Let's keep it a cordial conversation. >> It is a cordalation, but you're trying to run this conversation. That's not how this is going to But you're trying to run this conversation. That's not how this is going to >> Oh, boy. A cop who needs to control things. >> Sensual conversation. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Well, then you have a nice day. >> Well, unfortunately, that was not the end of this. So, let's back up. This began when one of America's most popular constitutional auditors, Amigans Press, visited Anglewood, New Jersey. And we're just going to take a local walk around, take some video, take some photos, pay a little visit on the fine folks here, see how everyone's doing, and see what's good. Let me give you a little view of the neighborhood here where we are. >> He took some videos, chatted with some folks, including a few business owners who asked him what he was doing. >> Sorry, >> can I help you? >> Can you help me? No, not at all. >> What are you guys doing? >> Sorry, >> what are you guys doing? I'm shooting a video. >> For who? >> What? >> For who? >> What is this? An interrogation? >> It's a high-end luxury store here. >> Well, normally you come out call the police. >> My name is Joe. >> Okay. >> All right. I'm Lou. I'm the COO here. >> Okay. Well, my name's Jason. I was saying you usually people come out and say, "My name's Joe." >> All right. I'm introducing myself. >> Okay. >> What are you guys doing? Who you work for? >> That's a lot of questions, man. >> All right. Well, I'm going to call police. >> You're going to call the police? >> Really? >> Yeah. Not answering questions is not against the law, but the business owner was weirded out. And a few minutes later, Englewood officer Dela Cruz arrived. At first, things were polite. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> How you guys doing? >> Good. >> Going to be in front of 26 uh pound. >> How's it going? >> Good. How are you guys doing? Good. >> What's going on today? What's going on? Just filming up and down the businesses. >> Exactly. >> Okay. Any reason why? >> Any reason why? >> Yeah. I mean, some of the business owners are just concerned. >> Oh, I got you. You know, it's just what I felt like doing today. It's a beautiful day. >> Do you guys have any ID on you? >> Do I have any ID? >> Yeah, >> I always have ID. >> Okay. Can I see it? >> The cop can ask, but a citizen who has not committed any crime is entitled to refuse to produce ID. >> Why would I give you ID? >> ID. >> It's just a routine thing just asking for ID. I mean, what what's your why do you guys What What are you guys filming? >> I just told you I'm out enjoying the beautiful day taking some video. >> Okay. Well, I mean, some of the business owners are concerned. Some of the businesses have been vandalized before. They've been robbed before. So, I mean, >> just addressing those concerns. >> Okay. Well, do you have any >> Is there any reason why you guys don't want to proide any ID? >> Is there any reason that you would think I just told you why they're concerned? So, I'm >> You're not letting me finish. You're not letting me Let's keep it a cordial conversation. >> It is a cordal conversation, but you're trying to run this conversation. That's not how this is going to >> Is this a consensual conversation? Absolutely. Well, then you have a nice day. >> So, at this point, the Karen cop has had her feelings served because a citizen is exercising his constitutional rights. Within minutes, a sergeant and a lieutenant show up and thankfully they respect the constitution. >> How you doing, Serge? >> Okay. Thank you. >> How boss? >> What's up, gentlemen? What's going on? >> Out enjoying the day. taking some video, man. What you guys doing? >> They're taking videos in front of all the businesses. Some have called concerned because, you know, they've been burglarized in the past. I just asked them for ID. They're going to ride it. >> They're not really saying what specifically why. >> Is there a specific purpose or you just like the store? >> I'm just out taking some video and taking some pictures, man. That's all it is. Whatever you say, that's it. >> Simple as that. >> Well, no. I mean, that's >> Well, you know what? And I don't want to take it out on you. Your officer's a little uneducated about the law here and coming off a little. Your job description tells you to deescalate things, not escalate. You're trying to ramp it up. So, I'm >> I'm the one who has the camera in my face. >> This is what I mean. So, I'm just going to stick with the large here. >> What? >> I'll tell you exactly what I'm doing. Okay. >> I'm all yours. >> I'm out on the sidewalk taking pictures and video >> of what? I'm sorry. >> Taking pictures and video. Okay. >> Anything I can see. >> Right. All