On December 31st, 2022, a Seol County deputy initiated a routine traffic stop for a simple stop bar violation. The situation quickly shifted when the driver claimed he had no identification and began cycling through fake names and fake birth dates to conceal active warrants. Hey, I just want to make sure I've got your name spelled correctly because nothing's coming back. >> Do you have a Florida driver's license? Where do you have a license out of? >> Okay. Where do you have a driver's license from? >> Huh? >> I don't have a driver's license. So, I don't >> Do you have an identification card? Anything with your name? >> From Puerto Rico. >> Puerto Rico. How long have you been in Florida for? >> Do you have a passport? Anything? A debit card? Anything with your name on it? >> No. I came in rushing this morning to come to Florida. >> Huh? >> I came rushing this morning to come from I didn't grab my pet. >> Okay. This is like the third time this has happened to me in a month. And every single time someone's got a warrant. So, if you just want to be straight with me and be the decent person and just say, "Hey, this is my name." We can make things go a lot quicker. Your name is Gabriel Diaz. You don't have a driver's license or ID card out of any state. >> You don't have any sort of information on you. >> Your option is we get a fingerprint scanner and then that's going to figure out who you are. Okay. Then we're going to put another bunch of other charges on you. So, shoot straight. Tell us your name. Somebody has Everybody has an ID somewhere. Plain and simple. Insurance card. Give us something with your name on it. Yeah. >> All right, man. Open this up. No, no, no, no, no. Hey, stop reaching and open the car. Deputies deployed a mobile fingerprint scanner to cut through the suspect's fake identities, revealing he was a habitual traffic offender with multiple active warrants. Meanwhile, a search of his backpack turned up over 80 g of methamphetamine alongside a collection of unusual personal items. Looking at how quickly this escalated from a simple traffic stop, do you think officers should use fingerprint scanners on every driver without an ID? Let me know your phone. Let me see who's on call. I just want to see if I can get a rough. Perfect. Have a scale on. Here's our old scale. >> Isn't that convenient? Just like the last guy. Oh, okay. What's your name? >> Gabrielle. What's your last name? Huh? >> Huh? Diaz. >> Diaz. Birthday? 12. >> 12? What? Is that the same birthday you gave him last time? What were you coming up with the 11 for? Listen, this isn't going to go well for you. I'm I'm letting you know that like this is not going to be good for you, okay? If we don't figure out who you are, you're not going anywhere. So, I don't want you to have any false pretenses that we're just going to let you go and everything's going to be hunky dory because it's not going to happen. So, we need to get your real name. We're not getting out of here until we get your name and we can associate a picture with your name. Okay. How long have you lived in Florida? >> Huh? Where'd you live before? >> Puerto Rico. And you've never got a ID or anything? >> Huh? Heat up here. All right, we got to figure out who the [ __ ] he is. Heat up here. Oh, thank you 100%. What's that [ __ ] in it? It's weird looking.
