June 15th, 2026 Toledo, Ohio Just after midnight, what appears to be a routine traffic stop suddenly spirals into chaos. Toledo police locate a stolen Kia near South Avenue and Broadway Street. But instead of pulling over, the driver slams on the gas and disappears into the darkness. Behind the wheel is 20-year-old Keon Swatek, and he's not alone. Inside the stolen car are two juveniles. Within seconds, officers are thrust into a dangerous pursuit racing onto Interstate 75. Speeds explode past 100 miles an hour as police are forced to make split-second decisions balancing the need to stop a fleeing suspect against the risk posed to everyone on the road. But the chase is heading toward disaster. In less than 10 minutes, one reckless decision after another will push this pursuit to its breaking point and end with a violent metal-twisting rollover that sends the stolen car flipping across the median and into oncoming lanes. This is the story of the Toledo I-75 pursuit. >> I There's something about the calmness in which he is The calmness in which he pulls himself from the fire is so difficult >> Stevens and Orchard coming up to Broadway. Authorities say Keion Swatek chose to flee at more than 100 miles an hour with two juveniles riding beside him, turning Interstate 75 into a deadly crash scene in the making. Miraculously, everyone survived with non-life-threatening injuries. Now, Swatek faces serious felony charges and the possibility of up to 4 and 1/2 years behind bars for fleeing police, possessing a stolen vehicle, and placing children in danger. Meanwhile, the juvenile male passenger was booked into the juvenile detention center, where he faces charges including receiving stolen property, escape, falsification, and violating a court order tied to an active warrant. Authorities have also issued an arrest warrant for the juvenile female passenger on a charge of falsification. One reckless decision, one overturned car, and countless lives that could have changed forever.
