During my 29 years as a police officer in Florida, I've seen a lot of traffic stops and they usually just end with a ticket. This one ends with a jack handle to the officer's head. >> Feel good? >> Reason I stopped you is you got expired plates on this car. >> is a temporary tag for this car. I just picked it up. I'm doing work for him. >> I understand. All right, sir. Driver's license, please, proof of insurance. >> me. I I Listen, I ain't going to lie to you. I don't have one. I'm working to get it back. I'm a single father. I'm doing what I can. >> I'm telling you honesty goes a long way. He's like, I don't have it on me. Uh let me be honest with you. I don't even have one. And I'm trying to get it back. Like that's I can work with that. >> Any ID whatsoever? >> Just credit cards with my name on them. And and I got an unpaid just going to show for a warrant, man. >> Do you have some ID on you, ma'am? >> Yes, she does. >> Can I see some ID, please? >> I don't have it. I don't have a card. >> So, neither of you are carrying any ID on you? >> I got my state cards with my name on them. I ain't going to lie to you. >> Well, I got a credit card with somebody's name on them, too. >> Right, right. I got social security cards here. >> So, let me let me see what you got there as far as ID. >> I got my gas fuel cards, social security card, my director's credit card. I mean, like I said, if if you run me, it's going to come back with a warrant, man. >> David >> Yes, sir. I mean, I'm not going to lie to you. She whacked me in the temple with that thing. >> Yeah. >> She hit him in the temple. That's pretty serious. Uh, let's review for a second. She's sitting there, she's kind of antsy, looking straight ahead. And she says, "As sharp as a tack, I've had a stroke." When he asked her name, that's not the sign of a stroke, first of all. But second of all, she was very antsy to get him out of there. She was saying, "Well, you you going to go run him?" Meaning, like, the minute you leave here, I'm going to run. >> Stand up. You got it? We're not going to play games. Let's go. She has a >> [laughter] >> what another channel calls a tactical ponytail, tactical bun. This is on the opposite. This is on the suspect. So, we'll call it a convenient handle. She just picked up a felony. Assault on a police officer. Get in the car. Sit in the car. Were you in this car, ma'am? Are you okay? Did she do anything to you? Okay. I don't go anywhere till I can get ID, okay? Okay, so she did not have an associate in the parking lot. For sure, it's confirmed now. I would definitely consider charging her with burglary for opening that door cuz who knows what she was going to do, especially with that axe handle or that jack handle. You all right? >> That lady in that Mercedes we're going to get a statement from her? >> Yeah, she said that this girl tried to jump in her passenger seat. I was straight forward. She just jumped out of the car and took off with a jack handle in her in her hand and spun around, swung at me, and clipped me in the side of the head. >> Woah. >> All right, we got to get him out of the car. He's got warrants as well. Then we'll go from there. All right, now I'm sure you're aware of your warrants, right? >> Yeah. >> All right, step on out. Set it set everything up here. Okay. I was >> You got numerous warrants. >> What do you mean by numerous though? >> [laughter] [gasps] >> There's only two that I know of. I've seen. >> What happened? >> I stopped the car. They were at Home Depot. Saw this guy walk out with a a pressure washer in the back of the car. Expired plates, warrants on on owner, stopped it. Right away, they both, you know, >> Yeah. >> She was both real shy about giving me info. He gave me his. So, as I'm running it, Greg's watching them. At the last second just as I'm calling it in, she hops out of the car, takes off, he goes to grab her carrying the jack handle. >> [snorts] >> Turns around, whacks him in the head with the jack. >> Huh? >> She's in my car? >> She's in my car. He's in your car. >> Oh, I'm getting >> So, how do you want to proceed with this? >> I don't know. We can probably spell only, so I don't know if it really matters that much, but I think she definitely turned around and whacked him in the head with that, so. I I got a I didn't even get to run through everything cuz she took off and started this whole thing, so. And obviously I want to find out what's going on with the pressure washer. He has no receipt, but I called Home Depot. That's who I was on the phone with as I was trying to talk to you cuz they wouldn't answer. And they said they didn't see anything, so we'll go from there. So, where's your receipt for that power washer? >> It should