He's stopped over here. HE'S HITTING US. HE'S HITTING US. [ __ ] >> It's May 5th, 2025 in Akran, Ohio. Officers spot a stolen SUV and attempt to bring it to a stop. Behind the wheel is Mall Gamble, but instead of pulling over, he hits the gas, turning a routine response into a dangerous pursuit. With every mile, one question becomes harder to ignore. [music] What is Gamble so desperate to get away from? The answer isn't waiting at the end of the chase. It's hidden in everything that happened before it. >> Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. your handful. Hey, he's going up on the curb. Come on. Watch out. Watch out. Traffic. Hey. Pour up. Pour out. Pour out. He's going us. >> Come on. >> I got my gun out. Go. He did a U-turn. He's turning back westbound. He is struck our cruiser. Uh, you ran the red light and just clear, right? >> There's no traffic. Road conditions are clear. Weather is good. No traffic. Silver SUV. All right. He's turning uh looks like eastbound on the morning start. He's going to bail. >> Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. >> Hey, I'm going to wear shoes. Where's the I got him. He backed into our cruiser again. He stopped over here. HE'S HITTING US. HE'S HITTING US. >> HEY, you okay? >> As officers move in, Gamble has no intention of surrendering. He weaves through traffic, ignores every command to stop, and turns the streets of Akran into his own escape route. At this point, it's obvious this isn't about avoiding a traffic stop. He's trying to put as much distance as possible between himself and whatever happened before police found him. >> Got a car hands. HANDS HANDS. You will get mother hands. PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE ROOF OR I'M GOING TO KILL YOU. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? >> DO NOT MOVE. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? >> DON'T MOVE. YOU MOVE, you will get ended. >> You got him. You got him. >> Yeah, my right shoulder's got >> I got legs. I got legs. >> I got legs. >> I got I got Okay. Okay. Okay. We got him out of the cruiser. Anybody around? Slow him down. We'll put him in the cuffs now. Are you injured? >> Get up. >> Okay. Get up. Hold on. I'm trying, bro. My right my right shoulder is out. >> Why do you think it was okay for you to run? >> I got jumped. I got Bro, you pulled a gun out on me. >> Where did you get, man? >> I said they tried to me. That's my girlfriend's house. She got my baby and she tripping. And this is Cheryl's house right here. That's my house right here. Cheryl right here. I used I live right here, bro. I ain't lie about this, bro. They put a gun on me, bro. They put a gun on me, bro. I wouldn't do that for no reason, bro. Come on. That's my girlfriend right there. 9:31. Where you pulled up? 9:31. >> I don't care. >> All right, bro. I'm starting. >> Sit down. >> The chase only gets more dangerous as Gamble starts using his SUV like a weapon, ramming police cruisers that try to box him in. Officers finally corner him by pinning the stolen SUV against a tree, ending the pursuit before anyone else gets hurt. Safe to say the just keep driving strategy officially expired. [music] >> Don't step out. Just stay inside. >> Just so I can talk about my arm, bro. My arm, bro. You got to these cups, bro. The cuff is twisted, bro. The cup is twisted. You better like it, bro. >> Yeah. >> Ah, bro. Seriously, bro. I can't move, bro. My We I'll double check it in a minute. >> Just change it real quick. But my [ __ ] out. >> All right. Listen, no crying. I'mma fix it. I'mma fix it if it need fix. But you got to let them evaluate >> right now, bro. >> Yeah. But unfortunately, the reason why you in pain right now is because of your actions. Give us a few minutes and I and I'll help you out. >> All right. >> But you got to give me a few minutes. >> Did you guys talk to Cheryl? >> No, we didn't talk to Cheryl. We don't have to talk to Cheryl right now. >> That's my alibi, bro. There's no alibi, bro. >> That's my house. >> You ran into us. You >> because she had a gun. >> She pulled a gun out after I crashed the car into the house. She p She already had the gun. When I crashed into the house, she ran and got that mother. >> That's why I did it. I was scared, bro. If she has a gun and I ain't got I'm put my hands up. >> Have you hold this arm still? >> Some either one of y'all. I ain't have no hammer on. Why would I come to a gunfight with no hammer? That's why I got in the car. Y'all trying to stop me. So I already crashed her already. Why not? I was trying to get the out of there. >> I was only trying to get here. If y'all would have let me drive this normal, we wouldn't have to do none of this. Y'all was chasing me. >> If you would have stopped, >> bro, why would I stop if she pulled a gun >> and talk to us? >> I know. I get what you're saying, bro. That's the logical thing to do. But when a shooter's at your head, all that go out the window. >> She pulled a gun out. She got a 45. I live with these. I know what they got. >> So, a couple questions here real quick. Okay. Are you taking any medications at all? >> Cypress. >> Cyprex. Okay. That's the only one? