I don't need it. >> So, you came over here to charge your phone and >> I came over here to get the cable to charge my phone. And that's when she started uh getting on top of me, trying to yank stuff out of my hands, and claiming that I did not need to do anything, that I pay for everything and all this other crap. She refused to get off me after I told her to several times. >> Okay. >> And when she still refused, yeah, I bit her to get her off me, on her left wrist, inside. >> Okay. >> When she still refused to get off me, I head-butted her in the damn nose to get her off me cuz she was physically sitting there. >> So, where were you guys exactly? In this spot right here? >> Yeah. >> And she was How was she? Like >> Over the top of me. >> Like sitting straddling over you? >> She was damn near laying on top of me. >> Okay. And what was What was the purpose? What was she trying to get from you? >> She was preventing me from charging a phone so that I could call you guys. Because the first time you were out here, you thought it was so funny. And I told you if she assaulted me again, I was going to defend myself. >> Okay. >> So, I did. >> So, I guess what I'm not getting is So, we left >> hard to understand. >> Okay, well, that's why I'm asking you these questions, okay? So, we left and you were going to call us right back and she just started jumping on you. >> going to go up to Nissan to get my car. >> Okay. >> Because Nissan's been holding it. >> And she was refusing to let you call Nissan. >> refusing to give me any kind of following. >> Okay. >> She has my phone. >> Okay, that makes more sense. I was trying to figure out why you were calling in the first place. >> to give me any of my property. >> Okay. >> Back. >> All right. >> It started because she had If you look in the um middle pocket there the stuff that is loose was in her purse. >> Okay. When you bit her, you said it was your left wrist? >> Left inside wrist. >> So, she must have She was facing you or how did >> Yeah, she was facing me. Literally, like facing me right here. >> And was she like sitting on this desk? >> Damn near, yes. >> Okay. And so, you bit her and then what happened after you bit her? >> She still refused to get off me. And I kept telling her to get off of me. And she still kept fighting over her stupid phone cord and not wanting me to charge this one so that I could call you guys for help. >> Okay. And then >> And after that since she would not get off me, you're damn straight I head butted her in the nose cuz her face was right here. >> Okay. All right. So, initially, she was stopping you from calling Nissan and then you told her you're going to call them. >> me from calling anybody. Said I did not need a phone. I did not need my tablet. I did not need anything. >> Okay. All right. Uh let me wait till the other officer is done talking and then he'll come in here and we'll figure everything out. What's the plan after this? Like, are you going to >> I want her arrested. >> For? >> Really? If I have to headbutt somebody to get them out of my face, there's a reason. >> Okay. Well, I'm just asking cuz you said you want her arrested. I don't know if there's anything else that occurred, right? >> I think she needs to be put on a psych hold. >> So, let's I'm asking you this, if there is if we do have to leave without charging anybody, are you >> be leaving without charging anybody, officer. >> Okay, ma'am. Well, I'll come back and talk to you then in a little bit. I'm trying to help you out as much as I can. >> trying to understand why she can assault me. >> I get it, but I'm trying to figure out what >> also a disabled adult. >> Yes, ma'am. So, you're trying to contact Nissan, right? >> I'm trying to get up there to get my car. >> That's what I'm asking. So, if if any worst-case scenario, we can't arrest anybody, you can I give you a ride to Nissan? >> Um >> Would that be a possibility? >> Yeah. >> Just so we can separate you two. I get it, but again, I'm trying to figure out the end game here and how we can help you out as best as we can. Okay. I'll be right back, okay? >> Uh so, this female got in an argument with her daughter who's inside. Um she got bit pretty good on the the wrist and I guess she got headbutted in the nose. >> Okay. >> So, she said she seen stars and kind of >> She headbutted me with her nose or with her forehead right in my nose. >> Got it. Okay. All right. We should We should