You talked to the deputies, you talked to me, but nobody >> I mean, something >> Yes, ma'am. >> But he did it to himself, so >> Uh >> how am I >> Because >> getting charged with this? I don't understand. >> haven't been charged >> police. >> On January 2nd, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, it all started with a heated argument between a woman and her boyfriend. What initially seemed like a personal dispute quickly [music] escalated, leaving the man seriously injured. But when officers began piecing together what happened, they were faced with conflicting accounts [music] and a scene that raised even more questions. Oh, which one? Okay. You got cold? >> Yeah. >> All right, Ms. Kathleen. So, I'm going to give you a copy of this. This is the search warrant. Uh I just have to read it to you. In the circuit uh excuse me excuse me. In the circuit court of the fifth judicial circuit in and for the county of Marion, state of Florida. Official seal of second day of January, 2026, by Honorable Judge Peter Brigham. This is your copy. >> Does he know that you guys are trying to arrest me for attempted murder? >> Yes, he does. And uh I will >> He's okay with that? >> I will provide him a copy of the search warrant and inventory return when we are done. >> Okay. >> So, yes, he is very aware of what's going on. He's been kept aware of the entire process. >> Attempted murder? >> Yes, ma'am. >> But he did it to himself, so >> Uh >> how am I >> Because >> getting charged with this? I don't understand. >> I You haven't been charged >> police. >> You haven't been charged with it, but the allegation right now is that you cut him. >> I did nothing of the sort, but that is insane. >> Well, that's that's his allegation. I got your statement, got his statement, and we're going to see what the evidence in the house supports. >> Okay. >> So. >> Can I see the bag? >> Just let us know if you need anything, okay? >> It starts with a 911 call from Katherine Kennedy, who told deputies that her boyfriend had injured himself with a knife before leaving the house and driving to the hospital. When officers arrived, however, they immediately found evidence that raised questions about what had actually happened inside the home. A large kitchen knife was found in the sink, and deputies noticed suspected blood in multiple areas of the house. Meanwhile, Kennedy maintained that she never touched her boyfriend and said he had caused the injury himself. >> She alleged, called 911, alleged that he had a meltdown, took the knife to his car, cut his throat, and then drove himself to the hospital. >> Mhm. Yeah, okay. >> He alleges that they were in the kitchen arguing, she got a knife, walked up to his cut his throat. He said he ran to the car, drove himself to the hospital. There ain't no knife in the car. >> Okay. >> Patrol says they thought they saw a knife in the sink. >> Okay. >> we're going to see if it matches up to the big knife missing from the butcher block. And they said they saw blood on the floor in the kitchenish area. The main part of the house is like an open floor plan kitchen, living room, dining room, all together. Uh case number's 90 if you don't have it yet. >> Yeah, got it. That's crazy, sorry. I just remembered that it's 2026, and we're starting over. >> Yeah. Uh do we have this guy's name? >> Uh his is Mark, m a r k. Posey, p o s e y. And the girlfriend is Katherine, but spelled c a t h r i n. And then last is Kennedy, like President Kennedy. >> At the hospital, the boyfriend gives investigators a completely different story. He claims Kennedy grabbed a kitchen knife during an argument and cut his throat. Now detectives have two completely conflicting versions of the same incident, and the evidence inside the house could determine which story they believe. >> So he's saying that he Well, she's saying he tried to kill himself, but he's saying she tried to kill him. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> I've He let me search the car at the hospital, um just verbal consent. There's no knife in the car. I don't see any major obvious blood in the car. Um because it's his car, he drove himself to the hospital, I'm not worried about, you know, micro drops and stuff like that, so we're not going to process the car. >> Right. He drove himself, we know that much. >> Yeah. So, if there's blood in the car, I mean, it's like that's >> He was injured somehow and he was running somewhere. >> And he's got a slash from here to here with 14 stitches, so >> How deep was it? Did you see? Or >> Not Not enough to hit a carotid or anything. It's all superficial, but he She filleted open. Uh they got pictures of it already. Um but when I got there, it was all stitched up. He's over here at Dad's house. Apparently, Dad lives next door and he lives over here. >> Okay. Um all right, I'm going to give our on-call supervisor a call just to see if she needs to be here for this. Um just cuz I guess we didn't know that there was a like conflicting stories. We just assumed it was a >> Yeah. >> 34, so I'm just going to give her a quick call, make sure she doesn't need to be here before we start. All right. But if that's all we're looking for, do you have a copy of the warrant we can see? >> I do. >> Okay. >> And I've already executed it with her, so >> Investigators search the boyfriend's car, but there's no knife inside. Then they find the large knife back at the house along with blood in several areas. That creates another problem for Kennedy's explanation of what happened because investigators are now finding evidence that the incident happened inside the home. >> All right, Miss Katherine? Um Got some questions. The knife is in the sink. >> So, did he throw it? Oh. >> If I'm sorry. If he cut himself