he grabbed my son grabbed him by his neck and my son still didn't fight with him okay oh yo yo yo yo yo [Music] put it down Governor's rule you can't have any more alcohol after 11. foreign even after a judge said his trial was full of holes the officer was convicted for killing a man in 1996 who he believed was about to strike his father on the head with a baseball bat in 1997 a horrifying case of police brutality took place in Brooklyn involving Justin Volpe and Abner luima it all began when luima was arrested at a popular Club in East Flatbush following a fight Volpe mistakenly believed that luima had punched him in the head although it was someone else who did so as luima was taken into custody Volpe physically assaulted him in the police car the violence didn't stop there upon arriving at the station Volpe and another officer continued to beat luima inside the Brooklyn 70th Precinct Station House however the most horrifying part was Yet to Come Volpe took luima to a bathroom in the Station House where he committed an unspeakable act of violence using the jagged wooden handle of a broomstick Volpe sodomized luima the witnesses testified to the assault the broomstick used as a weapon was never found during the attack luima reported that Volpe and the other officer used racial slurs repeatedly shockingly after the assault Volpe boasted about his actions to other police officers in the precinct after the brutal assault luima suffered severe injuries including a ruptured colon and bladder and broken teeth it took him several months to physically recover from the abuse the incident sparked immediate outrage within the NYPD and the public thousands of people took to the streets to protest demanding Justice for Abner and condemning the actions of the officers involved many criticized the nypd's slogan of courtesy professionalism respect altering it to criminals perverts racists to express their anger during volpe's trial judge Eugene H Nickerson strongly condemned him for committing an exceptionally heinous crime that not only harmed luima but also tarnished the reputation of the police department and society as a whole the evidence against Volpe continued to mount leading him to eventually plead guilty to the crime he acknowledged betraying Abner luima's rights the trust placed in police officers by the city and his own integrity and that of his colleagues an attorney I think that in a scale of one to ten folby's apology was a minus one he did only what he thought he had to do he clearly did not address the pain he's caused this man Volpe received a 30-year prison sentence and the judge described his actions as an incredibly brutal abuse of power second only to intentional murder in its barbarity as a result of his conviction Volpe was promptly fired from the police force during his statements in court he showed visible emotion frequently choking up he acknowledged the gravity of his actions and recognized that the impact of the case went beyond just him and Abner luima he expressed remorse for the harm he caused to louisma and his family acknowledging that his actions had intensified existing fears people had about law enforcement especially because he was a police officer he will finally be forced to face the reality of the crimes that he committed over two years ago crimes against two innocent men and crimes against the rule of law in this city currently Volpe is serving his prison sentence in a federal facility in Texas in 2012 while behind bars he married Caroline Volpe in a prison ceremony in 2021 he made an appeal to judge Frederick Blackburn in Brooklyn seeking early release due to concerns about Contracting covid-19 in prison he asserted that he wasn't trying to escape punishment for his crime but he believed his family had already endured enough during his 21 years in prison however the judge rejected his appeal stating that the risk of covid-19 infection wasn't a strong enough reason to Warrant his release especially considering the seriousness of his crimes judge Blackburn emphasized that there were no extraordinary or compelling reasons justifying a reduction in his sentence given the grave nature and circumstances of his actions as of now Volpe is scheduled to be released in 2025. thank you we are learning much more about the couple found shot to death in a parking structure in the 2100 block of scholarship in Irvine in February 2013 Christopher Dorner caused fear and panic among Southern Californians for nine consecutive days a former officer of the Los Angeles Police Department Dorner had embarked on a vengeful Mission against his former colleagues at the department however before his life took a dark turn Dorner had been an upstanding citizen he had a promising athletic career served as a law enforcement officer and was honored for his military service dorner's childhood dream was to become a police officer and he grew up in Orange County California with that ambition in his teenage years he even participated in the city of Las Palmas Police Department youth program he pursued higher education earning a degree in political science from Southern Utah University during his time in the U.S Navy he was recognized for his exceptional Marksmanship skills in 2005 5. Dorner pursued his dream of becoming a law enforcement officer by enrolling in the police academy in Los Angeles however his experience in the academy was far from smooth unlike his time in the military reports indicated that Dorner got into trouble when he accidentally discharged a firearm and he was also known for clashing with authority figures there was even an accusation that he had punched another recruit which he strongly denied however the incident that led to his dismissal from the police force happened in 2007. Dorner made an official complaint against his field training officer alleging that the officer had kicked a mentally ill suspect in the head during an arrest the officer denied the accusation and an internal affairs investigation concluded that the kick