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Do me a gra Do me a favor. >> Start grabbing with a se in the back of 17 and throw it in the back of our cruiser for us. >> Good, man. >> All right, man. Take a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Nope. >> Back in the cruise. >> You sit on the ground. To get you up, we're going to have to yank your shoulders. >> My shoulder hurts so bad, bro. I keep playing like Bro, >> I'm not playing. If you would have sat down, how am I going to pick you up? I gotta pull your shoulder up by your elbow. >> Once Gamble is in custody, investigators begin piecing together what he was really running from. Police say the chase actually started after he targeted an apartment connected to his ex-girlfriend following the end of their relationship. The apartment was being rented by her mother, and detectives believe Gamble deliberately drove a stolen SUV straight into the building, damaging multiple parked vehicles and rupturing the main gas meter, triggering a dangerous gas leak that forced the entire complex to evacuate. >> You said that's your car, ma'am. >> Is that your house, >> father? >> That's your house? That's my house. >> Were you in the car? >> No, I was in the house. We were asleep. >> So, what happened? Do you >> Somebody knocked so I came out through the window to look like this. Someone knocked on your door. >> Yeah, he did for banging really loud. >> I live next door. He was knocking on the door. My daughter thought it was our door. So, she opened the window. >> Your kids in the car? >> My kids is in the car right here. This is my car. I moved my car and jumped my kids in the car. >> That was a smart thing to do cuz it looks like there's a gas leak. >> He He was a gas. I'm not sure, but it sounds like something's leaking. >> So, he he my daughter basically told him like, "Um, go to bed. Don't nobody named Quinn live here." And he and he pulled back out the park. Did I take out my passport and things like that? >> No, you should not go over there right now. >> On the other side. >> Yeah, you shouldn't go over there. That's not safe. >> 13. >> So, you broke up with him a couple weeks ago. >> Uh, everyone should be out of all the apartments >> and he shows up tonight out of nowhere banging on your door. >> What happens after that? I I just >> I think he's on something or he's on Influenc. Yeah. >> Yeah. But he was just saying stuff we didn't understand what he was saying. He's just screaming out loud. >> Screaming out loud. Just >> banging both of 17 out of the hospital one time and then we thought he left. >> So he he ran to the other side one time. >> Yeah. The back of the car. And then he left. We thought he was gone, but he came right back and started like backing into the car. It was all the way into the >> house. You said you exit out the front. >> Sorry, the other side. >> I got you. >> All right. Well, give me a second, guys. Uh, we're going to have some more questions for you. My partner might have some for you, but I'm going to get >> You want his phone number or his family phone number? >> Uh, so we got him right now. >> Oh, you are. Okay. >> But, uh, we're just trying to figure everything out right now. >> Okay. Okay. In the end, what looked like another stolen vehicle pursuit turned out to be the aftermath of a revengefueled attack. Two officers were hospitalized. An entire apartment complex had to be evacuated because of the gas leak and dozens of lives were put at risk over a breakup. McCall Gamble was later sentenced to 59 months in prison and received a 6-year driver's license suspension. Turns out revenge has a way of billing you with interest. >> Does he text on Instagram, too, or >> I did, but I deleted the Instagram cuz I didn't want to. >> Okay. Did he text like on your cell phone number though? >> No. >> So all your messages are on Instagram and you deleted that account. >> I deleted it. Yeah. >> Okay. So you got no way of finding those messages. >> Yeah. >> But what did he So he specifically said when you wanted to break up with him, he was saying you can't be with anyone else. You're mine. >> Yeah. >> And he did threaten to you up at that time. >> Yes. >> What do you remember what he said specifically? Like I'm going to punch you in the face. I'm going to >> No, he said I'm going to pull up to your house and like >> Okay. And he sent those messages. How long ago? >> Um like a week ago. >> Okay. So after you broke up. Yeah. A week about a week after and about a week before today. >> Have you heard anything from him since then? >> No. >> What's he doing your Instagram? >> Yeah. He's been like calling me but >> on your phone. >> Yeah. Like no caller. I calls. >> Okay. But you know it's him cuz it's No one else does this. >> Yeah. And then he made like a fake number saying, "Hey, is this India?" Like just like that just to get my attention. right now. >> Do you Well, here's >> And I'm not meaning to be I'm not accusing of anything right now. Is there a reason you didn't call us about this before now? >> Cuz I >> I thought he would just like >> You thought it would blow over? >> I thought I didn't think it would get this far, honestly. >> Okay. >> And yeah, >> he was he was in Florida for like the past week. So when I was in contact like we were talking cuz he was in Florida like when he was sending me those messages he was not even in the state he was in Miami. >> What was the conver was it just him saying threatening stuff to you or were you talking about other stuff too? >> Like no basically the whole it was like about the breakup like give me another chance like stuff like that. >> And you were saying nah. >> No. Yeah. I just kept saying leave me alone. I don't want nothing part like I don't want any I don't want nothing to do with you anymore. That's basically what I was saying. like and he just >> he just wasn't taking no for answer. >> Wasn't taking no and he was he's been trying to do the same to the other girl too. >> Okay. This Brandy girl. Yeah. >> And do you have that Instagram handle or >> I have her Instagram but she doesn't have her um actual name. It's she has >> she has it underneath it like another name. >> Real Honey. You mind if I take this up front real quick just so I can write it down? Mall Gamble, 32, was later sentenced to 59 months in prison, six-year driver's license suspension. So, what do you think? Should intentionally using a stolen vehicle as a weapon against someone's home carry a longer prison sentence? Let me know in the comments.
