I came over here and they were fighting. Say again? My lipstick's messed up. No, it's fine. I'm not sure. Where did the other lady go? She's in the back. She's in the back? Okay. On January 14th, 2025, Orlando police were dispatched to the Frontier Airlines counter at Orlando International Airport. A refund dispute escalated into a physical assault leaving a 67-year-old employee bleeding on the floor. A 282-year-old passenger now faces a felony charge. Officers arrived to find the suspect, Ansar El Mohammad, already separated from the victim. El Mohammad insists she was attacked first and claims to have recorded everything. The victim, a 67-year-old airline employee, is behind the counter bleeding from her face. Stop. Stop. Over here. Everyone attacked me. Can I have a 45 to the A side towards the Frontier exit? All right. Give me 1 second. Will you just Lay that Lay that down. Yeah, just lay down right Drop your jacket. No, drop your jacket. Whatever video you have I have a 20-minute video. It's okay. You breached. Breached and you came over. You attacked her. Just give us a minute, okay? Do you have ID and everything on you? Give us a moment. Do you have ID and everything on you? Yeah. Okay. Where's your ID? It's in my purse. Okay. Do I have your permission to go in your purse and grab your ID? Can I just get it? It's right here on the top. It's right here on the top? Yeah. Okay. Give me just a minute. I'm going to get another officer here and we'll go through it all, okay? Okay. Are you injured at all? Yeah, she put her hands on me. Okay. Do you need an ambulance? No, but I don't know if I should just and I have I have they're doing doing this because I asked for a voucher. Because they made me miss my flight. All my stuff is on the flight. I have a 20-minute video of how they executed me. Okay. All I did was go back there and press this space bar on the computer. That's highly illegal. They might be able to trespass me, but that's it. Do you have any injuries? She hit me first. I have it all on camera. I understand. I'm trying to ask if you need paramedics here. Oh, no. No? Okay. If I'm going into jail because she's pressing charges, can I press charges too because she put her hands on me first and I have evidence? Yeah, we'll go through everything, okay? Okay. How's it going? Good, sir. How are you? So, haven't investigated anything yet. I came over here and they were fighting. Say again? My lipstick's messed up. No, it's fine. I'm not sure. Where did the other lady go? She's in the back. She's in the back? Okay. They were fighting rolling around on the ground before we got here. I wasn't rolling around. You want to speak with the other? I can take you back to her if you want. Yeah, cameras up here, right? Yes. Okay. How How long ago did this occur? My shift. It just happened. Are you okay, young lady? Ma'am, MA'AM, JUST CALM DOWN. >> [laughter] >> I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW. AND YOU'RE GOING TO PRESS CHARGES. Come on, mommy. Come on. Relax. You're speaking Just relax, relax, mommy, okay? Just relax. I'll wait till she calms down a little bit before I ask This is our witness who was standing in the line. Are you a passenger or you employee? >> Passenger. Okay. Can Can we use this phone? Can you tell me what you witnessed? Sure. So, I didn't see the girl when I first walked up, but I was standing like at the very front of the line. And then I heard, I don't know if it was her or the other ticket agent telling her, "Ma'am, you can't be there. You have to move." And then like that woman there was was walking up to her and the girl just like kind of came over the counter at her and the swinging started and honestly I can't tell you who swung first. I'm sure there's video. So, I don't want to give any misleading information, but then like she got her by the hair and they went down. Who got Who got the hair? The young girl got the employee by the hair and she like had her and took her down by like the head. And I jumped in because I was like, "Holy You're on a conveyor belt." And I've actually I'm I'm a flight nurse. I've actually seen people lose their hands on these things. I was like, "Oh my god, they have to get off the conveyor belt." And before like I could get up there, um the gentleman here kind of got in and was trying to get her off of her, but she still had her by the hair. So, I kind of jumped in and then got her fingers out of her hair and once they were separated I got out. >> [laughter] >> Like I got to go. This was occurring behind the counter? Behind the counter. And you say that on the uh belt? On the belt, yeah. Super dangerous. You say that you don't know who threw the first punch if a punch was thrown? >> see the first swing, but the girl was definitely behind the counter when it all started. Like she was back there in the drawer or doing something back there and the woman was telling her like "You can't be back here. Leave that alone. Get on the other side." And I didn't hear what the young girl said back to her, but then by the time she got up there, you know, I was like, "Maybe I should another place." So, that's why I didn't see like the initial like who swung cuz my first reaction was like get out of here before the fight happens. But then the fight happened and I'm like, "Oh, someone's really going to get hurt on that conveyor belt." Okay. What time is your flight leave? Uh my flight leaves