welcome back to the DUI Channel we are in Morris Illinois where on January 6 2020 at 6:20 p.m. a Morris police officer responded to an accident within City Limits at 8:25 East Washington Street on Route the officers were advised that the suspect had fed the scene on foot the suspect was soon located approximately. 3 mil away near the intersection of East Jackson Street in East Washington Street the officer then exited his Patrol vehicle to speak with the suspect as his investigation [Applause] begins it's going all right um what you got in your pocket there bud some some weed looks like a form and asked to provide a breath alcohol sample to which he refused in court the defendant was charged with failure to report accident to police improper traffic lane usage failure to reduce speed operation of uninsured motor vehicle leaving scene of property damage accident and driving under the influence of alcohol or DUI on May 16th 2020 5 months and 10 days after the arrest Thomas pled guilty to DUI in exchange for all the other charges to be disposed as Noah PRI this means that the prosecution chose to no longer pursue the these charges along with a $917 fine the defendant was ordered to pay a total of $2,727 this amount has been paid in full the defendant was send to 5 days in jail conditional discharge of 24 months a 10 DUI school attend a Victim Impact Panel and participate in a drug and alcohol evaluation of note the suspect ultimately did not report the vehicle stolen furthermore the suspect's girlfriend informed Morris police that Thomas told her that he crashed the vehicle which was consequently uninsured before fleeing the scene of the accident
