I'm one of the supervisors of EPS and I'm about to lose my career for this. >> I'm not an officer. I'm a lieutenant. >> So, I'm going to ask you this question. Were you ever a cop? >> Yes. I used to be actually a lieutenant. I used to be lieutenant. >> Hi friends. Meet 27year-old UPS logistics supervisor Dvonte Thomas. I'm going to play the 911 call that he made in South Florida that ultimately landed him in the back of this patrol car. The call is only 2 minutes. We can jump straight to the arrest, but the 911 recording really adds to the whole stupid criminal, what were you thinking category? >> 911 operator 45, what's the address of your emergency? >> Hello. >> Um, it's non emergency. Um, I actually uh had a car um swerving out of lanes and like um almost caused an accident even with me. Uh he was driving very reckless. Right now he's here um at the bank. >> Okay. >> Um it's Yeah, right now he's here at the bank. Um I was able to make him stop with my old badge. >> Okay. Okay. I used to be in law enforcement. >> Yeah. I need I need an officer out here. >> No problem. What's the address of the bank? >> 7999. Um this is a university in uh Pinbrook. >> Okay. >> Pin Brook Boulevard. >> What's your name? >> Devonte. >> Okay. What type of vehicle is it? It's a Alexis RX 350 license plate JN NVQ one three and it's uh gray Lexus. >> Okay. Okay. I have the call for dispatch. >> Okay. Um um so yeah, like I said, he was swerving in lanes and um driving very reckless. See, I almost hit at least two cars. >> Okay. >> And I'm I'm including me in the two cars cuz I was one of the cars. And then when I showed him my badge, I told him to pull over. He's like, "Oh, I'm in a hurry. I I'm moving furniture and everything." But Jesus Christ, we don't need people on the road like this. Um >> Yeah. >> I'm not even on duty. So, so you know, even if I didn't have my old badge, I wouldn't able to be, you know, I wouldn't able to stop him. So, I mean, I need this situation taken care of immediately. >> No problem, sir. I have units in now. >> Um, all right. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> All right. >> Spoiler alert. He's not a cop. I checked with UPS and Thomas resigned about a week after his arrest. His felony was reduced to a misdemeanor to which he pled no contest. and Devonte walked away with 18 months of probation. The court also gave him an added bonus of withholding his adjudication. Please don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe. Doing all those are free ways that you can help the channel grow. Your engagement will tell the YouTube algorithm to push the video out to more people. So, your thumbs up really does help out a lot. And as always, thanks for watching. >> Hello. >> Hey. >> Is everything okay? >> Yeah. >> What's going on? >> I just I was in a hurry to get to a store to pick up some stuff. I got to go pick up the kid. They're running. So I I speed up a little bit and the officer was behind me and he saw me and pulled over and >> let me see what the officer wants to do and then back off. >> How's it going, Chief? >> Kevin, nice to meet you. >> Nice to meet you, too. >> You're an officer? >> Um, >> I used to be. Yes, I used to be an officer. That's how I was able to stop him. You used to be an officer? >> Yes, I used to be actually a lieutenant. I used to be lieutenant. >> That's how I was able to stop him because he was driving like a maniac down here and he almost hit me like I was telling >> how you pronounce your name. >> Cruz. >> Cruz. All right. So, like I was telling him, he was down here like he almost hit me. This is my car right there. He almost hit me in the back. >> Okay. >> Um me and another car. So >> he said his reason was because he had furniture to move at a certain time, but dude, you don't drive like a maniac. >> I hear you. >> Yeah. >> You have your uh your ID? >> I have my >> reserve reserved ID. >> No, I don't. I have that I don't have that ID. I only have my badge. That's it. >> So you don't have any active? >> No, I have a ID. >> No, no, no. I'm talking about active like uh any kind of ID from your department where you work and stuff. >> I don't I don't even have that with me right now. I only have my badge. That's it. >> Let me see your batch. See, >> how long did you work there for? >> I worked there for at least I want to say 5 years and then I switched over to UPS. >> Okay. >> So, yeah. >> So, you're not an active at all? >> No. No, I'm not. This is my old batch like I told you. >> No reserve, no nothing. You don't have anything? I have I have that information. I do. Yes, I do. >> Public? >> Yeah, I have that information. I do, but I just don't have it on me right now. >> Okay, give me a second. >> Okay, no problem. >> We need