12:28 a.m. on October 7 2023 officer Nicholas Windsor with the Del Beach Police Department observed a westbound 2020 as golf cart running through a red light signal at the intersection of the Atlantic Avenue and any Avenue a Northbound vehicle on the same road that was about to turn left westbound onto any sth Avenue had the green signal but the vehicle had to stop in order to Avo striking the golf cart based on this traffic infraction officer Windsor began pursuing the golf cart and observed the driver turn right Northbound onto any 6th Avenue while swerving back and forth the travel Lane a mark FD bicycle travel Lane he activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop and the golf cart pulled into the parking blot of 115 in6 A near the Anthony's cold Fired Pizza and Wings restaurant I am all right is the golf cart registered to you yes all right you know why you got pulled over um no at 7th did you not know you had a red light on 7th yeah did you see the car got turn in front of you when it was making it left you didn't see that car at all I did not I was not aware sorry okay all right you had you had a solid road all the way he like he was already coming out into the lane to make a turn left okay do westbound so that's why I pulled you over okay understood all right where are you heading to my helmet all right is everything good for your license no one pay any of them I guess maybe it was like within 6 months sure all right good that makes sense because uh at the end of the day um when you cancel insurance and get a new company or something that you it still come falls back onto the owner's responsibility make sure DMV knows that they have insurance what happens is usually your old Insurance the the big ones are usually good but the old insurance will say they're cancelled but the new company won't notify the DMV and now they think they have a tag that's out with no insurance on it um so that that's probably what is going on with that all right okay um my second concern out of it is you didn't see a red light I did not yeah okay where are you heading to okay where are you guys coming from tonight um we were coming from uh Hideaway delare Hideway okay the one uh across the bridge yeah across the bridge Y and we just came over this bridge and then we were headed home like almost there all right do you have any medical conditions drink was probably 900 p.m. okay so we had how many in like 5 hours four four Okay Okay the reason I asked I could smell an odor of unknown alcoholic beverage I know we have some open containers yeah sure we you have a couple there there's like a then not seeing the red light or other car your eyes are R and they got glossy appearance so that's why I'm asking to make sure everybody's safe on the roadway all right I do understand um do you have any problems with your eyes that aren't corrected by glasses I do have glasses but they're not are you required to have them on no all right I do have do you have any problems with the eyes that the glasses won't correct okay um have you been in an accident today no doctor dentist today no officer Windsor made contact with the operator of the golf cart who was identified as Lauren Lauren was also transporting to female passengers and one male passenger on the golf cart as he made contact with Lauren he detected the odor of alcohol and observed an open container of High Noon alcoholic Seltzer in the driver cup holder Lauren's eyes were red and glossy and Her speech was slurred Lauren admitted to consuming alcohol prior to operating the golf cart diabetic no take insulin no no okay all right this is where I like to do I understand yeah I like to request you perform roadside tasks just to dispel any suspicion that I had that you're driving on influence tonight all right um are you willing to perform the roadside task sure okay all right just go ahead and step off and come back over here all right just stand right here and I'll kill the received the bump on the head recently right actually last weekend I did did you suffer any medical like treatment or anything like that for it no but I did have a concussion on my head here on the asked Lauren for her documentation and returned to his patrol car to run her license a check of her records indicated that her license was suspended officer Stickley Mitchell and swillie would also arrive on scene around this time to assist officer Windsor based on his suspicion of impairment officer Windsor asked Lauren to perform field sobriety exercises and Lauren agreed to do so he started with the horizontal gaze nystagmus hgn test followed the byw walk and turn test one leg stand test and modified Romberg balance test Vision in my right eye CU that was just last weekend you feel any effects of it now no okay I feel okay now all right thank you just all I need you to do we're going to put our feet together like this all right so you're going to put your feet together and you're going to put your arms down by your side and you're going to look straight ahead at me okay sure um what I'm going to do I'm going to show you a light I'm going move that light left and right and up you mind if we do it away from the lights up here I'm but I'm going to be putting flashlight flashlight up to see your eyes maybe because this is like um brighten my left eye do you mind if you do it and her inability to satisfactorily perform the field sobriety exercises officer Windsor placed Lauren under the arrest for driving Under the Influence put your arm straight out shoulder length Y and then shoulder height and just uh keep your eyes cled okay got it don't and put your hands on your back all right I'm going to place you under arrest for driving under an influence tonight I'm going to transport you to West Palm Beach just a request of bre sample to determine alcohol content hey hey hey guys okay please my house is literally less than a mile from I understand that but at the end of at the end of the day please my my house is' less than a mile from here not debatable okay what was what was the reason what's the reason here please because I feel you're over the limit alcohol please what is the reason please that is the reason you're driving under an influence of can you please with within half a mile my husband can come pick us up right now with my car please my husband totally understand 12 miles hour it doesn't matter you're on a golf cart do you have anything on you you're not supposed to have no I do not can you can you please can you please call my husband is you I mean we all are ubering we're we've only G we're not ubering I am ubering we well you you you getting a ride from her she we were going. 3 miles away yeah two stop signs then we happened to get stopped so no it was a red light is where she ran the car almost struck the left side of this cuz they were going they had a green light cuz they were making a left Tel on a green okay that's and she just drove right through the red light I didn't see that um are you able to figure out I can take care of the okay okay but we don't want to leave Len this is kind of she's going to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's uh breath testing center is where she's going now all right it's 8 hours from time of arrest so she's looking at like 9:00 a.m. sorry is there anything we can do to make this better I don't think she's she made a bad decision and she's Tech and she's responsible for all three of you guys getting you guys home safe you guys made the right decision not to drive yeah but I would have trusted her with my life even well she almost took your life tonight yeah okay that's fair this could have been it could have been worse those told listen I am of faith and I know of all the situations that can be and I can tell you right now she was so to drive after she was placed under arrest she was first transported to the PBS soat and she agreed to submit breath samples her to breath samples revealed a back level of 0.21% and 0.24% which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08% she's over to of course I so over the limit with one drink I get that she has her purse yeah I have the wallet she has the huh yeah I have her phone too I have her phone her wallet should be able to call she'll be able to call and she has a form of payment in her wallet I get it okay get it so I'm going to hit up there um there's a million people that are way more drunk than this like it's sad for watch e e e e e e e e e e e e after submitting breath samples Lauren was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 5:27 a.m. and charged with driving Under the Influence 316.193 failure to stop at a steady red signal 316.075 failure to drive within single Lane 316.089 unknowingly operating while suspended 322.34 and open container 3161 1936 later that day Lauren was released at 927 a.m. pending her court appearance for
