the moments when suspects thought they could outsmart the truth but body cams caught every lie in action starting with this case where a suspicious lease turned into a tangled web of lies all caught Florida officers were called to a vacant rental property where a suspected burglary had been reported when the dispatch arrived the property dealer explained the situation of the trespassing that's our property this home is supposed to be vacant so we just need them ejected out of the home and have them trespassed arrested whatever we need to do now everybody out step out now let's go step out anybody else in there come on come on step out Hands in the Air Walk This Way is anybody else in there step out step out come On's going on the police evacuated the trespass property and took these three suspects into custody the boyfriend claimed they had legally rented the house even producing what he said was a signed lease what are you inside the sou we freaking paid for it Monday 4,800 all I just have to see right here come on I have a whole lease inside the lease is right there on the D thing the lease is inside the house yes we paid 4,800 Monday a guy came today he he fre the C just know you okay this so it looks like somebody set up a fat a fake uh polias and these people unfortunately fell victim to it yep at first the officers thought the suspects might have been victims of a scam but soon it became clear that the real scammer was standing right in front of them got a code at 4:00 in the morning to get into this home 4 in the morning at 4 in the morning and they try several times to open the door have you get access today you had a code you had someone Vis the code cuz I don't have a service phone right now mhm what would you say if we had evidence that shows that you accessed their system to gain a code at least four times what would you say about that yes we did do that because we kept on getting locked out from the code so we asked him they said go through the invitation HS to get the code we can't get uh I think his name was like uh started with a be it's like an Indian accent guy we never met him okay do you have proof that you sent this guy money it was through cash it was through cash what did you give this person cash at uh we found him on Facebook I'm pretty sure and he gave us the email like the mail address and we sent it to him so you mailed a stranger cash yeah you've never met the female suspect's lies started piling up and her attempt to lie her way out only made things worse as she kept contradicting herself so the officers gave her one last chance to prove her claims but her explanations only LED them down a rabbit hole where happened to the original door handle and all that stuff where' that go I don't know I have left to go get my stuff and then the door hand was gone so who took it I don't know you should your name's on the paperwork not anybody else's here when did you start moving in I started moving in about 2 days ago how much three two two yeah least was signed yesterday how' you mov in two days ago don't you think that's suspicious me the truth instead of trying to come up with all the stuff because that if that was done yesterday doesn't fall in line with what you're talking about oh I moved in three days ago with things still not adding up officers turned their attention to her boyfriend but his story CL clashed entirely with hers and when officers confronted him he started straying from his own words completely different from yours is literally cuz you're lying came in person oh did you we met him today came along we moved in today we were here only for 5 hours before y'all came through the mail it was sent via mail that's that's what it is he came here today she said Brad she came here today see we will both no you said you paid him in person you literally told me that you know everything's on camera right you literally said you paid him in person when he unlocked the door I said I the female suspect and her boyfriend were charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and a scheme to defraud meanwhile the boyfriend's brother was arrested for violating his probation moving on to the next case where a cop with some personal issues turned a routine fire scene into a heated standoff with a local runer what are y'all doing move out of the way decides he's going to block the road because he needs to move cows on August 14th 2022 officer Matthew Pettit of the Red Oak Police Department was dispatched to a fire scene in rural Red Oak Texas on Route he stopped at a nearby Ranch where local ranchers including Chris Moses were attempting to move cattle away from the fire's potential path what are y'all doing move out of the way hey no move move your vehicles out of the road okay you stop the attitude need to block the damn road to move cows from this way is it not coming you sure yeah I just came over here to cuz our cows were running back here we had to cross them across the road that's why we had the road parod that emergency vehicles are using to get somewhere that's my concern is the fire is going to get bigger if I can't get a fire truck or an ambulance or a brush truck through yeah but reason we had it shut down cuz we just got through moving the tows got them through there and I just lock the gate there's they're locked in there okay there's need to make sure the road stays open cuz if any if any emergency vehicles come from Lancaster if they need to bring water from Lancaster and y'all blocking the road yeah we didn't know if y'all wanted us to block them or not nope okay I need y'all to move out of the road while this may sound like a routine interaction officer