to verify that you're even an officer. So, do you have any kind of proof that you're an officer? >> I have that proof, but I have that proof in like storage. That's it. I just keep my own mask. That's the thing. >> You have a picture of when you were a cop or something like that. >> No. >> No. >> No. Why? What's going on? >> Because right now it's like if you're impersonating an officer. >> Okay. Okay. I get >> So, you're randomly stopping someone. >> No, that wasn't a random stop. >> Well, you're stopping someone. >> Okay. >> Okay. Which is unlawful if you're not a cop. >> Yeah, it is right. You're right. It is unlawful. Absolutely. >> Okay. So, I'm going to ask you this question. Were you ever a cop? That's okay. >> That's my dad's old badge. >> Okay. So, you were never a cop? I never >> Do me a favor. Put your hands behind your back, sir. >> Do you have any weapons on you, man? >> No, I do not. I don't have any weapons, sir. Hold. You're under arrest for impersonating a police officer. >> So, please don't >> put your hands together, man. Try to put your hands together. >> So, please All right. Please don't do that. Just take Just take the bar. >> Nope. >> We're way past that now. >> Okay. We're going to go to my car. >> Sir, I Hold on. Pause. >> No. No. You're getting arrested for pressing on the police office. Sir, I never been arrested before in my life. >> Well, you can't impersonate a police officer. That's for sure. >> All right. But I Okay. >> You unlawfully detained someone and claimed you were a police officer. He was under the impression that you were a police officer. >> I didn't tell him that. >> You showed him a badge and you told him you were a police officer? >> I showed him the badge when I was telling him to stop. Okay. So, that's impersonating a police officer. Okay. >> Okay. >> What's going to happen? >> So, you're getting arrested. >> Can't. >> You didn't if even if you didn't tell him you were a police officer, you implied it by showing him the badge. That's why he pulled over cuz he was under the assumption that you were a police officer. >> I got you. >> So, that still constitutes >> That's my dad's old badge, though. >> Right. But you're using it. >> And he you gave him the impression that you were a police officer. >> I I I know I did wrong, but I didn't mean it in those terms because he almost hit me. So that's the only reason why I was going to be able to get >> I wasn't trying to impersonate that I was a police officer. >> All right. All right, sir. You're not in any trouble. Um I got to talk to you. There's a whole situation. I'm g have to get a statement from you. I'll explain it. Do you mind getting out of the car or like I said, you're not in trouble. So, here's what happened. Yes, sir. >> I guess you were driving recklessly or whatever. >> Can you explain to me again what was the interaction between you and him? >> He He started flashing me. >> Flashing you with his lights. >> With his lights. And then I pulled over to the right and I said, "Okay, go ahead." I was in I was trying to, you know, I was going maybe about 10 15 miles over the speed limit >> and and then I I let him go cuz I saw his flashing me. So I pulled over to cuz there were three lanes. I pulled over to the lane and I said, "Go ahead." You know, I waved him to go by and he takes out his badge and he says, "Pull over. Pull over and I said, "All right, no problem." So I pulled over and I tried to, you know, he came up to my car and he said, "I'm not an officer. I'm a lieutenant." Okay. I said, "You're a lieutenant." I said, "I'm sorry. I' I've done lots. >> I'm going to cut you off real quick. I'm going to have you do a statement if you don't mind. So, it turns out we checked with the place that he was saying he was a police officer. He wasn't a police officer. >> Okay. >> So, that's impersonating a police officer. >> Um >> I'm sorry. I mean, I don't want anybody to get in trouble. He's just, >> you know, I I >> No, I mean, he got himself in trouble. >> Yeah. He as soon as he pulled me up and he said, "Oh my god, you're in so much trouble. You're going to go to jail and this and I'm like, >> you have your you have your ID on you?" >> Yes, I do. I I gave him my ID and my registration and everything. So, >> okay. >> All right. >> Okay. >> This guy is in the police office detained you. Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> Are you willing to give us a statement of everything that happened? >> Well, I don't want to get in trouble. >> You're not in any trouble. >> I know. I But I don't want him to come follow me after that or something. You know, >> nothing to do with you. >> It's someone like that that isn't certified, has never been certified. It could be harmful to him or something. Honestly, I I was scared out of my eye. >> Yeah, you're not in any trouble when I I know I was speeding, but he made me feel like I I you know, like I close my >> He showed you a badge or anything. He showed me a badge and he said he's not only an officer, he's a lieutenant. He said, "Don't move. I got the officers coming." I said, "No problem. I'll wait here." >> Whatever he said, I I did. I didn't know, you know. Can you provide a statement to the gentleman? >> It'll take nothing more than couple of minutes. No problem. >> I'm going grab the phone. Give me one second. All right. >> He told the gentleman you were a police officer. >> Okay. He was under the impression he was a you were a police officer. That's why he stayed. >> Okay. When I pulled up, you told me that you were a police officer. You're a retired police officer out of Louisiana. Come to determine you've never been a police officer. >> Okay. That's impersonating a police officer. >> You understand that? >> I understand that. Well, >> you should know that you shouldn't pretend to be something you're not. >> Okay. >> It's Devonte Thompson, right? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Still got to read you your warning just, you know, your Miranda warnings just because, you know, it's a low. Okay. Okay. So, you said that your dad was a cop for Louisiana and that's how you obtained the badge. >> Yeah, but he left he left it in the car. >> Huh? >> He left it in the car. >> He left it in the car. >> What car? >> I was supposed to put it in the post. >> That's your dad's vehicle? >> No, that's not my dad's. >> That's yours? >> Yes. No, it's a loner. >> It's a loner? >> Yes. I was supposed to put it back in the drawer. >> Okay. >> Who is supposed to have that vehicle right now? You or your dad? No, me. >> Okay. So, they loaned you the vehicle? >> Yes. Volkswagen. Volkswagen the road. >> Okay. All right. And that but that badge belongs to your dad. How long was was your dad a cop for, if you don't mind me asking? >> Um, to be honest with you, >> I don't know for how long, but I know he was >> he was a cop. He was a lieutenant. >> Yes, he was a lieutenant. >> All right. >> He'll be upset. >> So, I'm sure he will be. We're going to talk to him and see what we can do. Okay. However, >> what happened on the road that caused you to pull the guy over? >> All right. So, first first of all, he was driving like a maniac. He almost hit me in the back and then he stick his middle finger and you know, he just like literally just kept going cuz I stopped on the brakes >> and I'm like, you know, I was I thought he was going to hit me but I was trying to get out of his way. So he was >> he stomped on his brakes or you stomped on your brakes. Okay, >> cuz he was behind you. >> Yes, he was. >> Okay, got you. We were coming down um we were coming down. What's this morning? >> Yeah, we were coming down. We were coming down Pine Boulevard and he was driving like a man. So I mean honestly it was teaching him a lesson. >> You were just trying to teach him a lesson. You weren't trying to >> I wasn't trying to do nothing. No, no more. >> That's the reason why I call you. >> Oh, I got you. Okay. >> When you approached the vehicle, what did you do? >> I just told him to hold on. Like the police on the way there was >> Why did you just get up and leave though? >> I told him to hold on. The police is coming. >> Did you any time presenting your badge to him? The only time I prevented the badge is when we were on the road and say, "Scott, pull over." I didn't show him the badge at all and that was it. >> But you did present it and that's why he pulled over when he saw the badge. >> Yeah, I didn't really tell him I was a cop. I just showed him the badge and he pulled over. >> So you did something like that. >> You never told him you were an officer? >> No. He seen it. That's what makes me believe that I was an officer. >> So he saw the badge and that's what made him believe you're an officer. You had no time told him that you were a lieutenant. I mean, it says on the back. >> I mean, from a distance, you can't really read that says, >> but you see that this is, but I didn't tell him. >> If he claims that he told me that he was a lieutenant, it been in translation. >> No. >> And anytime you tell him I'm not only an officer, I am a lieutenant. >> I did not tell. >> No. >> So, what do you do? Something like this. Pull over. Yes. >> So, you went you stuck it on the window or you put it on your window or you or you put your hand outside the window. How do you ability? >> He was on this side of me. I just showed it and I said, "Pull over." >> So you went like this and told him, "Pull over." >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Okay. All