check out your nose, okay? You want to put pressure on it? Does that hurt? >> Yeah, a little bit. >> Yeah? >> Not a whole lot, but a little bit. >> All right. Okay. Look great. You want to look at the bite marks? You got the bite marks? Those ones? >> Let me check those out. >> What's What times are just ones? >> It's the one. >> Okay. Nothing on the other side? >> this one from something different. Now, this >> All right. Go ahead. Look at this probably really far away if you want. All right, if it feels comfortable for you. >> all the way up. >> There you go. >> How long ago was this? >> Uh about uh 40 minutes now. >> All right. Let me check your eyes. Did you lose consciousness when you got hit in the face? >> Pardon? >> Did you lose consciousness? >> No. No, just saw stars. >> You just saw stars. Okay. Okay. >> [snorts] >> Are you going to want to go to the hospital with me, ma'am? >> No, I don't think >> We'll check out your eyes, too. >> Okay. >> So, there's only so much we can do. >> Thank you. >> That makes one of us. >> [laughter] >> So, uh there's only so much we can check out here. We can't do x-rays, obviously. You know, there was uh >> Yeah. I just >> to get that cleaned off, obviously, cuz you know, it's not pretty dirty. You don't want that getting infected. Uh she can clean it with some water. I mean, it's not necessarily being rubbed on something like put some antiseptic or some sort or some mild soap just to clean it out, get it recorded. >> What's your phone number, ma'am? >> She came out here earlier. Uh me and her brother. And it was kind of civil dispute with cell phones. She was claiming that she jumped on the back of my stuff. She did break It's like she She walked. She's like, So, it was one of those like, Well, we were trying to tell her like there's nothing we can do. Maybe the officers will help you with it. She got violent. She was like, "Fine." Well, once she comes around, we'll do something. I threatened you. >> Yeah. >> And they are Now, she's actually left. We're still arguing about the phone situation. And she has the phone and charges in her bedroom and I guess they share the same bed. Yeah. She's trying to get the charger. So she's like, "No, I'm going to get the charger." And I pulled it hostage. And then that she just went and grabbed both of her [ __ ] out of her hair. Her wrist and then head butt her in the nose. Her nose is bleeding. She said she saw stars. And she came to the side and she called 911. And then on the corner of the note she called right after her. And I told the dispatcher she was hitting her head. Yeah. So this is what she was talking about. Yeah. As soon as you guys left they went to charge my phone so I could call 911. She said, "No, that's my phone. That's my phone." She was on top of me. And so to get her off of me I head butt her. She still didn't get off of me so I head butt her. She said she was like on the side of the bed too like really hard. What does she mean on top like she's laying on her? She said that she's facing cuz so there's a like there's Yeah, there's a little gap between the bed. So I'm assuming your mom like straddled her. Oh, like trying to get around? Yeah, just like get over her and grab the phone. To get the To get the charger. She was sitting on the bed. She said yeah. This is what happened. She was super upset but okay. Yeah. Yeah. Huh? She threatened to do it before we left too. Yeah. What was it she was trying to do? She was saving her parking over there. phone charger. So I let her get fixed up. She was 1080s to a wreck. Yeah, she was sitting there talking to dispatch. She was Yeah, she's on 911 because I laid it out for her last time. Oh, like cuz she was mad because I would take her to the speeding. Yes, ma'am. Yeah, not yet. I'm working on it. Uh no, ma'am. I won't do that right now. Okay? For what? >> Okay, uh you can get the the drink from the fridge if you like. >> So, you don't want to go to the hospital? >> No, I'm fine. >> Yes, ma'am. We're good. >> I still like you guys to be safe. >> Yes, ma'am. Thank you very much. >> I appreciate it. >> Have a good day. All right. So, let me explain what's going to happen now, okay? Is based on what happened earlier today, the threat she made towards you, calling dispatch saying what she did to you, you telling what she did to you, and you have a bite mark and a red nose consistent with the reason that you've done, we have probable cause