Where's the vehicle? >> pull up here so somebody doesn't pull into this lane. >> Where's the vehicles at? Stop. I thought it was just him, but there's two cars. It sounded like they collided somewhere here. Yeah, that's what it sounded like. There was a weird noise. Okay. And then I heard him there, but once I get out here is when I noticed there was a second car. So, there's multiple, yeah. Okay. Yes. You tried to run away. Yes. Where did Where did I Wait, no. I ran? Yes. On March 19th, 2025, St. Petersburg Police received a call about a violent crash. What they were about to find was not an accident. It was the aftermath of a drunk man's obsession. That man was Kyle Hill, who had gotten into an argument with his ex-girlfriend, gotten behind the wheel intoxicated, and gone looking for her. When he spotted a Honda on the road that he assumed she was in, he started the chase, but it was the wrong car entirely. Eris Lenny Blanco Medina and her boyfriend Norbelis Figueredo Campos, a couple who had recently moved from Cuba to start a new life in Florida, had no connection to Hill whatsoever. He forced them off the road anyway, sending their car straight into a concrete pole that collapsed and crushed the vehicle on impact, killing Blanco Medina and leaving Figueredo Campos in critical condition. Hill then lost control of his own vehicle and hit a tree in the median, injuring himself in the very crash he had caused. >> to pull up here so somebody doesn't pull into this lane. Where's the vehicles at? Stop. Northbound needs to be shut down at 13. Southbound at 17. >> 74 74 Delta 18 1334 2977 977 77 2977 traffic here and we'll start getting the vehicles off the road. 22 Just the one car or what? Hey, how about you come down and slow down 34th? Where at? In the in the median uh There was rescue come down 34th? I thought it was just him, but there's two cars. It sounded like they collided somewhere here. That's what it sounded like. There was a weird noise. Okay. And then I heard him there. About 1 second after I heard the noise, I saw the second car. So, that's multiple, yeah. Okay. I can't see the second car. Did you see it when you came here? No, but it's down like 20 I can't understand what he's saying. Yeah, he's mumbling. He's saying All right. I need rescue over here, please. As first responders arrived, officers immediately moved to secure the perimeter, pushing back the growing crowd and stretching crime scene tape across the wreckage, all while pulling each other aside in the chaos to piece together exactly what had happened here. Comes out. Yeah. I have this one. That's fine. Watch out. Watch out. Watch out. Don't [ __ ] Don't [ __ ] with that. They're holding it. Yeah, yeah, I know. I know. We got him. Still alive, though. Our car is on fire. I want you to move it out of the Open the white and quiet. Pull over. >> Oh, it's seven person. I'm assuming he's got to be Yeah, cuz the old boy that was in there, he he's out. They already transferred him to San Antonio. I was I was We was alive when I first rolled up on him. Is he the only one? I don't know. That's the thing. Could be more. Oh, okay. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. I know he was But he's friend. Yeah. Yeah, they're they're they're having a business up there. Well, maybe maybe maybe he went to 07. Maybe. I don't know. No, you good. You good. Hold on, let me get her out. Hey, you got to go. You got to go. Come on. You got to go. This way. What did the dude look like? Asian guy? This guy? Yeah. Uh I couldn't see him. I could see he was like just like side of his face. Like dark skin. Yeah. All right. Somebody found a wallet and told my wife to come back to Latina Latina? Yeah, so I don't know. It's our passenger. Passenger fell out. Oh, passenger. So, not the guy you were talking to. Driver's I guess that's your guy. So, the guy in the Nissan apparently is now a trauma completely unresponsive to the hospital. Okay. So, they're trying to see if he's life threatening or not. He's He's already there. That's fine. I don't I'm just letting you know. I got But I you know now we have one and Priscilla's out of the hospital. He's going to call me back and let you know if he's alive or not or not but I figured I'd update somebody. Appreciate it. Cuz now it's just one baby too. A radial pulse on her. Among the chaos, two family members of the couple arrived at the scene frantic and desperately grabbing at officers for answers that nobody was ready to give yet. 9781 Bayfront 247 Is he okay? Yeah, my family. Yeah. So they're taking everybody to to Bayfront. Bayfront? Bayfront. Is he alive? We we we have no clue. We're not What I was saying was is go to Bayfront Hospital and ask them. Yeah, okay. >> Cuz they're all being transferred right now. Which side? How many I don't know. We're not We're not sure. We don't