right. Give us a second. >> I see a handcuff. >> Question. You have a fire. One in the car. >> Well, he was out of the car when I got Let me ask. I'm serious. >> Hey, do you have a gun with you? >> I do not, sir. >> Do you have a gun in the car? >> I do not, sir. >> Do you have any type of weapons in the car? They check it. I do not. >> You You gave You give us permission to check the car? >> Yes. >> Father, whoever owns the head. >> Give me a favor and step out of the car. I'm not doing anything stupid. >> Okay. Come on. >> Have a lot. I'm definitely not going to That's probably the first thing I ever did sleeping. >> You work for UPS? >> I do. >> All right. >> I'm one of the supervisors of UPS and I'm about to lose my career for this. All right, there he goes. >> What is your dad's name? >> Troy. >> You have it here under Troy. >> I have it on the bro. >> Bro, >> don't tell him that, please. >> I have it on the bro. Troy right here, >> bro. Troy. >> Copy it. How's he? >> What's his name? >> Troy. >> Troya. >> Troy Thompson. >> Bailey. >> Troy Bailey. Bailey. >> Use the >> Troy Bailey. He's he's he's my stepfather Bailey. He's he's my step he's my stepfather. I call him a father. >> That's him. That That's >> No lie between you and I. Okay. Cuz it's only going to make the situation worse. >> And I don't want to make the situation worse. That's his number. >> This is your stepfather. No longer. He's your father. This is my stepfather. >> It's my father, but he's my stepfather. >> And for sure he was a cop. >> Yes. For sure he was a cop. >> For that department? >> Yes. For that department? Yes. a call. >> For sure he was a call. >> I'm going to be straight forward. You don't have >> I'm not >> stole that bad from anybody. >> I didn't steal I didn't steal the badge from anybody. No, that's his back. >> That's his back. Okay. >> What is he doing in your car, though? >> Doesn't make any sense that that car. >> Did you take it from him? >> Without her knowing, >> honesty is going to work out better for you right now. >> Yes. >> Think about, you know, >> Penny at 12:15. You took it from him without him knowing. >> See, he don't he don't know that I have. >> For what purpose you took the bathroom? You guys left together or what's the deal? >> We live together. >> Where? In Myar? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, who else lives in the house? >> It's just me and Troy. >> You and Troy. Nobody else lives in >> Nobody else lives in the house. >> Where's mom? >> Mom, she's probably at work right now. >> Does she live at that house? >> No, she doesn't live at that house. >> Okay. What how's your relationship between you and Troy? >> It's a stepfather. He's like a stepfather. >> What is your relationship? Do you guys argue? You guys get along? Cuz you clearly live with him. So, he has some type of appreciation for you. >> Look, I've been doing this for quite some time now. And my BS meter, the minute I make contact with you, >> was going off the radar. Okay. That's why I knew you weren't a cop. That's why I approached the situation the way I did. Okay. My BS meter is going off the roof right now. Clean slate right now. Just tell me the truth. >> Who's Whose badge is that? And how did you acquire? >> It's Troy Bailey. He's like a stepfather to me. >> He's like a stepfather. >> Was he ever with your mother? >> No. >> Okay. So, he's just like a father figure. >> He's just like a father figure. >> Okay. All right. How long have you known this gentleman for? >> At least since 2019. >> 2019. >> Yes. >> Okay. Uh, and he used to work for that department. >> Yes, sir. >> And you took it without his knowledge? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. When did you take it? >> I took it yesterday. >> Yesterday? >> Yes. >> Okay. Have you ever done anything like this before? >> No. >> Okay. >> Why were you take that batch from him? >> Okay. Why? >> Not even that. >> What? Who is it? >> I said I honestly Where you from? >> I don't even know. >> So, you just saw it like where was the box? On a drawer, on a table. Where was it? >> It was in the dresser. >> And you went inside his dresser and took it >> and and I seen it and I I just took it. >> For what? For what purpose? >> It's dumb now that I think about it, but I wasn't by the time I just I I don't know. >> Do you suffer from any medical condition? >> I don't. Have you ever been uh have you ever been bankactive before? >> No. >> Do you take medication for anything? >> Do not take medication. >> Okay. >> This is just a dumb thing of me. And >> just >> How long have you guys lived together? >> We lived together since 2019. >> And you known him since 2019. >> How did you guys meet? >> From basketball. >> Basketball? >> Yeah. >> What