be on the front seat. >> On the front seat? Yep. >> All right. >> All right, here's what we got. Stop the car. >> Who did? >> I did. Expired plates, war shows warrants. They were They were Home Depot. I think he stole that pressure washer. This is a Um as we're ID'ing them, she hops out of the car, takes off, tries to get in that Mercedes over there. Driver. Passenger. She She takes off, tries to get in that car. She's carrying a jack handle. As Greg goes to grab her, she turns around and whacks Greg in the head with the jack handle. >> Where's Greg? >> He's over here somewhere. Is he okay? He's fine. She just grazed him, but she I mean, she had a weapon in her hand and swung at him. Um we had a fight with her outside of the car. She's a little She's got a little bit of road rash. >> Hey, I got a quick I got a quick question. Come here. >> They can Yeah, they can deal with that. So, our our question is since the assault took place in Fairview, you want Fairview to handle the the felony assault. >> Yep. >> He's fine, but he did get whacked in the head, so. >> What about her? She >> She's got some road rash from rolling around. She she fighting with us. >> All right, this is one of those rare instances where you're on the border between two jurisdictions. You stop a car and the person runs into another jurisdiction, you can chase after them because it's a fresh pursuit, but they commit a new crime in that new jurisdiction, you know, they're kind of wondering, "Hey, who who handles this?" I mean, you know, under the fresh pursuit, this officer could have handled both. But, you know, he's the lieutenant suggests, "Well, you know, we're in their jurisdiction, so let them handle that part." >> This is where it all started. >> stopped it, Greg, was right with you. >> And then as we're IDing them, she hops out of the car and takes off. And then tries to hop into that lady's car. >> Like somebody was in the car? >> Yes, yeah. >> Like to steal it? >> I don't know what she was trying to do. >> In the driver's seat? >> She tried to get in the passenger seat and the lady was in the driver's seat. So, she tried jumping in that car, so. >> That's crazy. That's what I'm saying, right? >> All right, and just run Okay, let's pause it on that so you can see that. Just running through this in my head, I I see an assault which, because she made contact, would be battery on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon. That's So, it it it would be an aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated by the fact that it's a law enforcement officer that as the victim and because it's a deadly weapon that she's holding. >> Get your feet underneath you. Hey, is she going to go to the hospital? Hey. And he's just like, everyone just chill out for a second. Like, let me think. Let me try to get this straight. >> All I know >> I have also been the lieutenant who just stands there, >> [laughter] >> just like this guy. He's doing his job standing next to the sergeant, uh making sure the sergeant's doing what the sergeant should do. >> She ran up to the door holding that pipe and tried climbing in the car. And then at that point Greg grabbed her. And after he told her come back here, come back here, she turned around and swung at him, hit him in the abdomen. And at that time the fight was on. So, go over to Home Depot >> Yeah. >> and see if they can find anything regarding this guy buying this power washer. >> Okay. >> We're going to tow this back. We'll hold on to it. He doesn't have a receipt. I can't find it anywhere in there. I called them, but trying to talk to them on the phone is clueless cuz they're just Where'd the receipt go between Home Depot and here? I looked. I couldn't find it. Well, we're going to we'll be able to find you at the register on their videotape. >> Well, why would we need to check her belongings? Like, I mean, you can ask a few you can delve into this a little bit deeper. See, Ho- Home Depot is a very popular place. Home Depot and Lowe's are very popular places for theft just like this. >> I'll meet you at the station around Union. >> Yeah, that's fine. I We we can go from there. As soon as the cop car gets here, >> Holly was charged with attempted assault on a peace officer, assault on a peace officer, obstructing, resisting, and possession of drug abuse instruments. She pleaded guilty to attempted assault and resisting in either no contest or had the charges nulled on the rest. Her bond totaled $400,000. She was sentenced to 3 to 4 and 1/2 years in prison. David, on the other hand, was charged with drug possession with a docket notation suggesting the case was diverted for treatment and there are there's no words what the warrants were for.
