thank you dude stop moving dude park the car man welcome back to the body cam Zone shortly after 9 pm on May 3rd 2021 a La Crosse police officer was on patrol and driving on La Crosse street through an intersection another vehicle traveling at approximately 45 miles per hour failed to stop for the red light and hit the patrol vehicle injuring the officer the officer was taken to a local hospital the driver Jacob schwalbeck also hit a spotlight damaging it and exposing its Live Wire during interrogation Jacob admitted to having smoked some weed earlier and was also on Xanax before we continue from like Menards yeah we were taking it right here to go home yeah okay and you didn't see that you had a red light or not did I see if I had a red light or not no okay so you smoke two hours ago some more hits yeah anything else the officer that attended to the accident carried out some field sobriety tests as expected Jacob didn't pass them the confirmatory breathalyzer test showed zero alcohol level proved that he had not drunk that night so his ability to properly operate the car was most likely impaired by drugs Jacob was arrested for OWI while causing injury place under arrest for OVI right now okay and testing it's a it's a paper okay I got Pusheen cops right we probably aren't going to hit that anymore but this won't take too long okay according to Wisconsin statute section 346.63 subsection 2. it is unlawful for any person to cause injury to another person by the operation of a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant a controlled substance a controlled substance analog or any combination of an intoxicant a controlled substance and a controlled substance analog under the influence of any other drug to a degree which renders him or her incapable of safely driving or under the combined influence of an intoxicant and any other drug to a degree which renders him or her capable of safely driving this offense carries a penalty of fines up to two thousand dollars and up to a year in prison thankfully the officer involved in the accident didn't suffer Serious injury and was shortly released from the hospital well that's all concerning