struck you? You see your father? You see your significant other? figure. >> Okay. >> He's a father figure. >> Phone number you gave me is his. Sure. >> Sure. >> Let me get it one more time. Where's the phone? >> Wait. Hang on. Cuz he locked. Turn around. >> Which finger? This one. >> Yes. >> Hang on. Oh, it's not my finger. Got it. So, do you swear or affirm that the evidence you're about to give will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? Yes, sir. >> Okay, you can put your hand down. >> I saw a car following me. So, uh, he started flashing and flashing flashing me with the lights behind you. >> Yeah, he was directly behind me. >> Okay. and and then I pulled over to the to the right lane and I waved for him to go by. He pulled up next to me, pulled over his window and he showed me a badge stating that he's an officer. So, I pulled over >> and um I pulled over and uh he took my license and my registration. I said, "I'm not only a police officer, but I'm a lieutenant." >> So, I'm going to cut you off for a second. Just uh when he pulled you over, >> um what did he tell you? Where were where was it if you know kind of like the area? It was a half block east of uh TD Bank. >> Okay. So, it's a little further from here. So, like 10 block uh east of >> So then he lowered his window. You lowered yours. And then what was his exact words? He said, "Pull over. Uh I'm a I'm a police officer. Pull over." And I said, "What do you want me to pull over?" He goes, "Pull over to this bank." And then I pulled over and then he came to my window. He said, "You're in a lot of trouble. I'm not only a police officer. I'm a lieutenant." Okay. And you have breaking the law. And I said, "I'm sorry." He goes, "No, you're not sorry." >> And while he was doing that, he was showing you his >> show the badge. Yes. I didn't look at the badge closely because I didn't trust, you know, that he was. >> You remember what color the badge was? >> It was uh gold. >> Gold. Okay. It was gold. And uh he said, "I have I have the police officers come. Don't move." And I said, "No problem. I'm I'm going to sit right here." And uh and that's >> And then did he ask you for any paperwork or anything? >> He did. He asked me for uh the registration and my license. >> And you gave those to him? >> I gave it to him. What did he do with them? I I saw him on the intercom or on the phone calling and looking at my plates and and just calling u I tried to get out and just explain you know what happened and and why I was in a hurry and he said no get back in your car and I said no problem. So >> that was that was the only conversation. >> Okay. And uh the registration did he give it back to you? >> Yes. >> Okay. So you have all the information back. Okay. Um is there anything else that you would like to add about your your uh interaction with him that wasn't already said? No, I just I was really scared. The way you made my field was like very intimidating, right? You know, I had like hook a million laws. I I told him I said, "I am sorry. I know I sp I was in a hurry." You know, I I'm going to get a ticket for that if I need to. But that was that was it. I mean, that was it was And then I saw him chasing me. I pulled over. I said, "Here, you're faster than me. I mean, you want to go faster than me. Go ahead." Right. >> But he his intention was just to catch up and >> Okay. So, you were 100% under the impression that he was a police officer, correct? >> Yes. Okay. >> All right. >> Um, this is there anything else you want to add? No. >> All right. This concludes the statement. >> You're warning his dresser without his consent and you took his bag. >> Yes. >> For what? >> I told you I made a stupid one mistake. >> This means a lot. >> You don't play with this [ __ ] >> I got you. >> This is serious. 48. >> This takes people's freedoms away. You You don't have the right to do that. I don't have the right to do that. She doesn't have the right to do that. >> There's a law that we all follow to be able to do that. >> It was a stupid mistake. And I'm telling you, >> you took it cuz you got in trouble with somebody at UPS or something. You wanted to scare them. >> So, there's a reason behind it. >> You see, now you're lying to me again. No, I just know. Look, with the honest truth, I just know that I >> lost my career and I'm telling you to cheat now. So, >> who you besides this gentleman that's here? Who else you show this the bash to? >> Just that gentleman. That's >> You didn't want to work and show it to anybody? >> No, I did not. >> Did you have any intention to do that? >> No, not as of now. No. >> No. No. No. Not as of now. When you took it? >> What was your plan when you took it? To use it at work? I can't >> be honest. >> We're already here. >> Whenever whenever there's a situation on the road, I'm always getting involved towards the situation. So, it's like it's it's a lot. I mean, today was the first day and the last day. Um, I took it with really no intentions. Um, when that happened, you know, you're lying. You're saying your story and hosting hosting. I'm >> I'm not I'm not lying. I'm being I'm >> You have his phone? >> Yeah, >> I'm getting it. What's your address, man? What's your current address? >> I have it. >> You got it right there. >> Are you okay, man? You did anything? just >> look, I'mma be 100% honest with you. We work hard for these badges, >> okay? So, when someone is impersonating what we do >> and how we risk our lives day in and day out, it it's, you know, it hits home a little bit. You get me? So, you have to understand how dangerous this can be for you. >> You're pulling somebody over. You don't have a gun. You understand that? You're presenting your back during the assumption. But what if somebody doesn't like pups? >> You get shot. You know, >> you haven't gone through the training. You haven't gone through the experiences and stuff like that to know the risk that it entails. You understand that? You know, luckily this guy was cooperative and stuff like that. But had he not been, you guys get into a tussle in the middle of, you know, a TV part, right? Had you had a gun concealed or whatever, now you shoot this guy. It was an unlawful unlawful detainment. You understand that? It can definitely be severe. Okay, you have to understand that. A lot of people that commit these crime, they don't understand the severity of that crime. >> Okay. >> All right. Just hang tight. Okay. >> Huh? >> I gave you authorization to search. I get it. But still, this is a thirdderee felony. I don't know if you don't understand. >> Third degree. >> It's a thirdderee felony. >> Okay. >> Okay. It's a very very >> serious crime. >> Please. Okay. >> Sir. Sir, please. Please. >> There's no discretion with felonies. I'm sorry. There's no discretion. >> So, Well, >> yeah, there's zero discretion. I can't do anything about it. >> Like that. It's a felony. I can't tell you. >> Sergeant's the one that's uh requesting the whole search in Louis. >> Can you come up with >> There's nothing at all that you can say. The sergeant's just as adamant about it. >> He was literally there the whole time. >> Explain to me. You explain to me the the circumstances. Is it possible I can get a warning? This is the first time >> there's no warrant. This is what I'm trying to explain to you. >> When it comes to a felony, there is no discretion. >> Huh? >> I didn't know >> it is though. I know that it's a felony. So, I can't have any discretion. If it was a misdemeanor, maybe that's a different story, >> but it's not. It's a thirdderee felony. >> I didn't know that. It it has this >> there's nothing you can do or say >> that changes the the outcome. You understand that? >> Nothing you can say or do. It's going to be you are going to get arrested for impersonating a police officer. There's nothing else >> there. You requested the uh uh registration and his ID. Correct. You asked him him for it. >> Huh? >> You never asked him for it? >> You never asked him for his registration and none of that. >> I didn't have that information. >> I can't hear you. >> I didn't have that information. >> You didn't get that information or anything? >> No, I didn't get that. I just waited for you. >> Huh? >> I didn't get that information. I waited for you all. >> Okay. He says that he didn't get that information. He waited for us. You sure you didn't give it back to the guy afterwards? You asked for it and then gave it back to him. >> Sir, I don't have that information. >> No, I'm not saying that you don't have it right now. >> What I'm saying is that did you request it, read it off to us when you were on the phone and then gave it back to him? >> No. >> No. >> No, I didn't ask. >> Yeah, he's denying that. >> It's all on camera, by the way, just so you know. >> Yes, sir. >> We're requesting a camera footage of the interaction. Okay. Okay. So, if you tell us the truth, that's fine. If you're telling us the truth, then there's no, you know, nothing about it. But it's easier if you tell us, you know, don't have us go around and do all this work for no reason when it's we're going to have to do it anyways. You understand that? Did you at any time request the vehicle's documents and his information? At any time? >> Just the license. >> Just the license. >> I just wanted to see the license. >> Not the registration. No, just a license. >> No, he just requested the license. >> But I gave that back to you. >> Yeah, he says you gave it back. I'm