did not happen as a result Dorner was charged with making false accusations although the father of the alleged victim testified that his son had told him about the kick the alleged victim chose not to speak up about it nonetheless the victim had been examined by a physician immediately after the arrest and three other Witnesses testified that they did not witness any such attack during this period the training officer had also criticized dorner's performance in an evaluation report ultimately the discipline board found Dorner guilty of lying leading to his dismissal from the police force this setback deeply affected him how did she describe Christopher's order she described him as a trainee she did not have flattering things to say about him after dorner's dismissal from the police force his dream of becoming a police officer shattered and this became a turning point leading to the tragic events of 2013. over time dorner's anger intensified he fought against the reasons for his termination but in 2010 a judge upheld the lapd's decision his personal life was also in turmoil one of his ex-girlfriends Ariana Williams warned others about his unstable Behavior urging them to stay away from him Dorner became increasingly isolated from his friends and family in his Manifesto he revealed that he had lost contact with his mother and sister and was battling severe depression he accused the LAPD of victimizing him for speaking out against their culture of Lies racism and excessive use of force he demanded that his name be cleared stating unequivocally I want my name back period there is no negotiation tragically before his Manifesto became public his violent Rampage had already begun the suspect is still outstanding and are using on February 3rd 2013 Dorner shot and killed Monica Kwan 28 and Keith Lawrence 27 who were engaged to be married they had no association with the LAPD but Quan's father had served as dorner's representation during his disciplinary hearing in dorner's distorted mindset this fact made the couple a valid Target he expressed his twisted beliefs stating I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own I'm terminating yours right now police are trying to figure out who killed this couple and why in the days that followed authorities provided protection to more than 50 families including several who were connected to dorner's former police department colleagues against whom he had vowed Vengeance in his Manifesto Dorner didn't stop his Killing Spree he shot and injured two police officers who were assigned to protect someone mentioned in his Manifesto then he opened fire on two other officers who were stopped at a red light tragically Michael Kane a father of two lost his life and the other officer was left in critical condition the police initiated a large-scale search operation and offered a reward of 1.2 million dollars for Christopher dorner's arrest despite weeks of effort authorities were struggling to locate him at one point they mistakenly shot and injured two women in a truck they thought was dorner's vehicle eventually they were able to trace Dorner to a condo in Big Bear Lake a small town 100 miles east of Los Angeles he had been hiding in the condo observing the ongoing Manhunt until the couple who owned the condo returned he then tied them up stole their car and escaped however the police were on his Trail and they eventually chased him to a cabin I'd identifying him one of the things that that I remember was that he he had a lot of guns that were registered to him according to his Manifesto Dorner had vowed to Target law enforcement officers and their families and he stayed true to his word by not harming anyone else on February 12 2013 at the cabin in the small town Dorner engaged in a shootout with the police resulting in the death of one sheriff's deputy and injury to another despite the police's attempts to apprehend him he refused to surrender around 4 15 PM the police deployed pyrotechnic tear gas into the cabin causing it to catch fire recognizing that his options were limited Dorner realized it was the end for him as the Flames consumed the cabin he made the decision to end his life some officers reported hearing a single gunshot from inside the cabin the standoff came to an end Bear Mountain parking lot and that's where the Sheriff's Department had its command post for its massive Manhunt in search over the past few days and if you walk with me here we're just a few hundred feet away from this set of cabins and this was where Dorner was in fact holed up over the past few days two days later a medical examiner confirmed that the burned remains found inside the cabin belonged to Christopher Dorner however it appeared that dorner's Manifesto had resonated with some people in La particularly among minority groups who had long experienced injustices within the policing system Pages supporting Dorner emerged and individuals expressed their grievances against the police while many condemned dorner's actions they sympathized with the issues he raised during a community meeting a man from Los Angeles told LAPD police chief Charlie Beck I don't defend what Dorner did but like many in the community I believe what he said even the LA Police Commissioner William Bratton acknowledged The public's growing mistrust of law enforcement he announced a re-examine nation of dorner's firing while The Manhunt was still ongoing stating I do this not to appease a murderer but to reassure the public that their Police Department is transparent and fair in all the things we do Renford Reese a professor of political science at California state Polytechnic University emphasized that dismissing dorner's actions as those of a crazy person is not enough Reese acknowledged that Dorner was a murderer and had done wrong expressing grief for the victim's families however Reese believed that dorner's actions were a result of various systemic factors in institutions such as education the military and the police which had contributed to