exactly I remember exactly how this crash happened I my and the car completely [ __ ] flipped be here cuz you're bleeding all right let's go over here real quick let's go by the Light yeah is your it's my father's car I'm going home I live on around 10:05 a.m. on April 8th 2023 officer Johnny Sanchez with the north Beren Police Department responded to a report of an overturn vehicle in the vicinity of 68th Street and nuk Avenue on arrival he noticed that a 2009 Nissan Sentra had overturned and a few other parked Vehicles had also sustained damages he made contact with the driver of the Nissan who was identified as 21-year-old Melanie as officer Sanchez was speaking with Melanie he detected the odor of alcohol and noticed signs of impairment another officer found an open container inside the overturned vehicle I hit the side of this car right here and my car completely flipped I know I have to take my car to the to the workshop we're planning on taking it next week I didn't know it was going to completely flip sir do you know what what caus you to hit it this is a Nissan sensor I hit this car what caused your your car to go that way I I sir I'm going to be so I don't know why it's car my car has been needing some repair from some time any what any lean against the car I don't want you get fall down or something why would I you uh have ID on you or no yes I do I always have my ID on me and my thing is I don't know why my car [ __ ] flipped on me your license yes yeah I know I I saw it yeah I know I saw it they're open yeah they're open do yeah I live blocks parents areally put your phone live Melanie told the officers that she was coming from Hoboken and admitted to consuming alcohol before operating a motor vehicle based on their suspicion of impairment officer Sanchez informed Melanie that she was being invested investigated for DWI asked her to perform field sobriety exercises along with the assistance of officers poit kich Ana officer Sanchez started administering the field sobriety exercises just put just put your phone in your pocket oh my God guys and we're we're going to perform they going to be ask simple instructions let's do what what they say to make this go guys I will literally take a s I don't care I literally have where I came from my car is Debbie do you guys understand Spanish this is literally why I'm saying do you want EMS do you want to be checked out yes my my hip is [ __ ] they have one is is there anything that that that's going to prevent you from from doing a f sobriety test listen to me Melanie Melanie ever experienced in my life my car my car just flipped on me the good thing is that nobody got killed nobody got killed nobody got hurt I know you're shinging hit me it hurts so [ __ ] bad you got to down I have an ambulance here please you have to listen to what this officer telling please take the test any test I will take it I will take it just stand here for me all right and then look at me I'm going to explain and I'm going to tell you to do it okay the first field sobriety exercise was the walk in turn test during the walk and turn test Melanie failed to touch Heel To Toe on each step while using her arms for balance the next field sobriety exercise was the oneel leg stand test when instructed to begin the one leg stand test Melanie initially performed the walking turn test instead she was asked to attempt the test again but she wasn't able to complete the test adequately you're you're going to you're going to put you you understand English right yes okay all right so I'm going to speak English okay okay all right you're going to keep your your your feet the side look at me first so this what you understand what you got to do okay you're going to keep your feet to the side hands to the side okay you're going to look forward all right and then you're going to go to toe all right you're going to go one 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 you're going to turn around okay heels a toe one 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 nine okay do you understand you're going to go nine Paces forward turn around nine Paces back okay do you understand that yes sir okay whenever you can all right you can start it but is there things people make mistakes based on the motor vehicle accident the odor of alcohol the open container and her inability to perform the field sobriety exercises adequately Melanie was placed under arrest for DWI First Responders arrived on scene to evaluate her and they determined that she should go to the hospital officer Sanchez rode with her in the ambulance as she was transported to Hackensack Hospital things happened my my f I know what I did my car hit this car too [ __ ] close too close and I literally just crawled out of this car and I've never seen my life flash before my eyes and I promise you sir I live and I'm literally hurting literally from Hoboken literally from my friend's house I have have her address on my on my mess I need you to do me a favor yes all right you're going to be placed under arrest for DWI okay okay yes sir all right so I I need you to turn around and put your hands your back leave your phone I here um we going to give it to phone johs is they're going to make her go to the hospital that's on them I'm not you know uh make sure she's aware she can R yeah you know but but there again she can't R cut her clothes off I'm I'm oh yeah but Johnny You' got to stay with her with her I mean she's in custody she's get the cups offer yeah yeah if she gets up and [ __ ] runs we're going to have a problem so stay with her immed make sure has hospital right you don't you don't have to be forced to go it's your choice do the extense of your injuries we recommend that you go the car has set very severe damage what we can do on the field is very limited we recommend that x-rays just because you take off you're not taking that off that's protecting you in case you have any neck injuries all throughout your back e 3 7 e North find me Medics for uh tack CTIC over a mirror over a [ __ ] mirror me back you have any medical problem I'm worried about my worried about me I'm worried about my mother iar everybody will know where you're at everybody will know in New Jersey I was literally three bucks away away take this R every single the coner the other close so your pictures is there anything indicating lifethreatening or just you we'll uh send somebody out with a blood kit and uh nor you got all right he's going with you you're going to have to back out I mean you can probably turn around here so I have a camera whatever you medication might with anything take I'm okay okay no no I'm not on any drug cuz I swear all my mother's [ __ ] life you want any medication for no ma'am no like no I am literally I just came from a hang out that was supposed to be a worko [ __ ] it's literally not even this serious so when the car flipped over my heart just started being fast cuz this isn't this this isn't what I'm supposed to be look your heart rate is going really quickly right now so you're going to have to try to relax as much my first my first I don't I don't get it I'm a good person I don't get into [ __ ] alcohol troubles this is this is my first trouble I just came from a work meeting I just came from a work meeting the best the best meaning of my my life I thought it was supposed to change it and because my car has been having problems my right view mirror just flipped I never imagined me in this situation no look right now the main thing that we have to do is take you to a hospital to get your hips validated yeah my hip [ __ ] hurts you need to calm down I know it's the hardest thing you could do right now something so simple like breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth it's going to help your heart rate slow down really need to slow down okay you're doing great that's great yep just like that just like that you're doing great okay that's going to keep everything else in the blood test was administered and Melanie was evaluated by Hospital staff she was eventually released to her mother after she signed the potential liability warning form on her behalf when the blood test results came in from the New Jersey State Police office of forensic Sciences they reported that her ethyl alcohol level was at 0.16 to perc G 100 milliters which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08% officer Sanchez issued Melanie the following summonses operating Under the Influence reckless driving and open container you're doing great you're doing great she's she's probably she's oh [ __ ] she's going to C she's going to see you here okay car was right there it's not my fault that [ __ ] car was there it's like and we practice every time I don't even go out I don't even you're
