Tonight, a Georgia man is in jail accused of robbing a Burwick area bank. David Stanley was taken into custody in Bleckley County. Police believe he's the one who robbed a Wells Fargo bank. Police say the suspect did get away with cash. >> On October 27th, 2023, officers respond to a robbery at the Wells Fargo bank in Savannah, Georgia. Employees say a man walked in, claimed he had a gun, and demanded cash from two tellers. But he does have um he does have a picture in his phone of the guy. >> Okay. Did Did she see a car? Did anyone see a card so I could put it out? >> I didn't. Only that guy that came back and said that car and Wanita has his back. Okay. >> I just needed I had to put a second 91 when I'm on scene. He's in a vehicle over there. He said he he took a picture of the guy, but he didn't get a picture of the car. He went up to the lady. said, "Give me your draw." Okay. He said, "I want everything out your damn draw." She he he she hand him everything and then he said, "Oh, that ain't all the money. You got more in there. I know you got more. We draw." She said, "That's all I got, sir. That's my whole draw. Everything else." Next thing you know, he moved down to the uh Caucasian lady and said, "Give me everything out your draw." But she just came and sat down. And after that, she gave him everything and then he went on out the bank and then he went down that way right there. >> Yeah. So I know that place down there, that car wash got some cameras and stuff too 91 to all units at this 23. Suspect went towards the car wash from the bank uh north towards uh OPT. It's going to be a black male about medium dreads, whitish tan, long sleeve shirt, blue pants, black and white sneakers. >> You need my address or anything? >> Um, if you don't mind, just if I get a just a picture of your ID just to put you as a witness, man. So, what I'm looking for um is what kind of vehicle he actually got into. Um we have an idea, but if I can get a solid idea and plate um I actually may be able to ping him off the cameras and figure out who this is. Um it just it very much helps because we actually have cameras that are on these especially on this one right here. We have a camera on there. Um and then there's actually ones on our wick as well. So if I can pinpoint what kind of vehicle it is, I could possibly pinpoint a plate which tells me whole bunch of information. Um, >> so whatever's best for like sitting down individual spaces if you want to do that. He said it is not a Lincoln. It is for sure a crown. >> It should be defined as a road. It's a No, it's a pass. So it's a still shot. So >> he matches the description of a subject my face over my Tahoe one night traffic stop. He looks exactly like that guy. Same build, same hair. So I'm going to drive over there. Now, >> as the FBI prepared to take over the case, local law enforcement fanned out across the shopping center, canvasing nearby businesses for surveillance footage, they checked everywhere a camera might be, the oil change shop, the car wash, the hardware store, even the grocery store next door, anything that might reveal the suspect's escape route. There is absolutely no way that man made it out here on foot because I came from that way and SA came in through this way. So there's no way he made it out on foot going that way. >> They got footage on every angle. It even hits this parking lot right here. And the only vehicle in that time frame that's blue in color is this SUV right here. And it comes directly out of the front of the bank, pulls out and comes out this way. >> This a SUV. >> It's some sort of I can't. It's so crappy. But it's the only car that see comes from right here, comes out, and then goes that way. >> What we need is the bank to pull their footage. >> Yeah, they got the footage. They got >> They got cameras, and I've already told them I need that outdoor footage. So, >> are they working on it or what? >> I'm not the investigator here. Yeah, that's what I was about to say. They got the fits. >> David Stanley was taken into custody in Bleckley County. He's now being held at the Chattam County Detention Center. Stanley is now charged with robbery by intimidation. >> David Wayne Stanley wasn't new to this. In 2009, he robbed seven banks in Texas. In 2016, another one right here in Savannah. And this time, he went right back to robbing banks while still on parole for robbing banks. In June 2024, Stanley pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 160 months in federal prison, plus another year for violating supervised release. What do you think?