that she committed battery against a household member, okay? And in New Mexico, it it it it doesn't matter if the victim wants to pursue charges or not, the state is the one that actually pursues charges, because it's a family deal, okay? Um so, she's going to go to jail. All right. She's going to get charged with battery against a household member. I know you brought up the fact of like maybe she needs some mental help or something like that. Maybe this is what could be ordered by a judge or something when the judge reviews this case. Maybe they can look at it and be like, all right, cool. Instead of jail, maybe she needs to go get some type of treatment or go see a doctor, maybe medication, maybe she needs a therapist, maybe maybe the judge can actually look at the case and be like, instead of jail, we need to look at a different alternative thing to make everybody better, you know what I mean? Cuz you are mother and daughter, you guys have a relationship, you live together, all that stuff, okay? So, you know, we're not just trying to throw people in jail and forget about them. >> Is is there any way that you can make sure that she leaves her cell phone here? >> Um I can ask, but I can't like start pulling her stuff out. If she wants to take her stuff with her to the jail, we can take it to the jail. >> Um the reason I'm asking is since mine is turned off, >> Mhm. >> that way I can call and try and keep this started. >> Mhm. >> Um and that way we can maybe move forward with getting her help. >> Yeah. Like like I said, we we can ask if we can leave this stuff here, but I I can't with property. We we can't We don't have any say so really. >> Yeah. >> Um if she wants to take it with her and you don't have a phone besides the one that you can call 911 with, I would recommend like maybe give it to the neighbors, call a friend, be like, "Hey, can I borrow your phone? I need to make a phone call real quick." Blah blah blah and >> Yeah. >> Just get something set up in the meantime, okay? >> Yeah. >> Um do you have any questions what's going to happen right now? All right. Well, I'm going to go talk to my partner. We'll We're going to get her put in handcuffs, okay? If you can just do me a favor stay out here. When we bring her out, don't look at her. Don't just pretend she doesn't exist cuz we don't want her to >> My dogs. >> Yeah. We we don't want her to get more amped up and cause a bigger scene than it needs to be, okay? >> And you'll need to bring her down to the ground. >> Yeah, I figured. >> Yeah. >> All right. All right. Stay out here, okay? >> Oh, hell no. You are not going to arrest me. >> Yes, for battery against a household member, ma'am. >> Excuse me. My name is on that lease just as much as hers. And the next time she gets >> It's not anything about a lease. >> She got on top of me and assaulted me. So I defended myself. And you're going to arrest me? >> Would you like to take this bag with you to get with you? >> Oh, it's going with me because I'm >> I accept you have to detention center, but I can grab your purse for you. >> Oh, that's bull. Somebody needs to come in here now. >> Okay. So I'm asking >> Cuz I'm being arrested for defending myself. >> going to do is take your wallet and your phone, okay? Is there anything else you would like us to take? >> Yeah. >> [snorts] >> I'd like a real officer here that understands the law. When your own mother No. >> You Ma'am. >> No, hell no. >> to walk to the car, okay? >> Then I hope she's under arrest, too. >> She's not under arrest. >> Why? >> Because she did not commit battery against a household member. >> I live here. >> I understand that. >> Check my ID. >> It doesn't matter. I believe you live here. >> I have lived here longer than she has. >> And household member does not mean that you live together. It's your guys' relationship. It's a mother-daughter relationship. >> And she never should have been on top of me attacking me in the first place. >> All right, ma'am. We're going to walk this way, okay? >> Then I would like another officer here, please. >> It's not how this works, ma'am. >> Female officer now. >> how this works, ma'am. >> Yes, it is. I am a female. SOMEBODY HELP! HELP, you [ __ ] Hell, no! I'm still a criminal, officer. No, you are not. >> You can be charged with resisting. >> Then arrest that [ __ ] right there. Cuz I pressed charges on her. You're going to hear me and you're going to hear me now. >> For