On July 28th, 2023, the 911 dispatch at the Key West City Police Department received a call from a taxi driver saying that an individual was banging on his door and asking him to call 911 because he had just been attacked by two men. Soon the story would unravel and the truth would come out. What's going on, man? Okay. in the face. What happened, sir? Three guys grabbed me and threw me in the [ __ ] car and pulled me in the and they drove me south. All right, thank you. You're the best. >> face too. Yeah, sit down in the front seat. We're good. The suspect was identified as the Boston Heights police chief, 40-year-old Chad McCartle. He was arrested and charged with one count of battery. McCartle was placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation. The victim passed away the following October due to unrelated causes.
