cops should be the ones protecting people but what happens when they are the villains and start attacking innocent people for no reason the [ __ ] out get off of me take it out Fu my what the what you get off of me sit sit down dude sit down I'm not a dude call you're damn right you're calling your mother here are two insane examples of police officers assaulting citizens and getting crazy lawsuits after starting off with an incident that happened in February back in 2008 when a video was uploaded to YouTube showing a 2007 incident in Baltimore involving 19-year police veteran Salvatore rivieri confronting a group of teenagers at the Inner Harbor starting with the officer questioning one of the boys about a previous interaction yeah to tell ear you hear me now hey talking to you can you hear me don't get defensive son you just spend you spend some time in juile you're not allowed to ride your skateboards down nowhere yeah I didn't hear you that's why I asked you if you have a thing on don't get defensive with me you backed off me I'm not your father you hear me I'm not your father you kid that attitude your father you give it to me I'll smack your something shut your mouth I'm talking bar shut off where you from dude I didn't do anything where you from sit sit down dude sit down I'm not a dude I'm call you're damn right you're calling your mother dude don't take my skateboard I didn't do anything dude dude one more time it's ma'am it is ma'am are you from the county or something no I didn't do anything I didn't hear you the police officer seizes the skater boy skateboard and then comes back shortly to further intimidate and threaten him where you from I'd like to talk to him I didn't even do anything I didn't hear first of all you disrespected me this badge and my department you understand me when I'm talking to you you shut your mouth and you listen obviously your parents don't put a foot in your butt quite enough cuz you don't understand the meaning respect first of all you better learn how to speak I'm not man I'm not dude I am officer Rivier now the sooner you learn that the longer you're going to live in this world cuz you you go around doing this kind of stuff somebody's going to kill you how old are you 14 number sit down did you not just hear me son what is your problem you go to school and give your teacher this kind of and back talk your teacher then what makes you think you can come and do it to a police officer stop calling me dude a dude is somebody who works on a ranch your friends got brains in their head they know when to shut their mouth you just keep flapping D the officer then asks the boy for his name and and some other things he had no reason to know is your mother home you want to call her so I can talk to her and I'll explain her with the problem but then something crazy happens officer Rivier notices somebody recording him if I find myself officer River's display of unwarranted physical aggression and discourteous conduct towards the teenager contravening the Department's professional conduct guidelines went undisclosed until nearly 12 months later when the incident video was shared on YouTube quickly amassing over 3 million views and taking the boy's father completely off guard since he's only first heard of the altercation when seeing the video instead he found out about it the same way thousands of other people did by watching the video on YouTube he doesn't have to be manhandled and put in a headlock and thrown to the ground there was no reason after the video has been played everywhere over the country new videos of the same officer started coming out where he was causing trouble around the city the sight of a moving box at the Inner Harbor was enough to send officer Salvatore Rivier into action Baltimore Police declined to comment on these latest allegations involving officer Rivier a spokesperson telling abc2 they haven't seen the video so they can't comment as for officer Rivier I'm just sitting in a public space I suggest you start moving okay following the video's viral exposure and public outcry the Baltimore Police Department conducted an internal investigation into the officer's misconduct ultimately clearing him of excessive force allegations but imposing a Six-Day paid administrative leave for failing to file a police report after the incident despite the evident assault and civil rights violations officer Rivier is currently under investigation by Internal Affairs for the skateboarding incident until that probe is resolved he is suspended with pay after more than two years an internal disciplinary panel cleared the officer of most serious allegations but a commissioner decided to terminate him due to his failure to file a police report following the incident Baltimore Police Commissioner Fred beld has fired officer Salvatore Rivier the Baltimore Police Department had no comment today as to what went into the decision but police union leaders voiced their disappointment while the union doesn't oppose the commissioner you know increasing the penalty we think that moving from Six-Day suspension to a termination again is an abuse of his power and discretion however rivieri went on multiple talk shows to to try and defend himself it was also revealed that he was only a year away from his full retirement the officer who gained national attention following this video is now speaking about his recent firing from the Baltimore Police Department and says much more happened that day than the video shows rivieri said Saturday the YouTube video is misleading it does not show several important events leading up to and after the confrontation it doesn't show um my initial contact with Eric Eric Bush and his friends we on the steps of the science center Mar own Science Center where they were told by me that the skateboarding is prohibited by law uh the video doesn't show me handing