what? >> Because you are hurting somebody out of their own home. >> Is there a medical emergency right now? >> I'm about to. >> All right. Have a seat inside. Have a seat inside. >> No! >> I'll explain to you why you're getting charged. Have a seat inside. >> I shouldn't be charged with anything. >> Have a seat inside. >> You can be charged with resisting. >> Then take the cuffs off cuz I can't get in there without my hands. >> So, pick up your left foot and you can pick up this. Pick it up. >> Really, sir? >> Yes, ma'am. Put it in the car. And then I'll help you get in. >> No, you will not. >> [clears throat] >> So, you want to pick up that charge of resisting? >> Then arrest her as well. >> Yes or no? >> I cannot get out. Cannot get in that car without use of my hands. >> Turn this way. Pick up your foot. >> He's showing you how the easiest way to get in. >> And the easiest way for me to get in is with my hand. >> Well, that's not going to happen. >> You want to recuff me, then cuff me. >> be two options. You can get charged with resisting and I'll help you get inside the vehicle. Or you can get inside the vehicle >> Officer, I have a heart condition. >> This is the last time I'm going to give you this this option to get inside on your own. Either way, we're taking you down to the >> an ambulance now. >> You're not going to go inside an ambulance. >> Well, when I pass out >> You want to call one? >> Because my heart rate's getting too high? >> Hey, you 7715. So we're calling one, but you still need to sit inside. They're going to ask you to do the same thing. They're not going to sit you in their car. >> I can stand here just fine. I'm no threat. >> you don't need an ambulance if you can stand here just fine, right? >> You guys want to keep back talking. Cuz you know what you're doing is illegal. >> You are detaining the wrong person. >> You're not detained. You're under arrest. >> For what? >> Battery on a household >> Hey sir, fire back out here and check on the >> I gave you and your mom to me. I gave you your options. >> When she attacked me first and I defend myself, I'm the one getting charged with battery. >> So I was going to explain that before you interrupted me right now. You and your mom were arguing over phones when we were out here initially with the >> Yes, I was. >> and that's okay. You guys can argue over whatever it is civilly. >> Then he shouldn't have been laughing at me. >> you bit her and headbutted her is when you took it to the next level and that's why you're getting charged. >> Because she would not get off of me. >> You guys were both going for the phone and reaching and arguing for the phone. >> And I was on the phone. >> to bite her and you decided to headbutt her. >> So what, I'm supposed to just let her smother me? >> That's not how this works, ma'am. >> Then explain it to me. >> You guys are obviously both going over a phone, right? You decided to buy it. >> a phone because she would not give me my devices back. >> Okay. Again, I need you to have a seat inside. I explained you why you're under arrest. We can argue that in court if you like, but that decision's made already. Okay? So, we need to go through the process and I don't want to see you pick up another charge for just simply not getting in the car. >> I don't see why there's a problem unless there's an ambulance on the way. >> What do you mean? You're going to They're going to have you sit down so they can check your vitals, too. So, we need to sit down in the car. Either way, you need to sit down. >> And I will sit right here. >> Pick up your feet and sit in the car. >> I can't. What part of medical issues >> What medical issue is stopping you from sitting in the car? >> You can see how slow my legs are. >> Okay. Well, then I can help you pick up that foot if you like. >> I'd rather you not touch me and I'd rather you get your hands off me now. >> That's not how this works, ma'am. You're not You're under arrest right now, okay? You're not calling >> I'm handcuffed and I'm sitting down. >> Yeah, but how are we going to escort you? How are we going to drive you over there? >> Drive me where? >> To the station. Or to the detention center, whatever this officer decides to do. Either way, you're going to jail. >> are out of control? >> No, but we're having an ambulance on the way. >> Well, when I pass out cuz I can't breathe >> I would prefer you sitting down if you were to pass