October 4th, 2023, police were called to a hotel in Las Cruces, New Mexico after a case worker needed help with a woman refusing to leave her vehicle. When officers arrived, she continued refusing their commands and things would soon escalate. >> So, situation pretty much is is I picked her up and I took her to like run errands all over town. >> Uh-huh. >> Um she told me that she was going to stay with a friend here. So, I brought her um So, I brought her here. She was trying to get a hold of the friend. The friend wouldn't answer. Finally, he did. He said that he was like 2 hours away. So, I said, "Okay, cool. Like you can either stay here with your stuff or I'll take you to McDonald's and meet him for him there." She didn't want to do either or. She got a hold of that guy again and he said that he apparently wasn't staying here anymore. He decided to go somewhere else. I said, "Well, you need to start calling like friends, family, whoever, you know, to try to figure out like where you're going to stay cuz we don't do placement after they're 18." >> Yeah. >> She's like, "I don't have anybody." And I'm like, "Dude, I don't know what to tell you. You know what I mean? Like we're kind of SOL." And so, she's like, "Just drive." And I'm like, "Well, where do you want me to take you?" And I said, "I have to take you somewhere." She's like, "Well, just take me to the office." And I'm like, "I can't take you to the office cuz you're over 18." >> Yeah. >> So, I'm kind of like stuck because she doesn't have any money. Somebody apparently stole her money that I gave her on Friday cuz they get checks every month. She cashed it on Friday. Um she said she had stayed at one hotel Friday and then she stayed with a friend. She ended up getting arrested, I believe, on Sunday for a warrant that she had out and battery on an officer as well. >> What's her name? >> Daysha Como. >> Ah, yeah, I know who she is. >> Yeah. >> Ah, yeah. Let me talk to her, get her out. I mean >> Yeah. >> I >> I mean >> you already did the favor taking her around, which you don't have to, and it's just ridiculous that >> And that she doesn't like law enforcement. >> Uh of course not. Can you please stop? >> [crying] >> PLEASE, STOP. >> PUT MY DOOR. >> CAN I PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, THIS ISN'T THIS ISN'T PLEASE, STOP. >> SO, WE GOT TO COME DOWN HERE FOR THE AGENCY to speak with See why I pulled you They took They took Deja out today for uh just to run errands. I guess to help her out just cuz she was on her face on the floor. She was supposed to stay here. So they don't have nothing to do with her. Just doing it out of their kind heart. She doesn't want to get out of the vehicle. >> I get here. Is she a juvenile? >> No, she's 18. >> Okay. >> So that's why she can't Deja was trying to go to the CWP and she's like we don't take you. You're an adult. You're too old. So she's like you need to get out of my car. So they agreed to keep her stuff for her. And but she needed to get out to stay here or find another place to go. >> Cuz she cuz she's kicked out of CWP. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And so she was trying to tell her here or she'll take her to McDonald's where she could wait there for her friend that supposedly lives here. So it came up to that the friend wasn't coming out. She didn't want to get out. I made contact with her. She's just yelling like cuz she doesn't like law enforcement. >> Okay. >> So I even told her look I'm going to cuz she kept telling me get out of here, get away from me. So I'm like cool I'll step back. Just get your stuff. Get out. I was like cuz you can't >> stay in here. >> So I stepped back. She still refused refused. She would play the game of she would get out and then get back in. Then get out. >> So they wanted her out of the car? >> Yeah, they wanted her out of the car. She didn't want to give me her name. But I knew her first name only. So I told her give me her last name and her date of birth. She didn't want to. Finally I just grabbed her arm, pulled her out. And then when we turned she tried to get around me to get back in. So then I placed her on the hood of the van and then just detained her at that point. >> are your charges right now? >> So right now I got the concealing identity and then I got her resisting. >> Okay. Oh, you lift her up off the ground or >> Like no, I turned her and I pushed her up cuz she was trying to yeah against the car and then I put the >> So already got photographs of her or what? >> Yeah, well me we're going to take her to the hospital right now cuz she's complaining of >> So when we were trying to put her in the unit she went face first into >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Are you going to calm down? >> What's going on? >> She's saying she wants to go to the hospital. >> I don't know. She said her stomach hurts, but I know the ambulance was just here and I don't know what happened. >> They were going to take her to the hospital. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> Which hospital are you >> Uh probably MMC cuz it's going to be the closest. >> Okay. >> Was it just a bad day today or >> Well, she was supposed to stay with a friend here and then she called her friend. He was 2 hours away, so we waited a little bit and then um her friend finally like called her, I guess, and told her that he wasn't staying here anymore. And so then I was like, "Well, then what do you want to do?" >> Also, the plans fell apart. >> Yeah, and I said, "What do you want to do? Where do you want to go?" Cuz we don't place them after they're 18 and she called a couple people. Two said no and then two were out of town, so she couldn't. And so >> So basically she's homeless on the streets. >> Pretty much, yeah. I called the shelter, they said no. They do intakes between 12:00 and 3:00 and that's it. Um I asked them if, you know, on an emergency basis, they said no. For me to call back tomorrow morning cuz the person that makes those decisions won't be there tomorrow. Um and I have nowhere to put her. You know what I mean? Like I mean, I don't place them after they're 18. >> Yeah, I I I know that. >> Beautiful. Beautiful. >> What does she What is she expecting to happen? >> I don't know. I have no idea. >> Was she like this all day long or what? >> No. >> She's calm and everything? >> Not too calm, but she was calmer. Yeah. It kind of all started when we picked up her stuff at the uh house that she got arrested on Saturday. >> Oh, she got arrested on Saturday? >> Yeah, she got arrested on Saturday. She had a warrant out and then they picked her up for uh resisting No, resisting assault on an officer. >> Okay. So, she's just escalating this to get arrested or what? >> I Honestly, I don't know. I don't think she wants to get arrested, but it's like she has nowhere to go and I >> Well, I much rather sleep on the in in a bush than with the police at the jail. Yeah, I don't ever want to go there, trust me. I never want to go there. You're welcome. >> I don't want you around. >> I got Percy Percy is coming over here. So she forgot her purse. Do you need some water? >> No, I need YOU TO LEAVE ME ALONE. >> YOU'RE IN MY CUSTODY. >> I DON'T CARE. I DON'T NEED YOU TO TALK TO ME OR ANYTHING. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE. >> DON'T TALK THEN. THEN DON'T TALK THEN. >> I DON'T WANT I CAN TALK IF I WANT TO. I DON'T NEED YOU AROUND. I DON'T NEED YOU TO GET THE GET THE GET THE [ __ ] AWAY. >> YOU'RE IN MY CUSTODY. >> [ __ ] OUT OF HERE. >> ALL RIGHT. >> GET THE AWAY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE [ __ ] YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. I SAID IT TO YOU. GET THE AWAY. >> YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE SCREAMING IN THE HOSPITAL. >> I don't give a >> I know you don't. >> You're the one ACTING LIKE A [ __ ] 5-YEAR-OLD. >> I GOT YOU. >> YOU'RE THE ONE THAT'S BEEN DOING ALL OF THIS BULL >> MA'AM. >> BYE. >> I KNOW HER PURSE >> BACK UP. You spit on an officer, but if you comply and just relax, we'll get you out of that, but you haven't yet. You haven't even calmed down a little bit. >> I don't want you >> [laughter] [gasps] >> He said that. Bernie inhaler. >> Okay, we'll get that right now. >> Oh. >> Do you guys have a Like is there an inhaler for there? >> I'm sorry. >> She said she has asthma and she needs an inhaler, but I was just wondering if you guys give them >> We don't like have it in here. We have to >> It would have to be ordered. I was just asking cuz she's but it's just she's just upset cuz she has a spit mask. >> Yeah, that's why she's like I can't breathe. >> Yeah, it's she sprayed on the officer, so >> Can I please have some I need Please. Can [laughter] I please have some water? >> Are you going to stop? >> Yes. >> I have water right here. >> I have >> I have water right here. >> I really Can I please have some water?