right. Well, listen. The reason why I'm asking is sometimes you get freelancers, they're doing certain things, they're writing an article sometimes. I'm just asking what what the backside. >> No, and that's exactly right. And I instructed officer Dela Cruz here who doesn't want to let me get a word in edgewise that this is a consensual conversation, so I don't have to answer any of her questions, but I was trying to be cordial until she started getting an attitude. >> Well, the complaintant felt a little uneased because the camera was stuck right inside of their face. So that's why they called. >> Well, that's what they told you. >> No, time piece. >> Yeah, that's what they told you. All right. Are >> you guys just independent guys or you >> just uh taking some video and pictures, man. That's all I'm doing. >> Well, you understand how vague that is, right? >> Well, I understand how vague it is when she tells me she's demanding my identification because she thinks I'm going to rob a store or vandalize a store. >> You're deflecting. >> No, I'm not deflecting. >> Do you understand how vague it is when I come out? >> This is not a usual occurrence. You >> Here, I'm going to tell you. Let me finish my thought though. >> Normally, I'm on the avenue all the time, right? The avenue is what we kind of colloally call Palet Avenue. Okay. Right. >> And I've been here for I've been employed with the PD for like 19 years. Okay. >> This may be the second time >> that there's some there's two guys with professional cameras and mics. So I'm just kind of inquiring what the backstory is. So when you tell me, no, we're just, you know, we just take a video. Well, yeah, obviously you are, but I don't know if you're working for someone. I don't know if >> Well, it doesn't matter. What's the difference? >> No, it doesn't matter at all. I'm just asking I'm just asking so that it would make sense. Well, all I'm telling you is is like, and you're being very respectful, so I'm going to give you that respect back. No reason not to. >> But all I'm telling you is that as I stated, this is a consensual conversation. I don't have to answer any of your questions, but I'm voluntarily to just try to quell your fears and let you know what I'm doing. >> I'm not saying you did anything wrong. I'm just understand. >> And this this officer right here, Dela Cruz, needs to learn when she's got legal authority, lawful authority, to ask someone for their identification. >> I can ask anyone for identity. >> You can ask, but you can't demand it. >> So, a couple of things here. What a lot of people don't understand about constitutional auditors who are filming businesses and government properties that they are actually auditing and testing the police or the government workers. And in this case, the sergeant passed with flying colors. He was curious about the guys with the cameras but stayed calm and matter of fact and respected their rights. Officer Dela Cruz was a problem because when a citizen exercised his constitutional rights hurting the officer's feelings, Officer Dela Cruz then escalated. And if constitutional rights threaten a police officer, that cop is dangerous. Kudos to Emigans press for staying calm but firm and responding respectfully when the police respected him. Now, a lot of people who watch our videos on constitutional auditors get angry at the auditors and at me. How can you give an auditor attention, the folks say when these auditors instigate things? Well, think of it this way. A health inspector often instigates a surprise inspection of a restaurant or store. If the restaurant is dirty and fails inspection, should we be mad at the health inspector? Of course not. We should be upset and concerned about the restaurant. It's the same with constitutional audits. If police or other government agents do their job and respect the constitution, they have nothing to worry about when being tested by somebody with a camera. But if a police officer escalates and tramples on constitutional rights, that's a problem. And it helps all of us. If every police department, just like every restaurant, expects an inspection or audit at any time and is vigilant in keeping their business clean. By the way, here in Connecticut, a state police sergeant has proven he is one of the worst. He recently assaulted a man with a camera for the second time in two years. >> Stop pushing me. I'm trying to get in. I'm trying to get in the building. >> The building. You have no business here. >> I do have business here. Stop acting like a like a like a savage. What are you doing? At this point, Sergeant Brian Fehee assaulted me yet again. >> Fehee just took my camera yet again. The coward that he is, he just took my camera yet again. >> Check out that video at the link below. I'm David Schuster. Thanks for joining us.