creating a dangerous individual the police officer was fired after making threatening remarks to a veteran in this manner what's going on with you today nothing I'm just standing on the street corner talking to this guy I just met and all of a sudden you're pushing me down and being real physical yeah you know why then just as the cop was about to explain the reason things got physical he decided to order the veteran multiple times to lower his voice threatening him with going to jail you know why I don't know why lower your voice lower your voice yes I'm telling you the boys okay listen to me I'm gonna tell you one more time John I'm going to tell you one more time and you're going to go to jail is that right lower your voice so you're going to jail he then proceeds to ask a classic question asking for his ID you have ID on you huh do you have ID on you sir yes sir I sure do people either okay can I show you my ID then they get into an argument about personal space and when they're discussing the problem the veteran seems to be getting closer and closer to the cop's face when you walk up to an officer and you get that close to an officer and it's not good why because now you're in my personal space so I am telling you to back up and when you don't back up when you don't back up for you yes when I give you another person right because when I give you an odor here's her on a power trip because when I give you an order is that right because when I give you an order and you don't follow it that's what happens I told you back up and you didn't I told you back up again or I'm going to sit you down and you didn't so I sat you down that's how it works do you understand that yes completely shocked with what he's just Witnesses the veteran just stares at the cops speechless on this occasion we see a police officer and his colleagues harassing innocent teenagers on your back he didn't do nothing we gotta get off the street my brother didn't do nothing after the chaos erupted in the middle of the road the cop starts pressing the man and the man responds and then things got physical as a consequence they were suspended without pay but you got alcohol put it down put it down Governor's rule you can't have any more alcohol after 11. sir if you drink that you will go to jail go out leave let's go now your hand was on it sir as you can see the officer was already visibly agitated and shortly after this the situation escalated speak freely you got my attention now that's what you wanted so speak freely my issue is you talking to these people of color as if they are less than human the people of color the gentleman right there that called me yes sir you did you got mad because I told you you couldn't drink your drink so you called me that word so there was a problem because the officer didn't allow the man to drink his drink and he called him a very specific word he didn't like on bit you wanna say it again yeah yeah because all you're doing is calling me ignorant nothing it said to me but I can't say it to him right you're white who cares what color I am he called me a word words it's not a Rachel I said he called me that word nobody was told that use it I can't use it the officer who was using racial slurs was eventually arrested next we have a police officer who had the audacity to grab an unarmed 17 year old by the neck and forcefully push him onto a car [Music] my son grabbed him by his neck and my son still didn't fight with him Ian Arnold said the proof is in this video the officer with his hands around her son's neck telling the 17 year old to put out his cigar when he doesn't got a problem with me you got a problem with me the cop then tells the teen to show his hands is glistening don't resist you don't resist the 17 year old was charged with resisting an officer without violence that was unnecessary why would you use Force when he's not doing nothing he's not talking crap to you he's not in your face he's not hitting you this officer was later fired from the police force and charged with assault the cops in question were eventually fired due to their handling of a situation involving a calm news reporter at a school I am allowed to be honored now before you can go to jail sir you want to go to jail because you're going to jail do not touch sir can we talk outside please I am doing my job I'm discovered by the First Amendment a man then steps in and orders the news reporter to leave the building and the situation gets heated please excuse me in this case there was an incident where an officer faced what was likely the largest lawsuit filed against her around turn your hands up higher keep your hands up keep coming back keep coming back to the sound of my voice keep coming back keep coming back coming back he's coming back stop right there if you got on one knee and then the other good keep your hands above your problem don't move what's going on we'll explain everything in a second the woman clearly doesn't know what the heck is going on and continues to ask questions what else is in the truck sir can I please get my cell phone we'll get it for you where are you drinking we're taking you to the car what do you have anything on you that's gonna poke me stick me hurt me no ma'am but can I please kill myself we'll get your cell phone in a second is there any weapons in the car you ready no man there's nothing on there's no weapons I will get your cell phone for you take a seat the officers then approach the vehicle assuming there's somebody in there ready to shoot at any given moment I got your right shoulder see a car seat okay let's get the bed [Applause] it took her a long time to pull over I got a holster right here in the passenger seat but then out of nowhere the psycho cops acting aggressively without a reason get Instant Karma when an actual train hits and demolishes their car dream [Applause] s watch the fence who would park their car on a train track the officer claimed she didn't know the suspect was in the car but she got fired as a result
