All right. Base Boulevard 519. >> Hey, come on out with YOUR HANDS UP RIGHT NOW. >> HANDS UP NOW. >> Hands up. >> May 31st, 2026. What began as an alert for a vehicle connected to an armed robbery quickly escalated into one of San Francisco's most violent encounters of the year. At approximately 10:29 p.m., license plate reader technology alerted officers that a suspect vehicle, a gray Toyota Camry with two occupants, had crossed the Bay Bridge and entered the city. Officers tracked the car through the south of Market neighborhood and attempted a traffic stop near Mission and First Streets, but instead of surrendering, the driver sped away, leading police on a pursuit through city streets. Minutes later, the chase came to an abrupt end near Beayshore Boulevard and Gerald Avenue when the Camry crashed into a concrete median. As officers ordered the occupants out, gunfire suddenly erupted. According to investigators, the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Norris Reed III of Oakland, opened fire on officers, striking officer Brittany Taylor multiple times and leaving him with life-threatening injuries. Three San Francisco police officers, Rachel Coransza, Jeremy Cateler, and Angela Mano returned fire during the exchange, critically wounding the passenger, later identified as Arunsana Dolors. But the danger wasn't over. As Officer Taylor fought for his life and officers rushed both the wounded officer and wounded suspect to the hospital, the alleged gunman escaped on foot, setting off a city-wide search that would continue into the early hours of June 1st. This is the body cam footage and timeline released by the San Francisco Police Department surrounding the shootout that critically wounded Officer Brittany Taylor. All right. Police arrested 36-year-old Norris Reed III without further incident and recovered two firearms, a40 caliber Glock 23 handgun and a privately manufactured 9mm handgun with no serial number. Reed is being held without bail and faces numerous felony charges, including four counts of attempted murder, assault with a firearm upon a police officer, resisting an executive officer with force or violence, reckless evading, conspiracy, and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. Passenger Aruns Sana Dulgors, who was wounded during the exchange, also faces four counts of attempted murder, assault with a firearm upon a police officer, resisting an executive officer with force or violence, conspiracy, and shooting from a motor vehicle. Meanwhile, officer Brittany Taylor continues her recovery, receiving treatment for the life-threatening injuries she sustained during the gun battle. The shooting remains under investigation by the San Francisco Police Department's Investigative Services Division and Internal Affairs Division, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, and the Department of Police Accountability.