I boarding starts at 6:16. And the flight leaves at 7:00. Okay. Do you think you have time to fill out a statement form for me? Sure. Okay. Yeah, cuz the one of the gentlemen out there said that he would walk me through security if it got close. Okay. If If you can and when you want to, tell me what you witnessed. Tell me what happened up there, okay? Yeah. She came over to 3:00 a.m. which is rebooking She missed the flight and my job is to rebook her. Now, when [snorts] you say she, are you speaking of the young female that the officers is with down there? Okay. Go ahead. So, um I started to tell her that being that she's late and the only thing that I could do is rebook her for the next flight. Okay. business class. But she was there on time. Okay. And then I went to my screen to book her for the next available flight. She's videotaping me. And she went on rambling rambling like that she was not late. Okay. Um and then she started videotaping me. And I went to my supervisor. You need to talk to her. She's late. She doesn't believe that she was um late for the flight. I'm trying to rebook her. [clears throat] She's giving a whole lot of bunch of attitude. She's taking videotaping me and you need to get You need to come over. Okay. He came over. She's still on the phone in her hand and the supervisor told her, "Well, are you videotaping me?" She said, "Yes." "Well, when you're done, you let me know." So, he went that way. I can tell her to go into a break. So, I tell her to go into the lady's room. Get out of here. Get out of Came back home. She was still at my counter. I did not stop. Mhm. I went towards my super my super Take Just take your time. Take your time. What are we doing? She's still there. She's still recording. As I'm talking to her Okay, I think I got a shout out. I heard she She told my alert to me that she jumped the fence. She jumped over. Mhm. And And then when I turned, she was there and she had her camera on her screen which you That's not for the public to see. So, by this time she's behind the counter. >> Oh, yes. Totally behind the counter. Okay. And I ran to her. "No, you can't do that. You cannot jump over. You got to go to the other side. You cannot take pictures of what we got. You cannot." That's when As I grabbed her and tried to pull her on the other side, that's when she turned around. She slapped me, but I slapped her back. That's when we got into it. And then everybody came over. She had I think she has some She cut me there with her I got her ring. I don't know. Okay. I mean, I didn't see any weapon. Okay. So, she just We just went at it. Now, just Just prior to her slapping you what led up to that? What happened? Uh that I tried putting her on the other side which is my desk. She's not supposed to jump over. Now, when you say tried putting her to the other side, explain to me what you did. Well, I have to grab her cuz she wasn't going to go uh >> Okay. willingly. I had to grab her and push her to go to the other side. I mean, she didn't follow or anything. >> Okay. She didn't give a chance to fight cuz she immediately turned around and stopped me. Okay. And this did this occur right where they have her right now in the area behind Yeah, my counter. >> Okay. All right. The additional service counter. When the supervisor told you to take a break, how long would you say it was before you came back to the ticket I didn't take a break. I just went to the ladies room for a simple lunch break for only 20 minutes. I didn't do anything I just went went back out again. Okay. And she was still standing there and I didn't want to deal with her because she already I already spoke to the supervisor and I need him to come back and deal with it. Cuz when when it gets like that we're not supposed to deal with it. They deal with it. So I stood back. Did did he say why he left? Because he asked her, "Are you still video taping?" She said, "Yes." And then he said to her, "Well, when you're done video taping, you let me know." So he went cuz I think he had somebody else, I'm not too sure. I think he had somebody else. And he went to his station and I when when I came to from the ladies room Yeah. That was That was before the slap. Um I'm getting mixed up. Oh, just take your time. Take your time. Um then he told her, "You when you're done let me know." So he walked. And then he told me, "If you need to take a break, just go and take a break." Okay. And I did. That's when I came back went back to him to see what we were going to do with her. Okay. And that's when the guy my coworker was just standing here was the one who looked cuz my back was towards her looking at my supervisor. And she said, "Hey! Get out! You you can't be on that side." And I turned. She was on our side and she has she was like this with the phone on the on our sis on our screen. Said, "You can't do that. You can't do You can't You cannot come over. You cannot take pictures of that." So when I got to her that's when I grabbed her and I try pushing her to the other side and that's when she turned around. We're going to have somebody come and just check you out, okay? Um that's what I um I said she turned and she slapped me and I slapped you back. Okay. Now, prior to you coming in contact with her, the injuries to your face, did you have those injuries? No. No. I I haven't even looked at my face. I know it hurts and Okay. Okay. The paramedics are here right now. Once