On June 4th, 2026, I was dispatched to a reckless driver traveling eastbound on Interstate 40, first reported near mile marker 209. I positioned my patrol unit near mile marker 221 and waited for the vehicle to come into view. When it passed, it was traveling at approximately 60 to 70 mph, and I immediately initiated a traffic stop using emergency equipment. As I followed the vehicle, I quickly realized something was wrong. The driver appeared slumped over and unresponsive to surrounding traffic. Suspecting a possible medical emergency, I remained behind the vehicle as it continued for roughly 17 miles. Throughout the pursuit, I made repeated attempts to get the driver's attention by pulling alongside the vehicle and alternating siren patterns, but received no response. >> Careful.
