On the morning of August 10th, 2024, a deadly high-speed crash in Miami involving Instagram model Macy Lathers left two people dead. Macy, allegedly under the influence and driving at 78 mph with a suspended license, slammed into another vehicle, killing Abraham Ismael and Jesus Rubio, and injuring Juanita Hernandez. Disturbing body cam footage shows Macy wandering, hallucinating, and resisting officers while bystanders react in shock. Witnesses say she attempted to flee and was incoherent, referencing numerology and hallucinations. Despite a prior record of traffic violations and license suspension, she was still on the road. Prosecutors later charged her with 15 serious felonies, including vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter. Her bond was revoked after she posted bail. A civil lawsuit also targets Club 11, where Macy allegedly worked, claiming the club encouraged her drug use. A GoFundMe was created for the victims. The criminal trial is ongoing. A civil case is scheduled for 2026. How about this driver? Is he responding? He dead. He dead in the car. No, no, no. Hold on a second. Rescue's going to take care of it. Why are we saying that? News coverage featured an interview with family close to the two fatal crash victims. My heart is break because I can say goodbye. You can feel the pain through the screen as Sylvia Molina Cruz speaks to us from Nicaragua. I never say goodbye. I only have nothing. Sylvia's brother Abraham Ismael, his fianceé Juanita Hernandez, and his friend Jesus Rubio driving on their way to work. You can see them here in this photo. Abraham and his friend would die outside of his fianceé, Abraham. Also left behind his 16-year-old son. You took part of our life. You broke family after her arrest. Macy faced three counts of operating a vehicle on a suspended license resulting in death or injury. Two counts of leaving the scene of a crash, resulting in death. Two counts of vehicular homicide and failing to stop at the scene of the crash. One count of reckless driving resulting in serious injury. Two counts driving under the influence resulting in manslaughter and failing to render aid. One count of driving under the influence and causing bodily injury. two counts of driving without a license and causing serious bodily harm and two counts of leaving the scene of a crime resulting in serious bodily injury. She was initially given a $140,000 bond and placed on house arrest after posting bail judge Terresa Mary Pere revoked her bond citing the ease of escaping house arrest and ordered her held without bail. Around this time, Macy pleaded not guilty to all charges. Prosecutors soon dropped five of her 15 charges likely because more serious versions of the same offenses were already in place. The case is currently heading to a jury trial. If convicted, Macy faces a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 30. If sentenced concurrently, she faces a minimum of 22 years and up to 175. If sentenced consecutively, Macy's driving history adds more frustration to the situation. between October and July. She was ticketed for failing to register her vehicle running a red light caught on a traffic camera and for crossing a median strip on a highway. Although records show her license was suspended back in January, she faced no charges for driving on a suspended license prior to the crash. Despite being pulled over and ticketed in May, Macy also racked up five unpaid parking tickets from October to June 9th. According to the Miami Dade County Clerk's Office website, the fifth unpaid parking ticket triggers a tow order and allows officials to seize her car records indicate this never happened. Had those rules been enforced by the book, Macy likely would not have had access to a vehicle. Macy also faces a civil lawsuit, which names both her and the nearby owners of Club 11, which operates 24/7. The suit claims Macy was employed as a dancer and was required to party with patrons to boost spending, including using drugs and alcohol. It alleges the club encouraged her drug use, then let her drive and seeks over $50,000 in damages. The loss incites Club 11's director of security being on the scene of the crash as we saw in body cam footage. I'm the director of security at 11. That's one of my employees. I think I try to get ahead of the curveball. You know, the guy from Club 11 comes, oh, I'm trying to see if it's one of my girls. Can you tell me that car have a sunroof? You know, cuz your girl Both Macy and the club formally denied all allegations, including her employment. The club admits she applied and auditioned. In turn, the plaintiffs have not yet shared their full discovery, which seemingly includes over 350 pieces of evidence that civil trial is scheduled for February 2026, likely after the results of Macy's criminal trial have concluded.
