This man had a just stolen a police cruiser and what he's about to do next is so reckless, unexpected and difficult to believe it catch everyone off guard. Meanwhile, officers grow visibly agitated as the situation continues spiraling out of control. It all begins on July 25th, 2024 in Butler County when troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol are notified about a stolen motorcycle that had just fled from the Dexter Police Department. With the bike's owner actively tracking its location, officers are quickly led straight to it. But by the time they arrive, the rider is nowhere to be seen. Thankfully, it doesn't take long before the suspect is spotted trying to flee on foot. He's taken into custody and arrested right there at the scene. >> Hey, hey sir. >> [laughter] >> Put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. Just scoot as far forward in the dash as possible. Keep your hands in smaller back. Can I put my keys in place? Yeah, you can put it. Okay, I'm not taking out the cuffs. You just throw them in your pocket. >> [laughter] >> Throw them in your pocket. Throw them in your pocket. So, you don't know the owner? >> No, no idea. >> Okay. >> I told her I didn't steal it, but >> Okay. >> The suspect is identified as Andrew Carl Delcamp, and he seems determined to convince officers that none of this is his fault. But, the more he talks, the less convincing he sounds. >> So, we know the bike was stolen. And that's why you ran. How did it come into your possession? >> Somebody that I know who wrecks bikes called me and said Jerry was still looking for a ride. I said I have court coming up on the 23rd, and I don't have I can barely even talk. I could have a drink of water. >> I don't have any water, man. >> Can Jay get me a drink of water, a little glass of water, or something, please, man? Please, I can't talk. >> I'll talk to you in a second. I just need you to tell me what's going on. >> I'm trying to, but I can't talk. Like you tell me I'm not trying to. >> Okay. Mine is too. Well, you just told me you wanted me to get bit by that dog. >> Cuz I was upset at the time. >> Okay. But, but you're not upset now? >> Uh-uh. >> Okay. >> Cops are having none of his rambling. So, while further proceedings are being handled, Andrew is left alone inside the patrol car, handcuffed. This one decision would soon come back to haunt them. >> Now, can I please smoke a cigarette? I'll talk to you. Please. >> Please, man. >> Sit tight for me, okay? >> Car 11760. >> [clears throat] >> Let 299 confirm back to 20 the extra police department. 10-54. >> Well, I've seen this pretty good dog and you know, but I understand he might bite. >> Well, I mean, you don't really know how dogs can >> So, we found running. >> Yeah. Okay, so then Yeah, I'm sure he was on the run. >> He was throwing it back here and there. >> But, I didn't even see I saw you. >> Well, then you were running on the grass. >> And just like that, the entire situation takes a sudden turn for the worse. Andrew manages to steal the patrol car and flee, something no one saw coming. Within moments, an intense and dramatic chase is underway. >> Did that happen, Lee? >> [music] >> Officers are visibly frustrated and on edge as the chase continues, but Andrew appears to have something else planned. While fleeing in the stolen patrol car, he suddenly decides to make a phone call to his girlfriend. >> Okay, listen, you need I stole a cop car and I'm driving. You're going to meet me somewhere, baby, so I don't get caught. Where are you meeting me? All right. All right. All right. All right. Go up behind All right. All right. Ross Ross's gas station. How long till you're there? Baby, how long till you're there? Where Where are you at? You're in this? Baby, the cops are on my ass. What do I do? Baby! Baby! Baby! Baby! >> Even after stealing a patrol car, Andrew sounds not so sure of himself as the chase unfolds. Desperation starts setting in and he calls his girlfriend again. Meanwhile, tensions are boiling rapidly behind him and officers grow more frustrated with every passing second. >> [music] >> Relax. Relax. Relax, babe. We're good. Oh, [ __ ] [ __ ] Oh, it didn't happen. Ow! Hey, relax, man. Relax. >> 67 North Mountain Road, 13. >> On the other hand, Andrew keeps trying to come up with a plan alongside his girlfriend as the chase continues. But the next thing he says only digs the hole deeper, and it's almost unbelievably reckless. >> Baby, baby, I'm heading to your dad's house. I'm going to hide out there. I know I do. I'll find you. I'll find you. Baby, I'm going to jump