they check you out, then I'll ask you some more questions, okay? You hurt or anything? Scratches or anything? You want to go to the hospital? She says she's complaining about her right shoulder also. Feel like this? Just like that. Feel like this like a like a wing like you're flying? Yeah. How about straight out in front of you? Yeah. El Mohammad makes several damaging admissions in these early moments. She claims self-defense while simultaneously acknowledging she crossed behind the airline counter. Under Florida statute section 810.08, entering a restricted area without authorization constitutes trespass. Her own words place her inside that restricted space. While the victim bleeds nearby, El Mohammad's only concern is whether her lipstick is intact. Legally inconsequential but revealing. What matters is Florida statute section 784.08. Battery on a person 65 or older elevates the charge from a misdemeanor to a third-degree felony carrying up to 5 years in prison. The victim is 67. Officers interview an independent witness, a flight nurse who was standing in line. She didn't see the first strike, but she saw what followed. El Mohammad grabbed the employee by the hair and pulled her onto the baggage conveyor belt. As a medical professional, she immediately intervened. She treated patients who lost limbs to these machines. The conveyor belt location matters. This is active machinery. The witness, a trained flight nurse, recognized the danger instantly. El Mohammad didn't just strike the victim. She dragged a 67-year-old woman onto moving industrial equipment. The employee's account reveals a clear escalation. El Mohammad missed her flight, disputed it, began filming staff, and grew combative. The supervisor was called. He told her to stop recording and stepped away. The employee took a break. When she returned, El Mohammad was still there and had crossed behind the counter, phone aimed at the airline's internal screen. The employee attempted to physically guide El Mohammad back over the counter. El Mohammad struck her. The employee struck back. A full fight ensued ending on the baggage conveyor belt. The employee's admission that she struck back is honest, but legally, El Mohammad was the trespasser. She was the initial aggressor. El Mohammad doesn't deny crossing the counter. She argues pressing a spacebar isn't illegal. That's irrelevant. Under Florida statute section 810.08, the trespass is the crime, not what she did once inside. She was told to leave. She stayed. That satisfies the statute. El Mohammad frames this as self-defense. Florida law is clear. Under statute section 776.041, a person who initially provokes the use of force cannot claim self-defense unless they first withdraw. El Mohammad was the trespasser in the employee's workspace. She had no lawful basis to be there. Her self-defense claim faces an extremely narrow legal foundation. El Mohammad then volunteers unprompted that she is, in her own words, a little bit tipsy. Voluntary intoxication is not a defense under Florida law, but it does help explain the escalating judgment failures. Crossing the counter, accessing private equipment, refusing to leave, initiating a physical confrontation. We have to take her to Make sure if they're getting a statement from them we keep working the line, okay? If he's >> And make sure if anything that her statement goes against my video, that you guys know that you have to drop the charge. And he needs to move her first to my lawyer. We I have my own footage. So sorry, you're denying my evidence or you guys going to check mine, too? You got your own footage? Yeah. You're recording with your phone? >> Yeah. Where's your phone? Right there. You're recording on your phone while the incident occurred? >> telling everyone on that and it's all been on footage this whole time. It's still recording. Where's your phone? Right in there. Right in there. Inside the green bag or the silver bag? >> the silver bag. I have the footage. That's my footage. Right there. You don't mind if I look? I do not mind if you look, but I would like to pull up the video and look my own phone. You're in handcuffs, so we're not going to unlock you, so >> could be right here. Everyone could be able to see it and reach the phone, take it from me whenever you want to. I'm in handcuffs, by the way. Yeah, what's your uh It's right here. I'd say it was a lot of trouble. We could see what happened. You're recording? There you go. Entire video. Okay, and as I'm going to tell you I'm going to tell you again, I didn't not miss my flight. I was here on time. I bought business class, which is 147 on top of the Frontier class, which means I have two bags. I sit in the front and I get to board early, right? They told me that they could not bring that up on me. And once it got rung up, they said, "Oh, well, you're late now." Okay, well, I was not late when you could not bring up my stuff. So now I need to get another flight. You cannot make charge me for another flight and try to make me have a flight tomorrow and not give me a voucher. That is completely illegal. I I I I paid for and have my flight. You understand that, right? And I continue Continue to say what? Continue to say what I have to say what I have in front of Okay, but what about the voucher? There is number one, there is no voucher when you miss your flight. Number two, Okay, I did not miss my flight. I was here on time. Do