not We're not saying that you kept it. >> Yeah, that's >> Well, he says that he you gave it back to him. >> Well, yeah, of course I gave it back to >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But we just want to know if you even did it. You know, you requested that information. >> I I requested his license. Yes. >> Just his license. Not the registration or anything like that. >> Just a license. >> Huh? >> Just a license certificate. Okay. >> He showed me his registration. >> He showed you his registration? >> Yes, I am. >> But you never took it. >> Be honest with me, man. Why is it like pulling teeth with you? It just doesn't help your case out with me. Cuz everything you're saying now, I'm believing it to be a lie. >> I'm not lying to you. >> Okay. But every like it's like pulling teeth with you. Either you tell me or you don't. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Did you I'm going to ask you this one time and one time only. At any time did you request and obtained his registration? Was it ever in your hand? >> Yes, sir. >> It was? >> Yes, sir. >> And his license? >> Yes, sir. >> His license and his registration. You grabbed it and then you gave it back to him. >> Yes, sir. >> Yes. >> But I don't have it. >> Huh? >> But I don't I I thought you were selling like as if >> No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I clearly I clearly stated what I said. You know, I told you >> like basically if I took it No, I I No, I didn't. If you grabbed it, looked at it, relayed the information to dispatch, and then gave it back to him. >> I didn't give that information to dispatch. The information I gave to dispatch was his car number. >> Okay. >> The the car, the model of the car and the license plate. I didn't >> So why did you take his information to begin with? >> So he didn't run. >> So he doesn't run. >> I I looked at >> So he took his information so he wouldn't run. >> I I didn't take it from I I didn't take it. I just looked at it and I gave it back to him. Okay. >> Then I gave it back to him. I didn't I didn't take it and put that over the air. Don't >> No, no, no, no. I'm saying not over the air. But you took it so that he wouldn't flee. >> Yeah. I looked at it and I took at I looked at it. I I took it from him. I looked at it and then I gave it back to him. I just looked at it. >> Yeah. Okay. >> I gave it back to him. >> Got it. Okay. >> Will this interfere with my job? You're going to have your day in court, man. If you're proven innocent, then I can't tell you what's the outcome going to be. All I can tell you is what we're charging you right now for, which is impersonating a police officer. Okay. >> That's a felony. >> That's a thirdderee felony. Yes. >> Third degree is how how many >> That's the lowest of the felonies. There's a first degree and then there's third degrees. third degrees are the the the higher the number, the less uh severity. >> When would I receive a day? >> Huh? I said when would I receive the day in court? >> Uh that's going to be way down the line. You're going to be able to bond out and stuff like that without any it shouldn't be any issues. Okay? Cuz you have a pretty clean record and stuff like that. All that takes into account, you know, moving forward. >> How much is bond? I I can't I can't tell you that right now. Wouldn't know. >> And I'm not able to make a phone call right now. >> I I'll let you make a Can I Can you make a phone call >> to who? >> To Troy. >> Huh? >> To Troy. >> To Troy? >> Yes. >> No. Part of Troy. >> No, you cannot. Sorry. because he's part of this. >> What do you mean he's proud of it? >> Cuz this he had, you know, he it's his badge and stuff like that. He's aware of the situation. >> What did he say? >> He's not happy about the situation. He doesn't want to cause you any harm either cuz technically you stole the badge from him. He doesn't want to press charges, you know, for the theft. Obviously. >> Are y'all charging me with that, too? >> No. No. It It didn't happen in our jurisdiction. And he doesn't want to make it a big deal. >> I didn't mean to mess up my life like this. I really didn't. >> You You have your day in court, man. >> If I knew if I knew what this was going to cost, I trust me, I wouldn't have did that. It's just that I was trying to teach a God lesson, but I end up teaching myself a lesson. >> You did everything right all up until the point where you presented the >> badge in the police officer. >> You can't do that. You can call us in. You can do everything you did. >> If I wouldn't have showed the badge, I wouldn't have been in the in the back of the police car. >> If you wouldn't have given that guy any implication that you were a police officer, you would have been okay.