know. We don't know. So go to Bayfront Hospital. That's what it's That's where they transferred them. Okay, thank you. Thank you. Witnesses who had been nearby when it happened gave their accounts to officers on scene. Each one painting a clearer picture of just how violent and deliberate the chase had been. So where were you when the accident happened? Okay. I was driving southbound. You were southbound in the center lane. You were. Yes. I was the driver, southbound center lane right before 17th. Okay. Okay? Um I can I can picture in my mind that you're going to speak to the other man. He was in front of me. Okay. I was in the center lane and then I could we had the windows down. It was 7:50 7:55. I could hear the motors coming up behind me. Okay. I could hear them. So, with that I looked and I could see in my rearview mirror that vehicle was a Nissan SUV pulled over into the right lane as if to take out the car that was in that right lane. He actually went in to knock him like NASCAR. Okay. When he when he put his car on him that car hit the curb. You could hear the tire explode pop. Okay. And then the car jumped the curb and hit the light pole, the concrete light pole, right there at the bus stop and it went halfway up the light pole and exploded into pieces. The light pole did? Or the car? >> did. >> Okay. Exploded into a million pieces. You could You could hear it. It wasn't It wasn't a >> And you're seeing this in your rearview mirror? >> No, it was right alongside of me. So, I saw him coming up in my rearview mirror looking so he took this guy That guy went >> So, he was coming up behind you and then Yep. basically went right into Yes. >> Okay. But they were But they were both They were both at a high rate of speed. >> Okay. So, they were both coming up together. Okay? So, I must have been the reason why this guy was jerking over to >> tried to take him out. Okay. So, and and and he did and then once I saw that um I looked forward and I could see the tree go up in the air and that car flip. Okay. So, when that happened Just stand on this side of the yellow tape. We were way back there. When that when he finally came up here? We were way back That's why I wanted to stay to tell you. >> Okay. It happened back there. >> Yeah, yeah. So, so we we saw all that hit and then to give you a perfect example, once that happened, I made the left and turned into Sam's Club because I didn't even know what happened. Okay. And then what was neat was this tell tell this the gentleman will tell you what here, but when I was behind him, his top was down and we he was playing his jazz music Okay. and I was like, man, that's cool and so we were going up like that and then this happened. And then he'll tell you what he saw, but I I could see forward that that thing that tree shot up in the air and he hit. Okay. So, I I did a I I went into the parking lot, gathered myself, came over and and we pulled into the Take 5 thing to see to see what happened. I I I that car the it was at a hot so much of a high rate of speed that car I knew that guy was going to be dead. Okay. I mean, that's how hard that thing went and he went halfway the the the scattering of the stuff you could see it was like debris. Okay. Uh my wife always tells me stay in the middle lane and I was in the middle lane so it happened behind me and to the right of me. >> Okay. That was That was Okay. And he was behind you and then veered to the right. >> But he he went at that car. He he he went he was it was like he was using a a NASCAR move. And then because when he hit him, uh evidently that's what caused him to lose control and he skidded from there all the way across all the way across. So, where were you when the accident happened? When it was a squad car, I was in a meeting. I was literally right there. The The squad car that was up there? No, that was right here. Oh, that was right here? Yeah. >> [clears throat] >> What happened to that vehicle? I didn't see, but I heard. Okay. I heard a boom. So, when I heard the boom, I didn't know if it was a gunshot or Yeah. I boom, I saw this vehicle speeding up. So, I'm like, "Are they having a shootout?" So, I kind of I got a convertible. Yeah. My top was down, so I started like, "Woah, what the hell?" You know. Yeah. So, I stopped in the middle here, hit my my hazards as soon as I seen this truck lose control, and he was kind of sliding, like drifting. Okay. And it looked like his tires caught grip, and just took off right into the tree and flipped. Okay. So, you didn't see what happened >> I didn't see that part. I just heard that. Okay. Yeah. Any of you guys witness the accident? >> We did. You guys did? Yeah. What happened? Uh so, those two cars, they were racing or something. They were going like I think it was going like 80. 