Resisting an officer with violence is a thirdderee felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison, 5 years of probation, and a fine of up to $5,000. This charge applies when a person knowingly and willfully resists, obstructs, or opposes a law enforcement officer by using physical force or violence while the officer is lawfully performing their duties. In this case, once the woman runs, climbs a fence, engages in a physical struggle, and ultimately bites the officer, those actions clearly meet the standard for resisting an officer with violence. She's also charged with battery on a law enforcement officer under Florida Statute 784.07, which occurs when someone intentionally touches or strikes an officer against their will or causes bodily harm. This offense is classified as a first-degree felony carrying potential penalties of up to 30 years in prison, up to 30 years of probation, and fines of up to $10,000. These represent maximum penalties and are rarely imposed in full. Lastly, the woman is charged with petty theft under Florida statute 812. Joe4. This applies when a person knowingly and unlawfully takes or uses another person's property with the intent to temporarily or permanently deprive the owner and the value of the property falls below the felony threshold. Petty theft is a secondderee misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail, 6 months of probation, and a fine of up to $500. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. As always, share your honest thoughts on this case in the comments below, and I'll see you in the next video. Female bit me.
