On February 19th, 2023, a deputy noticed a car with heavily tinted windows parked outside a Wawa. After running the tag, he discovered the registered owner's license was suspended. But when he approached the vehicle, things didn't go as expected. Instead of cooperating, the young driver decided to play a risky game of lies and excuses. What happened next shows exactly why that's never a good idea. Hey, are you the registered owner? >> Yeah. >> Do you have your driver's license? >> Do you have your driver's license? >> Is anyone else here with you? >> Yeah. >> Are you waiting for him? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Can I have your driver's license, please? >> For what? >> Yeah, I'm not driving. >> Who's driving? >> My boyfriend. I'm just sitting here. >> He has a valid license. Yeah. What's his name? >> What? >> What's What's I need his full name, man. >> Hey, Jada. >> I need your ID. I'm investigating the tint on your car. She said now she's investing. I bought the car late. >> Okay, let me have your ID. >> I don't know. >> Jada, are you going to give me your ID? >> Huh? >> Wait, what did I do? >> I'm investigating the tent on your car. >> Okay. You have the same thing? >> I do. >> Yeah. Yeah. I'm 104. Can I have a routine 44? He's being uncooperative. We're at the Waw Wa. Is he coming outside? >> Okay. Can I have your ID, please, ma'am? Hey, let me tell you what's going on. So, I was sitting in my car waiting on another car and uh this girl comes out putting her stuff in the car, looking at me like a million times. So, I run the tag. She's suspended. Okay. I see the tint's dark. Uh she's sitting here a long time. It appeared to me she's waiting for me to leave because she knows she's suspended. Um I know the car didn't magically arrive at this location. I approached her. I asked for her license. She Why? Why? I said, "Hey, your license is suspended." "Oh, I'm" She was sitting in a driver's seat. I'm not driving the car. Like, all right, let me have your ID and she rolls up the window and uh knock. She rolls I say, "Hey, I'm I'm doing a tint investigation." And who's driving the car? Oh, my boyfriend. Well, where is he? She closes the window. She says she's on the phone with her boyfriend. Tells me he's in the bathroom. That was quite some time ago. She moved over to the passenger side. And I mean, now I have resistance, but this is where I'm at. I'm giving this boyfriend's not coming from the bathroom, obviously. >> Yeah. >> You can't see through the car at all. It's really dark. Is she Which seat is she in? >> Hey, Jada, I need you to open the door and talk to me. >> You need to step outside the vehicle and talk to me. >> What happened? >> I'm literally sitting in my car. I don't know. >> Okay. I need you to cooperate right now. You're resisting. >> I'm trying to understand what the what I do. >> Yeah. Come outside. I'm stopping your car. It has illegal tint, which is a non-moving violation. >> I bought the car like this. >> Get out of the car right now. Where's your boyfriend at? >> He's literally coming. He's in the bathroom. >> Okay, we'll go get him from the bathroom. Okay. What's his name? >> What's his name? >> I don't know why she >> What's his name? Step to the back of the vehicle. >> What's his name? Just Can you go in the Ben's bathroom and see if there is a male there? Thank you. >> Why don't you want to give me your ID, Jada? >> I'm literally Cuz I'm not driving. I don't have it on me. I'm sitting in the car. Like I'm being so I don't know why you're starting stuff with me. I'm just >> No problem. Is your boyfriend in the bathroom? >> He's inside. >> Okay. So, the deputy will be able to find him. >> How come he hasn't come out? >> He's pooping. >> He's what? >> He's pooping. All right, Jada. He's not inside. I'm give you one more opportunity to present me with your ID. All right. You are being detained. You're not. >> Look, he's coming. I get off your phone. >> Oh my god. He's literally in there. >> Just let him go. >> Okay. Can I go grab him? >> Where? cuz I just wanted literally I'm not driving. >> Okay, thank you. >> What the >> Is there a reason I'm being arrested? >> You're being detained right now. >> Why am I being detained? >> I'm literally when I'm cooperative. You are resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> I'm trying to find out who drove this car here. >> I know. That's why I'm trying to get him to come out. >> Well, he's not in the bathroom. >> He probably came out. I don't know where he is. That's why I'm trying to go grab him. >> Give him a call. I'm going to uh search you, pat you down for weapons. Paste the car. I'm going to pat you down for weapons. Do you have anything on you? >> Is there anything in the car you don't want us to find? All right. You're going to have a seat in the car. >> Do you call out that I have one secured? 