out rather than fall standing up. And that's why I asked you to sit inside the car. >> They're on the way as well. I just told you. >> Then I hope they >> Here we are. I've been extremely patient with you, man. I just don't know why you're not working with me. >> Okay, you see the way I'm breathing? >> Still no excuse to not sit in my car or sit in the officer's car. >> I'm about to have a heart attack. >> Okay. >> Or pass out. Or do you guys have any kind of medical equipment? >> I have Narcan if you took any kind of drugs. And I'm certified in CPR, but >> Sir, I really going to to get some fresh air now. >> You're sitting You're outside the vehicle, man. >> Sir, can somebody please come explain this? >> Explain what? >> Why I'm having a breathing episode. >> Do you have any medical conditions I should be aware of? >> Asthma. >> Okay. >> Sir, I am about to pass out. Officer. >> I'm I'm keeping an eye on you, okay? I've been watching you this whole time. Yeah, the ambulance is on the way. >> Sir, could you please please uncuff me? I will not go anywhere. >> That's not how this works. >> Sir, I really need to get my arms out from behind my back. Now. Please. >> Hey, do you have a a belly chain? No? Can you stand by with her real fast? >> Sir, >> Yeah. >> I have to stand up. >> Okay. >> Please uncuff me. >> I think I do. Let me see what we can relieve you of that issue. >> He's going to get a chain, that way he can bring the cuffs to your front, okay? That way it's a little bit more >> Can I get some fresh air, please? Please hurry and uncuff me. >> He's [snorts] He's getting the chains. >> No, sir, I need to brace myself so I can do my breathing. Please. I will not hurt you guys. I am no threat. So, please. >> If you were to sit in the car, >> I can't. >> you could relax. >> I can't until I get my breathing under control. And if you would, you know where my heart rate's at. Feel my heart rate. If you think I'm lying. >> heart rate. >> I'm going to go under your arms, okay? I'm going to It's going to go around your your belly. >> I'm not joking. >> So, are you going to want me to put the cuffs in the front? >> Yes. >> Okay, then I'm going to have to reach around you. Pick up your arms. There you go. Face me, please. >> You cannot put that tight. >> It's not tight. What? >> She's sick. Yeah, she's under arrest. But, she's saying that she's having an anxiety and asthma heart problem. >> Take a step towards me. Can you help me with the cuffs, real fast? >> What's going on, man? >> I'm having trouble breathing. >> Yeah? Okay. Um We'll take your vitals, and then most likely, if anything is going on >> You got to take them off. >> Please. The medics will take you to the hospital, okay? >> I need an ambulance here, now. And I need that metal off of me, please. >> Yeah, can we get your arm so we can take her vitals? >> And then jump three just for me. Are you going to need a transport? Do you guys have any water? >> Unless she's Unless you hook her up and there's ice and crazy [ __ ] >> Put your hand here, please. >> The cuffs need to be off for that. >> No, I put them to the front for you, ma'am. >> No, the metal interferes with that. >> It's not tight. >> me out, man? >> Can you put them >> like to be checked out first. >> My question is, what medical problems do you have? Anything you take medications for? >> You guys have my medical history. >> Well, we actually don't. I'm I apologize for that. >> You got that? >> You just tucked it back. >> I'll place her up here when we get to the car. >> It's supposed to be a clip. We use these like once every 2 years, so I just forget how you use them. So, there's supposed to be a clip at the end. >> Like like a carabiner or something? >> Yeah. But, this should be fine, dude. >> Just relax that left arm, okay? >> Can you keep doing that? >> Just relax. >> Does she need to be transported by you guys? >> Yeah, cuz her oxygen's low. >> Okay. >> We can't We can't feel comfortable releasing her like that. >> Right. >> I'm trying my hardest to get it up >> Yeah. >> without oxygen, but it's We're going to put her on oxygen soon as we can, cuz it's below 90%, which should be high. At least like We're okay with like 92? >> Yeah, I guess. It's at 88, right? Okay. You guys would you be able to work with her with the cuffs like that? >> Yeah. Yeah, okay. >> That works. >> We're the ones transporting you, and we're going to hand you over to the hospital.
