What should have been a birthday celebration at a Chuck E. Cheese quickly turned into a police investigation after a fight broke out between two groups of adults in front of families and children. With everyone claiming they were the victim, officers had to rely on video evidence to figure out who actually started the chaos. >> I called the police. >> What's going on? >> Um several females inside got into a huge altercation, kids were screaming, cussing, went behind the um where the employees work. One woman claimed she was punched without warning, while another insisted she was only defending her family after being confronted. >> And you need to get this gentleman in the white shirt cuz he put his hands on me. >> we're >> I'm trying to figure out I'm just trying to gather everybody that was involved. And then I come in and then her All I seen was the woman with the orange hair. Her mouth was wrapped up to her nipple. And then my mom said talk to her like that. And she My mom was holding the ground and stuff and helping her take her stuff out of the car. So, then like my mom had a paper and she was talking with the >> Is that your mom? Yeah, that's my mom. She was talking with the paper and then she snatched the paper out of her hand and threw it back at her. >> She threw the paper at her? >> She threw the party hat back at her. I'm trying to get her off my daughter to get her off to get her off. And then somebody was trying to get my sister from behind me, that's when I pulled her off. Then I see my sister turn around, and I was like, "Hold on, wait a minute. I'm in the middle." >> Okay. The investigation became even more complicated as multiple people reported bite marks, scratches, and injuries. With several participants claiming self-defense, officers shifted their focus from statements to the available video footage. >> All right, so in the video you're kind of like in the mix in the middle of all this stuff or whatever the case is. I see you getting kind of jumped on. >> Yeah. >> Um I'm going to talk to everybody else and get their sides as well individually. Are you Are you wanting to pursue any charges or do you want to do anything with them? >> It It honestly depends. They could say they want to press charges on you, too, and and then um >> I mean, I feel like it was a big misunderstanding. Cuz like that, we don't know them. Officers explained that the decision could quickly change if others involved decided they wanted to move forward with criminal complaints. >> She said no. She said no. It don't matter. Like I explained to you. >> Excuse me. >> The lieutenant's in there getting more video to find out who the primary aggressor was. >> Okay. >> After reviewing statements and video evidence, officers moved forward with battery charges against those involved in the fight. However, the charges were later dropped, bringing an end to an incident that started as a child's birthday party, but quickly became a public confrontation requiring a full police investigation.