in the car, like you told me, >> I thought he had the knife in the car. I All I saw was him doing this number, like like he was going to kill himself. >> car. >> No, it started in the house. >> Okay, but that's not what you said. You said that You said that he went out the door and you saw him doing this in that motion in the car. >> Yes, I thought he had it with him. I didn't know it was in the sink. >> Okay. >> I had no idea and I did not lay a freaking finger on that man. You have to believe me. I did not hurt him. >> Well, you understand that, you know, I tried to give you a good opportunity to explain everything to me. You talked to the deputies, you talked to me, but nobody >> know what he did. I mean, I honestly I don't know. >> places in the house. There's by the sink, there's blood over by the by the living room, there's blood multiple places. So, this isn't like something simple that he did in the house and then got out in the car and then you weren't sure. There would be a whole lot more to this story if if there was more going on in the house. >> Well, I don't know. I don't know if he cut himself in the house or if he cut himself in the car or what, but all I know is I seen him have it in his hand. And then I seen him run out the door. I don't know if he was bleeding at that point or not yet, but I thought he had it with him, honestly. >> When detectives question Kennedy again, parts of her story don't seem to line up. She says she saw him cutting himself, but admits she never actually saw the injury happen. Meanwhile, blood has been found throughout multiple areas of the house and investigators are becoming less convinced that this was simply a self-inflicted injury. >> Well, where was he standing in the house? >> By the dog cage. >> Okay. And where else did you see him go in the house? >> Just but you we were arguing right by the dog cage. I had just let the dog in. I shut the back door. >> And then from there he left? >> there and I don't like I said, I didn't see him bleeding, but apparently he cut himself inside and just threw the knife in the kitchen or I don't know. I don't know. It all happened so fast. That's why I called you guys. >> Okay. >> happened so fast. All I know is I saw blood, I saw a knife and then I seen him tear off out of here. >> Right, but you're saying over by the dog cage and then he went out the front door to his car? >> Yeah. I mean, that's the only way he would have gotten out was through the front door. >> So, was he ever by the sink? >> I don't I don't know. I don't know. It all just happened so quickly. Like, I don't know if he was already bleeding or not yet or what or if he just tossed it in there. I don't know. It happened so quickly. That's why I called you guys cuz I >> Well, it kind of looks up. It kind of looks cleaned up. Like >> Cleaned up? >> Yeah, like someone washed the knife off. >> I haven't touched anything. I haven't touched the knife. I did make some prime rib yesterday, but that's >> But, the knife you're both describing is in the sink. >> Yeah, it should be out of the butcher block, right? >> Yeah. >> Yes, that should be the one knife that's missing. >> missing, the big knife is in the sink. >> Yes, that's the one that I saw him have. >> Okay. After comparing both statements with the evidence, investigators tell Kennedy that his story appears to match the scene more closely. She continues denying that she attacked him, but detectives believe they have enough probable cause to act. But, his story is that you you took the knife out of the butcher block, walked up to him, and cut him in the throat. >> That's insane. >> That's what he's alleging. >> None of all happened. >> And And your statements have been that that that he was cutting himself in the car. >> I thought he had it in the car. Yes, I remember seeing him have the knife and him walking out. If he threw it in the kitchen, then >> Yeah, that's what he must have done. But, your statement was never that he was cutting himself in the house. Your statement has always been >> himself in the house. I I swear I told you that. I didn't see him cut himself inside the house. All I know is I seen him with a knife and and then he was just It all just happened so fast and then he was just out the door. And when he was in the car backing away, I seen him doing this this motion. So, I was assuming that he >> But, there's blood There's blood in multiple places in there. You would have seen him bleeding in the house. >> I didn't see him bleeding. I didn't I didn't know that he cut himself in there. I just thought that he was I don't know. It all happened so fast. That's why >> Okay, well, he's he's he's filed sworn statements that it that you did this. And the evidence matches up more to his statements than it does to your statements. And we've had multiple conversations today between me and the deputies and you about, you know, things that have happened in the house. And your story is very um I won't say all over the place, but it's very inconsistent to what the evidence shows. >> I didn't do this. >> Is there anything else we can discuss about this? Any other thing else that would help me prove what the truth was behind it? >> I did not do this. >> All right. Go ahead and step out of the car for me. Turn around face the vehicle. Put your hands behind your back. You're being arrested for attempted first degree >> I didn't do this. >> Well, I'm not a judge or or jury, so I'm not convicting you of nothing. Well, >> a 6'5 man and me and I'm just supposed to run up and grab a knife and >> I'm >> It's insane. Absolutely not. >> Catherine Kennedy was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree What do you think did investigators have enough evidence to make the arrest?