223. >> All right, I'm going to call supervisor. >> Thank you. >> Brought your son over here. >> Uhhuh. >> Um, where were you? Where were you guys? Where were you with your son? >> We live down there. >> Okay. So, he was Jada coming to your guys' house? >> Uh-huh. >> Okay. Um, and is that the car she normally drives? Do you mind writing on a statement just saying what you just told me? >> Like why? I mean, I don't want to help her get into more trouble. >> Yeah. I mean, just she drove the car here and her license is suspended and the trouble started when she um started lying on the investigation. >> Okay. >> So, and she brought your son into it um saying that your son was driving the car. >> Okay. So, um, >> is that is that the son over there? >> Yeah, the one uh he's not there right now. It's the one. He just came out of Walmart. >> Okay, ma'am. I'm going to ask you to just wait here. Yeah. >> Which one's the Who's dating her? You're You're the boyfriend. Hey, my name's Deputy America. You were on the phone with Jada when I was doing the chopping song. So, why wouldn't she just give me her ID? >> I don't know. I think she's just scared. I think she's scared. >> Is there something in the car that shouldn't be in the car? >> I think I I literally think she was scared. cuz it's none of this would have been a big deal. But she was uncooperative and lied a lot, which is resisting. Okay. So, that's that's where I'm at now. That's the big issue. Um, she said that you were inside the store. We checked the whole store. We checked cameras for you to be inside the store. She said you were in the bathroom pooping. Um, my partner went inside the bathroom and checked the bathroom. Um, it like none of this would have been that big a deal, but she gave us a lot of gave me a lot of false information and was resisting throughout my investigation. So, um, I take it you were not you did not drive the car here. >> Um, no, you didn't. >> No, I didn't. >> Okay. And does so does she normally drive the car? >> Um I mean it's her car. >> It's her car. Did you know her license was suspended? >> No. >> Okay. All right. What? >> Okay. How did you get here today? >> You are under arrest for resisting. I was going to give you a criminal citation for driving without a license. And I was going to >> be honest, I thought that since I paid my ticket cuz they said if I paid my ticket that like that was um keeping my license suspended so that I paid it and now I'm confused. >> Do you have your license on you? Did they give you your license back? >> I have a photo of it, but I don't >> You don't have the physical license? Okay. No, >> actually they didn't take that, but I lost it. >> Okay. All right. So, >> I have a regular ID for >> Okay. I >> Okay. So, you are being arrested for resisting and then because you have the other charge um which I was just going to give you the criminal citation in the court date, you are going to be charged with that. >> No, at this point I can't do that. No, ma'am. Um, >> I think it's just like when you came up I was more so not like trying to be disrespectful, but it's like I'm confused, you know, like as to what I did cuz like you came up and bang and I'm like I don't know what I did. >> I knocked on the window. I'm not an aggressive person and I told you I was going to conduct a tinted investigation and you repeatedly said to me >> for ID and I don't I physically don't have my ID. >> You could have said that. So, I'd like you to step out of the car. I'm going to put you in my vehicle. Thank you. >> Okay, no problem. >> All right, I'm going to take you over my car. I'm going to do a proper search of you. Was there something in the vehicle you didn't want us to find? All right, I am going to just open the door. Please don't get in it. And no, don't get in. Just face the flag. Okay. >> Okay. >> Do you live alone? Do you live with your parents? >> Yeah, my dad. >> Okay. All right. Um, have a seat in the car. Do you want to take the bonnet with you? They're not going to let you wear it at jail. Or I could give it to the boyfriend. >> Just take it. >> Okay. >> All right. Have a seat. >> Watch your foot. >> In the end, the 18-year-old was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license and resisting an officer.