70 or 80. Like, they shook our car when they when they passed us. Which direction were they going? They were going this way. They were They were in the right hand lane, and they were in the like left and middle lane. Yeah. They were both in the middle lane and they were tailing each other. Um but um uh one of them, I'm not sure who, uh hit hit one of them from the side, and they got pushed into the I thought it was I thought it was that car ran this car right here off. That's That's what I would think made sense. I just didn't see it happen, but I saw one of I saw this car skirt to the side of the road for no reason, and hit that pole, and saw the pole collapse on it. So, before this one hits the this car right here, before that one hits the pole, it was struck by the other car that was traveling fast than it. >> I'm pretty sure because it just I didn't see the strike happen, but I saw this car go this way and that car go that way. >> Yeah, I like they veered off like really hard into this pole and smashed into it. >> either they were avoiding something or they hit each other. Okay. It swerved off their course. Did you see the accident? Uh all I'm going to say it is coming up. Oh, they both were sitting down at the at at the bridge. Go more properly from the speed they were going. It was like eight blocks. Two cars. Two cars already passed. 8:00. 8:00 in the air. I'm surprised that they get they were going so fast they passed on the second. And that's where it hit. That's all I can say. Okay. Appreciate it, sir. Thank you. They were they were going on that on the on that one too fast. That's what I saw that before they got out. Yeah. It was all in there. Two cars. I don't know what it was about, a chase, whatever. Were they side by side? One lane, two lane. No, they weren't tailing. They They were just side by They were side by side. Did it look like a race? Like they were racing maybe? Probably. Probably. I don't know. But it was just one too fast on the 22nd. I'm surprised it didn't happen on 22nd. Yeah. But they they blew through that. Yeah. And ended up here. It was all in there. Check the speed on this one on this thing. Yeah. So, then what happened? Which way were you driving? I was coming I was coming southbound. Okay. And we were coming from Big Lots and before I knew it, we just hear a beep. Ooh. Okay. So, we see my friend start swerving. I'm like, oh. Okay. So, I know I had to swerve into my this lane right here, the right lane. Yeah, into the right lane cuz I'm driving in the middle lane. >> Okay. So, I swerved into that lane. Before I knew it, just glass with the shattered something like that. Okay. She stopped. I'm like, I know that I didn't hit this. I'm like, uh before I knew it, I see the black SUV just fly past boom and you hear the engine just like >> Slide past you. Yeah, like they were like Okay. Yeah. Okay. So, when I heard and I see the white and my friend said, "White pool." And I swerved over here, they literally wrecked behind me. They to the point where they hit right here into this tree. >> Into the tree. And right there. Okay. So, by the time they hit there, I pulled it right here and turned around and called the police and somebody get help. Okay. Awesome. If we need We need the other car into the right. The first light is we see Okay. another car get hit and then I look. I'm like, it's just sitting right there. I ran. I'm like, oh my god, this man is not moving. I ran down there to see. I'm like, some other car got hit. They act like they were looking for something. >> Okay. We'll give you a call for anything. Hill was pulled from the wreckage and transported to the hospital, injured from the crash he himself had caused. While behind him, investigators were still picking through the debris of what he had left behind. Have a seat, man. I'm sitting down. Have a seat now. Have a seat now. I'm not going to warn you. I've asked you twice. I'm Sit down. Now. I'm sitting down. I'm okay. I don't need a neck brace. Put your hands behind your back. >> need a neck brace. Get on the board. Get on the board now. I don't need that. I promise you I'm not going to run I'm not going to run away. I'm not going to run. No, you're not running. I I I was running once. I was Wait, what? >> Yes. Yes. You tried to run away. yes. I did not I didn't run, though. Why is he saying I'm running? Because you ran. Just Just It's fine. >> Where did I run to? Exactly. No. Just relax. I don't know. I don't know. What happened? I don't know. You said I was running. Where Where did I run to? You said I I ran. Did I run? No. No, you're good. What the hell did Where did I run to? Why are you yelling Why are you saying that I ran? You just tried to walk off and people had to stop you from from leaving the park. That's what you said. In the end, Kyle Hill was charged with first-degree and attempted first-degree murder and ordered held without bond.