pettit's Next Step was unimaginable he recounted false claims about Chris Moses to Sergeant lockar uh they had a line just burst so they had some hot spots come back they went down to just one ho but they're getting ped um you're going to have to feel the complaint I just got into a screaming match with Chris Moses over there he decides he's going to block the road because he needs to move cows and I said well okay well how's it emergency vehicle getting get through to put out the fire that's just going to get bigger because you decide you want to block the road for cows he's got his he's got his his vehicle in the middle of the road with his red and green splashing there's traffic backed up so I I ain't taking his attitude I don't care who you are I yet the body cam footage shows Moses parked on the side of the road his truck had a small LED light bar near the rearview mirror not emergency lights but pettit's exaggerations didn't end there now what do you need Chris you're not allowed to block an entire roadway okay I don't know if you know that but you're not allowed to stop stand Park in the middle of the roadway it's against the transportation code okay to move cows from one pure to another pass to block the roadway that's right that's right to Brak I'm not having an argument with you okay call Chief that's fine I'm done arguing with you BS you you're allowed to ignore it that's what you're saying it's okay sure officer Pettit also claimed the ranchers were violating Texas Transportation laws by driving side by-side vehicles on the road however he failed to acknowledge that the code allows exceptions for certain agricultural activities what up with here Chris I'm not going to put up with your attitude either okay I don't got to sit here and take attitude if you're going to Dish it back to me okay ma thank you my job is not to take attitude from people that are telling me how to do my job that's not that's not my job he has to say he was sitting in his truck blocking traffic not moving any cows I'm I'm seriously I'm not going to get talked to Wrong by Chris Moses side by side they're not even supposed to be driving the side by side on the road although Peta didn't wrongfully arrest or sight Moses his behavior throughout the encounter painted a picture of hostility and unprofessional and while Chris had already filed a complaint no action has been taken until now this last case involved a lot of confusion over cattle and Haven police officers in Atlanta Georgia ran the tag of a Dodge Charger which turned out to be reported stolen by a rental company while the driver hesit hesitated momentarily as if contemplating fleeing he eventually pulled over do not move put your hands up is anybody else in the car all right open the door from the outside and step out of the vehicle you have the rental agreement in there it's probably what's going on okay listen all right this is this is you're not under arrest at the current time you are detained because the car is coming back stolen oh okay all right okay that's fine why does that make sense I'm coming from work this I got you man I got you the driver claimed to have a rental agreement in the car and appeared genuinely surprised insisting he had been paying for the rental is there a rental agreement in there you said you said you rented a car you have a rental agreement all right you rented it back in July is that right when I first got it yeah okay have you been extending it or I've been paying you've been paying it for the rental do you have anything any emails or anything to coordinate that any notifications from AIS that you sent or received about the car in your phone email you are you late on returning it or anything or initially you rented it just for a couple days is that right okay and you've been in contact with them extending the rental when he failed to produce any proof his story shifted this time the driver claimed that he already had a personal car and the warranty company was supposed to cover the rental costs for this one a credit card on file so this I got this car through I had another car and the car was in the shop so my warranty people was paying for the rental so I was when I talked to my warranty like a week ago I was told that the car was supposed to be brought back Tuesday the warranty people communication emails text from the warranty from any that will indicate what you're saying is is true cuz what I'm getting on the system is the rental company saying something different I'm just trying to confirm what you're saying is is what is happening and maybe they just had an issue with their clerical stuff and and their their system while he seemed confident in his claims the repair shop had a different story according to them the warranty had expired a year ago and had already been updated months earlier charger there that's being repaired his charger is here and he's been told that this car need an engine and the warranty is not covering it he knows that we contacted him and he knows that I even sent an abandonment notice to him let him know his car is being charged storage for being abandoned here for the longest time okay and then did you guys uh try to contract rental for him or communicate with him about a rental no that's between him and his warranty we did not do that okay all right but you just tried to file a claim for the engine and they denied it yes they said his warranty is no longer his warranty has expired so that was a customer P to support his case the driver called the shop again and they confirmed that his personal vehicle had been abandoned there with a bad engine and an expired warranty following this confirmation