you know what miss Do you know the definition of miss? That's when she said That's when she was like, "Yeah, I'm I'm going to pull my power and I'm not going to give you this flight." You can zoom. I still do not trust Southwest. to the flight. So they wouldn't let me on my flight. They said I didn't have any business there, but I didn't know. I'll come back when you're done. Let me know when you're not recording. And he left, too. That's the manager right there, by the way, the one that said he has the evidence of like her of her me attacking her, by the way. Yeah. Yeah. Said you could take your break right now. While I'm in the middle there's people in line and every He didn't want to help me he's cuz my attitude was too much for customer service. And then I went behind the thing after waiting 10 more minutes. And then attacked me and I hit her back. The And I'm about to go to jail cuz I defended myself. That's crazy. But it's okay. I got the video. I got lawyers. Nobody has the permission to delete that video off my phone either. No, nobody's going to delete. Okay. A long time. A long time. Just being hella disrespectful to me. Like this No, guys. You threw it. I tried. I tried. As a human being, I'm also a little bit tipsy, TOO. EXCUSE ME. EXCUSE ME. GET OUT. GET OUT. PUT YOUR HANDS ON ME. SO WE WE just hear the commotion, but we can't see what happened. >> that camera you can see it. That camera look up like they went to view that footage. You don't see the camera. It's either one of those. >> wanted my footage viewed because I have evidence of them just like blatantly disrespecting me. Me being disrespectful, too, but I'm the customer, you feel me? I'm I'm obviously out rate. I missed my flight. I'm I like you have experience of years of being able to deal with this. I should not have to go to jail cuz somebody put their hands on me. I'm defending myself. So view her footage. She has footage, too. So Oh, yes, she is. Yeah. I know she was behind the counter. She won't take her right to jail. I'll tell you that. Felony charges. I don't have phone in my pocket. Get out. Is this the person that lives here, 407? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. That's my boyfriend. That's my boyfriend. Otto. His >> Otto? Yeah, Otto. Otto? Yeah, Otto. Hey, do you live in Orlando? Yeah. Okay. Your girlfriend, she's under arrest. This is the Orlando Police Department. She wants to know if you can come here to pick up her belongings. Yeah. Okay, how far away are you? Hold on. I'm I'm not in my car right now. Let me Let me Let me see. Where are you at right now? I'm going to be so stupid. >> Okay. Hey, what did she get arrested What did she get arrested FOR? >> BECAUSE THE LADY TRIED ME. OKAY. >> BATTERY OKAY. All right. All right. All right. I'm I'm I'm leaving Kissimmee now. I'm on the way over there. Okay. So, when you get here, you're going to come to the Orlando Police Department office here inside the airport. All right. Okay. Okay. All right. Well, what do you need? All right. Well, they said they said that they said they were going to give me a bill. All right. Sit right there. I need your feet in turn to the side. I'm booking you in, okay? Can I put these up here now? You can put them wherever you can. And then like can you like Put them up here? No. Nope. Please sit behind you, okay? Officers handled the post-arrest phase cleanly. They call El Mohammad's boyfriend to retrieve her belongings. They obtain consent before searching her bag. They remain professional despite sustained provocation. This is exactly what de-escalation looks like in practice. The footage of the victim is hard to watch. A 67-year-old woman bleeding, consoled by family while paramedics attend to her. Officers give her time before taking a formal statement, a small but important decision that protects both the victim's dignity and the quality of the investigation. El Mohammad is transported without further incident. One charge, felony battery on a person 65 years of age or older, no bond. This incident offers several lessons starting with the one most people miss. The moment El Mohammad crossed behind that counter, the dispute stopped being about a missed flight. It became a criminal matter. Boundaries, physical and legal, exist for a reason. Customer service disputes are frustrating. But recording staff, demanding supervisors, and raising your voice are all legal. Crossing a restricted barrier is not. El Mohammad had every legitimate option available to her and chose the one that resulted in a felony charge. For the airline employee, physical removal of a trespasser is legally defensible, but in practice, it created a situation she could not safely manage alone. Waiting for security or law enforcement before making physical contact would have been the sounder call and would have kept her off that conveyor belt. Florida's elder battery enhancement is not widely understood by the public. Striking someone over 65 is not misdemeanor battery. It is a felony. The age of the victim changes the charge, the penalties, and the trajectory of the case automatically by statute. Finally, anything said to police before invoking your right to remain silent can and will be used in court. El Mohammad admitted to trespassing, admitted to striking the employee, and admitted to being intoxicated all without being asked directly. The Fifth Amendment exists for exactly this scenario.
