Like I didn't. >> Come on outside for me. >> Come with us, officer. >> I didn't know. >> There you go. I really didn't know. >> There's a pocket knife in there. She hasn't been pat down. So point out the vehicle. Come and take a look. >> You don't see it anymore. I really don't. I don't see it. It's not here. >> So none of these cars Are any of those occupied? >> No. The only one that was that was a truck that was pulled in right over here when it >> I don't know where they went. They just I've had a really bad day. >> Put your hands on top of your head and release them. I want to make you don't have any other weapons. Okay. You just had a All you had was that pocketk knife. What's this in your pocket here? >> It's a tobacco gold. >> Hey, step out of the way out of the out of the so that people can go into the bank. >> Police car. What's your first name? >> What is it? >> Lisa. >> I really don't want to get in trouble. [clears throat] >> You got Thank you. I'm going to make sure you don't have anything else on you, okay? Cuz you got a pocketk knife in your in your thing and I'm just going to make sure you don't have any weapons on you. All right. And then we'll talk to you about what's going on. Okay. I just I highly recommend you be honest. Okay. >> I really don't know who they are. It's just I got kicked out of my friend's house today and when I was leaving they just they offered me to help them. They said they just didn't have a ID. They needed someone to cash the check. I don't even know who they are. I don't know their names. I I really don't. >> All right. Well, like I said, uh you can talk to this officer. You can give them, you know, just be honest because if you're lying, we'll know and we'll, you know, she has tobacco in that pocket. It looks like there's some uh in her wallet and she had a knife in there. Was there a What were the bags in your wallet? Was that >> There shouldn't be no bags. >> Bridge. >> All right. So, this is what's going to happen. Uh, you're not free to leave. So, this officer is going to read your right. We're still going to give you your chance to That doesn't mean you're under arrest right now. We're going to work through this cuz I still don't know what happened. Okay. Marco, would you mind getting a statement from the the bank staff? [screaming] >> You want to talk to me? >> Uh, >> yeah, we'll have to get the number and everything and follow up. Where was she? Where was it stolen from? >> It's stolen from this lady's driveway >> in Lake Mary. >> We'll have to call. >> Who who met with her? >> Huh? >> Who met with him? Did she go one of the towers? >> She went to the towers and then she sat down the lobby and we looked at the check. So she met with Sheila. >> Okay. And what kind of made her spark her >> signature does not match. So on file does not match the signature on. >> So that's what cued her to say this is >> she brought it to >> Okay. Am I allowed to speak really quick? Okay. Which one was it? >> I'll have it come out. Sheila, can you come out for just a sec? >> Can you bring your ID too, please? >> And then so once uh she came to you about it. >> She came to me and Megan about it. I'm the branch manager. So, >> what is your guys protocol from there? Did you reach out to the >> We reach out to the client before we do anything. If the client says she did not write a check to this person, then we call you guys. >> Okay. >> Did you say this like was it just occur like burglary kind of just occurred or >> So, yeah. So, when I called to ask about um and verify it, she said that someone broke into their vehicle last night and things were missing, but she wasn't sure what. Okay. So, I guess there was the checks for the business and then now she just said that her >> Okay. >> So, I don't know what else, but she said it happened last night, so she haven't had a chance to >> Okay. >> It'll just take a second cuz it was pretty minimal involvement. >> Thank you. >> Um, just explain me kind of what occurred. Um, so she came over to cash a non- customer check and the actually the writing didn't look good to me. So I just looked up the and plus it was from Lake Mary. So I looked it up just to see if the signature match and it didn't match. >> And I'm assuming you guys can look up the the person that has the check. You can look up their signature signature. >> Okay. And that will cue you that the signature did not match. >> Well, the person that cued me is cuz the check is from Lake Mary. >> Okay. So that and then I looked it up and it didn't match the signature and then that's when I'm about to check over to them. >> Okay. Did you say anything to her? Did she say anything to you? >> Um well I tried to keep her here since I knew you guys were coming. So I just asked her about Thanksgiving. >> Did she say anything? >> She said that she's from she's going to have Thanksgiving in Mims and that her ride is here waiting for her cuz she kept getting up and looking outside >> and but I didn't see a car cuz she said it was like a four-door car. corridor. They just got it. It's new. It's either black or blue. It's a four-door. And I asked her who was waiting in the car and she said, "It's my family from Ohio." >> Did she provide you with an ID? >> I gave you Yeah. Yeah. I gave it to them. I already gave them. Yeah. >> She gave me an ID and a PayPal credit card. >> Okay. She seemed nervous to you. >> No, she seems pretty relaxed. Like she didn't seem like, you know, like she didn't realize anything was wrong. >> Okay. Um, I don't know. It doesn't seem like she was fine. She was fine. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Um, just hold on that, Seth, and we'll be right back in. Thank you. [snorts] >> He was just random people in. >> I don't usually ride with nobody. Random. It's just >> So, you don't So, so >> I was by the park. You was about to park and they brought you up in the cab. >> And they took my backpack and they took my [laughter] food. I just got done going to Sunrise and I got some food. I had my backpack in there. They said they didn't have an ID. They need me to cash it. So I went to go in here and then I didn't see them anymore after that. >> Okay. So you don't know who the driver was. You don't even know what kind of car it was. You just got a random car just to buy a random car. They said they were going to give me money if I went and did that for them. If I cashed it for them. >> Where do you live at? >> But I I just was staying with my friend and then got into an argument today and they told me that I had to go to the park or just go out for a little while to catch some air and then let them cool down. >> Okay. So, you're homeless. You don't have any money? >> No. So that's why you wanted to help out and try to get some money even though you know you knew better. You're not you're not stupid. We're talking you're smart enough. You knew you shouldn't have done it. But what's done is done, right? >> Um are you going to do it again? >> No, I'm not. I'm stupid. >> All right. >> I don't even know why I got in the car with them. >> Did uh did you steal it or did they steal it? >> No, I didn't steal it. I really did. I >> Were you there? Were you there when they stole it? >> No. >> When did they steal it? >> I don't know. I've never even met them before. Like that's honest. I don't know who they are. >> Couple quick questions for you. That's your ID. Is that the check you were trying to cash? >> Okay. >> And the signature on the back. >> But I I really don't know. I signed it as soon as I came in. >> Okay. So, why did you >> Okay. And who wrote this on there? You. >> Who wrote that this stuff? >> They did. They they wrote that for a holiday bonus for $947 and then you signed the back. >> They just gave it to me and they told me when I go in there. >> All right. So, why are you signing your name on the back to a check that you're not supposed to have? >> You know that's a crime. >> I know you know that. >> I didn't know that. >> Yes, you did. You already said you knew you weren't supposed to be doing this. >> I know, but I'm saying I thought that they were just going to give me money because that's what they told me to do. Brandy with an I. >> You also just told me that you was trying to get money for your kids or you said I wasn't. >> But your kids are not with you. You don't have your kids. Your kids are with your dad, right? >> You see them all the time. >> I do. I love my kids. >> Okay. So, but we asked you about you signed your name on this check. How you didn't know that this this was this check wasn't yours? Well, they just randomly gave you the check. You just signed your name. So I I spoke with the the bank teller. This is her information if you want it. I did not speak with the bank bank manager yet. The basically what happened is she went in and she went and spoke with this lady that is the um the teller and the teller said it cued her that she thought it was odd that the this is out of Lake Mary. >> And then she said the signature doesn't match. So then from there she brought it to her uh branch or branch manager. That's when the manager contacted the owner and was like, "Hey, uh did you write a check for this?" And she's like, "No, our car got burglarized last night in Lake Mary." >> Don't think you're being entirely honest with us. I have a hard time. >> I am. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE. I WAS WALKING THROUGH. >> WELL, let me tell you something. Along with those checks last night, a gun was stolen. >> I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. I KNOW. I TELL YOU WHERE I WAS. LIKE I HAVE A FOR YESTERDAY. I was not >> What do they look like? What do they look like? The people that brought you >> THEY'RE LIKE THE ONE GUY, HE was like not Hispanic, but it kind of like looked Asian. He wasn't like >> I don't I honestly don't remember. It was like a blackish bluish color. They parked right there next to a van. And when I looked out when I was in line, they were gone. The one guy, he had tattoos everywhere on him. I don't know who. >> So why why is what you just told all of us different than what you told them inside? >> I really don't know who they are. >> It was your family from Ohio. I thought >> I said that because she was just talking to me. I didn't know what to do. >> Cuz you were lying to her, too, to try to get the check pass. >> Lying to her, but I wasn't lying. >> I really don't know. I really don't know who they were. >> Well, you knew what you're doing was wrong. That's why you lied in there. That's why when as soon as you saw me, you said, "Am I in trouble?" And you know, you knew exactly what you're doing. Okay. You're looking at a couple felonies today. >> You cannot forge and steal money from people's bank accounts. >> All right. Luckily, you didn't. I didn't even stop you. You tried to because [laughter] it's just so stupid. [screaming] >> I know. >> Why is everything equally wrong? >> Because you can't you can't pass other people's checks. >> People are holiday season. People are want they need their hard earned money. Okay. It's not okay. So, she's saying a group the group dropped off and that was she was saying the guy with cats or whatever >> in inside uh the bank teller said I noticed the signature was off and it was from like Mary. So, I kind of tried to delay her at the the register, whatever you call it, the teller window and she was small talking with her and she's like, "Oh, who'd you come here with?" And she's like, "Oh, my family's down from Ohio and that newer car out there." But I didn't see no blue or black newer car here. I only seen the occupied car only seen was the Nissan Frontier that was parked over here. But my my thought process it was someone at the ATM jumped in. Yeah. And then they left. There was no other car unless they were parked across the street or see us seen us pull in. >> Some more evidence. She lied up there. She said it was her family from Ohio. So she knew she was lying. Right. >> Right. >> And then uh here she's saying she didn't know him at all. So there's your sign. >> Signed the check. She knew it was wrong. But the man bank manager is inside with all the paperwork and she'll be uh ready to talk to you, too. >> Lisa was taken into custody and charged with uttering a forged instrument and attempted bank fraud. Her bond was set at $2,000. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to identify the other individuals involved.