Baby, baby, I'm going to jump in the river and swim down, okay? Baby, look for me. Please. Please. I'm heading towards Greenbrier right now, okay? I'm going to I'm going to try to hide somewhere around there, okay? >> After a lengthy chase, Andrew makes a decision that's not only incredibly dangerous and potentially deadly, but it's also about to turn this entire situation upside down. >> [screaming] >> The moment Andrew jumps out of a moving car, the car chase suddenly turns into a foot pursuit with officers still right behind him. Andrew disappears into the woods, and from that moment on, tracking him down becomes far more difficult. >> Location? >> 49 East Spruce. >> Ah! WHERE YOU AT? >> [screaming] >> GOT IT. SCOTT, WHERE YOU AT? >> [screaming] >> I DON'T SEE HIM. SCOTT, WHERE YOU AT? SEE HIM? >> NO. >> SCOTT, WHERE YOU AT? >> WHERE YOU AT? >> BOBBY, SCOTT. >> [screaming] >> BOBBY. >> MINUTES PASS AND ANDREW STILL can't be found. The only clues officers come across so far seem to be making the situation even more complicated. >> Come on, boys. >> He's going to be a big boy. >> Yeah. >> He's up here somewhere. >> Yeah. >> He's shirtless. >> The person is 500 yards >> He's got his shirt off. He stripped his shirt. >> And he's south of 49, correct? >> I I thought he was going to hit somebody. >> I was I was debating on it. >> I was one of them. I thought he was going to run over >> I should have shot him. >> You should have shot him. >> [sighs] >> He's He's got to get out. >> He He He's as winded as I am. >> Yeah. >> Finally, the K9 unit arrives at the scene. By now, officers are already starting to lose hope of finding Andrew, but one last search attempt is made. >> I want Joe K9. Come out with YOUR HANDS UP. I'LL SEND THE DOG AND YOU WILL be bit. >> [snorts] >> I WANT JOE K9. >> YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. COME OUT with your hands up OR I'LL SEND THE DOG. YOU WILL BE BIT. Final warning. >> Plus the subject >> Huh? >> Plus place of sighting right there at that brush. And then the brush covered him. >> I heard him hiding up in the brush up here. >> Really? >> But I didn't want to get in there. >> Yeah, sure. No. >> And then as soon as y'all got close with the dog, he popped up and started running. >> he'd be close with talked about that he'd be in a brush pile somewhere. That's what I was thinking. He's not far. >> No, he's tired, too. >> Come on, buddy. >> I'm almost wondering if he's not right here on this side of the brush. >> I WHIPPED YOUR K9. >> SO HE'S WAS HE HUNKERED DOWN IN THIS? >> Up top. I chased him down the hill and this is where I last saw him, right there at that brush. >> So let's not go any further than that right there. Let's let Trent work this, get a track going. That way we can He's either He's either keeping moving or he's holed up again. Well, I didn't either until he would just kind of reposition. >> This entire case has been one unexpected turn after another from the very beginning. And just like that, what officers notice next seems to come completely out of nowhere. >> Hey, hey, right here. SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. SHOW ME YOUR HANDS. NOW. YOU BETTER NOT MOVE. YOU HEAR ME? DO NOT MOVE. DO NOT [screaming] KYLE, GET BACK. KYLE. KYLE. CROSSFIRE. YOU GOT HIM? YOU'RE GOING TO put your hands on him? Get back. You're going to roll over right now. Do it. GET OUT. >> [screaming] >> LET GO OF THE TREE. >> [screaming] >> HANG ON. HANG ON. HANG ON. HANG ON. CALM DOWN. CALM DOWN. CALM DOWN. CALM DOWN. Stand up. >> Put your feet under and stand up. STAND UP. >> [screaming] >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. YOU DIDN'T pull [ __ ] Tell him he's in custody. You got him? >> Step out. Go. >> Go. >> After an insane chase finally comes to an end, officers discover Andrew hiding inside a hole deep in the woods and he's immediately taken back into custody for the second time that same day. But even after all of that, he still doesn't make things easy for him. >> I know my rights. >> Good. Even after everything Andrew had already put them through that day, officers still make an effort to treat him with consideration. >> Ready? >> Mhm. >> I think you're steady training all right. Good? I'm going to go ahead and empty this thing. All right. >> In February 2025, Andrew Carl Delcamp pleads guilty to tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest by fleeing while creating a substantial risk of death or serious injury to others. He is ultimately sentenced to 7 years for tampering along with an additional 2 years for resisting arrest to be served consecutively.
