Hello. Good day all. On the night of May 2nd, 2026, at approximately 1000 p.m. m, officers with the Central Patrol Division responded to reports of an armed assault in the 700 block of North Hill Street. According to the initial emergency call, a man was allegedly threatening another person with multiple knives. When officers arrived, the reporting party immediately pointed them toward the suspect's location. Additional officers responded to assist, and the suspect was quickly located. Officers repeatedly gave clear verbal commands, instructing the man to stop and comply. Instead, he ignored those commands and continued walking away, attempting to evade officers as they followed him. As the situation continued to unfold, officers used a 40mm less lethal launcher in an effort to safely gain control of the suspect. The round struck the suspect twice. The suspect then fell to the ground, complied with officer's commands, and was taken into custody without any further. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the encounter. No officers or members of the public were injured. The incident is now under investigation by the department's force investigation division.