he was arrested charged with theft by receiving stolen property and transported to Decalb County Jail while this liar thought he could turn the story around the next suspect had a knack for spinning her own dramatic performance when caught red-handed no I watched you put it in your bag no I not I do not I do not have it even look I don't have nothing in my listen to me I watched you steal from this establishment on July 14th 2022 officers were called to a CVS to meet with management about a woman caught on CCTV stealing items while responding they learned the suspect had returned to the store and was just about to leave again officers quickly located her nearby based on the description provided what what's your name it's your birthday they're wanting to Bar you from the store you just came CVS in her bag were two large bottles of laundry detergent clearly visible on the surveillance footage and despite the evidence in her bag piling up she spun creative lies you stole from this esta no yeah you did you sho with you from this place ear yeah twice yes it's on camera I I watch you I'll take this off your shoulder for you I bought this in here was I I bought this in here what I what I took I bought this in know I all I got in my what you do with all the stuff that you took I didn't take nothing okay listen to me I shoplifting incident at the same store she claimed she'd left the items behind however she led the manager to the wrong aisle ultimately realizing Escape was impossible she collapsed dramatically you didn't put it down here because you back up I not take theore and you eventually EMS was called to transport her to the hospital the suspect was later sentenced to 2 years of probation 23 days of confinement and mandatory participation in a recovery program in this next case a man directing traffic turned out to be far less official than he wanted officers to believe no I'm working as security guard so we do no you're a uniform marked as a police officer you're working as a police officer right now on April 8th 2021 in whiteall Ohio officers noticed a man in a reflective vest directing traffic this guy identified him as 26-year-old Casey Donovan Williams a former Pickaway County Corrections Deputy hi there so you're an actual Cleveland police officer no no I'm not with Cleveland PD I work for uh Cleveland Watchmen we're a security company that hires only off duty police officers to do traffic control for uh are you an off duty police officer yeah yeah so who are you with uh pickway Sheriff's Office pway yeah all right yeah so so you're you're out of they do Ohio and you're here working in Franklin County and whiteall as an off-duty police officer no I'm working at security so we do no you're uniform marked as a police officer you're working as a police officer right now with a car that has red and blue lights on it right I've got I've got some paperwork I can give to you from absolutely and I'll need to get your information I've been asked to come up for by my Deputy Chief and get that are you full-time over in pway I live in pway so so I left the Sheriff's office there I'm going to uh I was full-time there I left fulltime uh as a jail up there so you're not even a police officer uh currently I'm I'm well I'm storting a new commission yeah but what I'm saying is you're not even a police officer you're currently not a full-time or a part-time police officer anywhere Reserve okay where are you a Reserve officer at you have an ID from that Village not with me no not with you no so you don't have an ID you don't have a badge what's the badge you were displaying earlier sorry what's the badge you were displaying earlier what do you mean do you have a badge yes what was that badge you were playing earlier that's my old pickway one so you have a pway county badge but you don't work for them it's a previous one from there yeah all right you have that with you currently yeah it's a flex badge can I see that please yeah he claimed he was hired as an off-duty officer to manage traffic for nearby utility work but something didn't add up his badge for one looked well plastic that's when officers decided to call for backup whereas Casey tried to talk his way out of the situation by name dropping supposed military connections so the company the Company's trying to get you a reserve commission they already got one they already got one so the guy that owns the company he's in my unit for the for the guard um and then uh another guy that's in my unit is Chief of Police Sergeant proper let me um let me call John who is the Clans sword major in my unit he's also the okay those are all military people right yeah but he's he's the owner of this company when more officers arrived one of them immediately recognized him she was from the same Department that had fired Casey he worked for them he he worked for pwe what's his name he's got uh cassiey Casey Williams Willams oh yeah he's over there you know him yeah he was fired from pickway gu well he's he's displaying their badge out here uhoh that's a made badge that's not our badge we don't provide those and we don't approve those well sworn in by them I've talked to the chief no no I'm asking you a direct question have you been sworn in by them this very important you answer this correctly because being a former police officer or someday a current police officer you know if you lie in this situation you go directly to jail I'm going to put that right up so if you are telling me you are a police officer right now is that what you're telling me so you are not a commissioned police officer I have spoke with the chief that's what I'm asking you I'm asking you one
