So over the years we've had five different um cases of livestock worrying. Uh the recent one was a couple of weeks ago. Varying results from uh animals had to be put down. Veterary assistant needed. Nothing really nothing comes positive out of it. If there's as a sheep farmer, it's the one call that you you're always dreading and when's the next one going to be? And then once you get that call saying there's a dog in with the sheep, your first thing is right, we need to get there quick and stop it. And then once once that's been stopped, um it's finding out what damage is done, what what what sort of physical damage to the animals. There's nothing worse than turning up to a field and there's blood all over the sheep. Um, there's dead ones lying around. It's It's horrific. You spend all of your life, all of your time trying to look after them and through no no decision of mine, somebody else has made a decision um to let their dog run and we've got to sort the aftermath. I've not met anybody that's had a dog that's done it on purpose. Uh the main comment is he's out of character. He's never done that sort of thing before. I've not had a problem with people that walk a dog through the sheep. Um most of the time people are completely respectful and have the dogs on leads and under good control. The last one was half a mile away from where the sheep were. Um the dog took off after something and just happened to find itself in a field of sheep. um it was able to catch a sheep and fortunately for the sheep there was not much damage but for a while after the sheep were always very much on edge because they're they're into that panic mode. What's coming? What's coming? What's coming? It's the one thing I dread. Um it it's there's a lot of ups and downs with with the sheep and that sort of thing. Um lamming now these are all due to give birth next month. If a dog got in amongst these um did a sustained chasing round, even if nothing actually died, the the sort of damage to the to the unborn lambs can be I I doesn't bear thinking about. Yeah. I just plead if you're out walking in the countryside, keep the dog on a lead because it it's no good for you. It's no good for me. It's no good for the dog.
