It's a warm Florida Saturday at a local pool and bar area. Now, pay close attention to the four guys in the top right corner of the business's surveillance footage because this group of friends who may or may not have had one too many drinks are about to do something stupid. Well, at least one of them is just feet in front of them. They're eyeing a police cruiser and probably making jokes about it. That is until one man decides that jokes aren't enough and it's finally time to take a police vehicle for a spin. So he walks up to it, opens the door, gets inside, and then just moments later drives off. Ironically, at that exact second, another officer sees him, gets on the radio, and gives his exact description to all officers in the nearby area, including the police officer whose vehicle he just stole. Now, this all happened at 6:20. And just 3 minutes later, the officer whose car the man took tracks down his vehicle. And with the description fresh in his head, he sees a man matching the suspect's description, parks his car, and then goes to confront him. Get over here. Get over here right now. Hey, get over here right now. Turn around. Turn around. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Do not resist me. >> I'm not. I'm not. >> Do not resist. Once this case is closed, I'll provide all of the charges that stuck along with his actual sentencing and jail time down below in the pinned comment. However, for the two other defendants, their cases are both closed. Starting with the man who fled from officers when he was pulled over for driving without a license plate. He was charged with possession of an open container which was dismissed. He was also charged with no vehicle registration where adjudication was withheld. And his two more serious charges, driving while his license was suspended or revoked, which is a secondderee misdemeanor. He was adjudicated guilty as well as adjudicated guilty on resisting an officer without violence, which is a first-degree misdemeanor. In all, he was ordered to pay $653 in court costs and fines and was given 6 months of probation for resisting without violence. For the man who advanced on police with a knife in hand, he was given two charges of aggravated assault. One aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was also charged with resisting with and without violence. Resisting without violence was dropped. Aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer was also dropped. Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors took no action and the only charge the man was convicted of was resisting an officer with violence. He was adjudicated guilty and the judge imposed 3 years or 36 months of probation. He also paid $644 in court costs. And under his probation, conditions included anger management classes, a psychological evaluation, no weapons, no alcohol, or illegal drugs.