him back his skateboard shaking his hand nor does it show my own conversation with his mother where she was told of the incident and advised that if Eric left the area would not be arrested uh at that time I didn't feel that giving Eric a juvenile arrest record for skateboarding uh just because he was showing off for his friends was the thing that commissioner beel decision to fire me uh has devastated me and my family I'm sure that we all have moments in our life where we would like a doover and to judge a person's whole life or career on that one moment is to well say say the least it's unfair and here's what the boy's father had to say about the incident Rivier says that he holds no ill will towards Eric Bush and his parents despite what his father had to say about him on the radio that officer should not only not get his job back he should get locked up for assault Eric and his family initiated a legal action against officer rivieri and the Baltimore Police Department citing excessive use of force and violations of civil rights their initial case was dismissed due to a timing related issue but was subsequently taken to appeal leading to a confidential resolution concurrently officer rivieri filed a lawsuit against the Baltimore Police Department claiming wrongful termination and according to the Fraternal Order of Police the union filed an appeal in Baltimore Circuit Court on Friday so ultimately whether he gets his job back or not Rivier will depend on a judge's decision his lawsuit luckily failed though and so did its appeal yet another disappointment for Salvatore Rivier and his supporters as a Baltimore City circuit court judge upheld the former officer firing commissioner Fred beeld fired Rivier for not filing a police report after the incident at the Inner Harbor but critics felt that beeld was getting pressure because of the YouTube video's exposure this case highight highlights the importance of accountability in law enforcement as video evidence and public scrutiny revealed the officer's actions when no prior action was taken it emphasizes the need for citizen oversight through recording interactions with law enforcement next up in January 2015 Richard scavone a former Las Vegas police officer encountered a woman named Miss oritz near Interstate 15 suspecting her of loitering and attempting to engage in solicitation okay come on over man hey what come over here immediately after the officer got out of his police vehicle he starts ordering the woman what to do with a very aggressive tone and the orders just don't make sense what you I got the taser out put your hand behind your back behind your back put your palms together how am I supposed to put my Palms together if you got my [ __ ] hand Miss Ortiz appeared willing to cooperate but the officer reacted emotionally push pushing her towards his vehicle and eventually throwing her to the ground that's it all right that's it I'm going to dump you on the floor in a minute hell you think you're talking to who you talking to who you talking to talking to me straight your feet my feet are straight dad you have your hands on my [ __ ] neck the F get the off of me you doing I don't give a nearby Hotel I don't care cuz they're the camera right you record you finish F me are you finished or no yet the officer doesn't care about the camera and continues his above bad behavior you finished yes my [ __ ] F off the ground you finished1 after Miss Orit is finally allowed to stand up the officers calls dispatch and tells her to shut her mouth finish enough stand here shut up understand me oh no I heard you don't move 468 what he does then though is crazy he starts humiliating her and touching her improperly he even gets violent and slams her head into the car's hood while she's protesting he even starts touching her breasts what else you want to do tough guy go ahead and take me a jaal that's all I want you to do what you got here that's fine don't TCH my B what the ever pull away from me everything is being recorded you're abusing me for read me and you know that I'm not doing ever pull away for me understand me get off of me take it out fck my what the what else you got get off of me what else you got get off of my my what the reach anything while I'm talking to you me no you finished in the car in the car oh my God you're going to walk what are you going to do you do in the car the Acts were a clear violation of her civil rights but no officer intervened to assist Miss Ortiz and scavone was put on paid leave pending a misdemeanor battery charge after the incident that use a for report was reviewed by the supervisors and ultimately it made its way up um through the chain of command where that uh report was reviewed by supervisors we were notified today by the district attorney that they have uh agreed to go forward on a misdemeanor battery charge subsequent to this event officer scavone had been relieved of Duty uh with pay today he remains uh relieved of Duty with pay if a body camera uh is present it is reviewed in every circumstance where a use of force is used the public release of body cam footage ended scavone's law enforcement career led to felony charges and his guilty plea for excessive force while all charges against Miss Ortiz were dropped is the first time that I am aware of that we are bringing criminal charges associated with the review of a body camera on it on duty use of force incident in 2018 officer scavone received a one-year prison sentence for excessive force and later faced a probation violation in 2022 after assaulting two individuals in New York resulting in a 9-month extension of his probation concurrently Miss Ortiz initiated a legal action against the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Richard scavone and fellow officers involved in her unlawful arrest alleging infringements on her fourth and 14th Amendment rights
