What the [ __ ] Why you going to TAKE ME TO JAIL? WHY YOU GOING TO TAKE ME TO JAIL? LET ME resisting charge. >> LET ME TAKE SOME TEXT MY MOM THE >> LET ME TEXT THE GET HER. >> LET ME TEXT THE CODE. WHY AM I GOING TO GO TO JAIL? >> During traffic stop and instantly regrets it what started as a routin traffic stop quickly spiraled into a chaotic arrest after a young driver decided to turn a simple encounter into a confrontation with police. Officers initially pulled over a black Ford Mustang for what appeared to be a minor traffic violation. But from the very beginning, the driver displayed an unusually relaxed and sarcastic attitude, treating the entire situation like a joke. Instead of cooperating with the officers, he responded with jokes, arguments, and behavior that made it clear he had no intention of taking the stop seriously. Things became even more suspicious when officers asked for his driver's license and proof of insurance. The driver claimed that he wasn't carrying any identification. Since he had no physical documents, officers asked him to verbally provide his name and date of birth so they could verify his identity through their computer system. But there was a problem. The information he provided didn't match any records. >> Come on out. >> That was beyond stupid, man. >> Sorry. >> You You do realize you almost collided with another car. >> Sorry. >> Where's your license at? Yeah, it's on the back. >> In your in there? >> Yeah. >> Where's it at? >> In there. Do you mind if I look in it before you start? >> Where's it at? >> Is it in here or is it? >> Um, I think so. In my door. >> Is that your ID, ma'am? Do you need my ID? >> Yep. >> I wasn't driving. >> You were participating. >> ID, please. >> Do you need my ID? Because I wasn't driving. >> ID, please. Ma'am. Ma'am, >> I DON'T UNDERSTAND. >> STOP. STOP. STOP. STOP. Listen to me. Stop. You don't >> Stop. Stop. Stop. Calm down. Calm down. I'm going explain it to you. Okay. >> Oh, no. You don't get it. I'm trying to explain it to you. >> Okay. I want you. >> We are stopping. I'm going to If you stop talking, I would love to. >> Go ahead. Explain. >> Okay. You are in a vehicle that is being stopped. Okay. So, we are requesting your driver's license because we are allowed to. >> Totally. >> Okay. So, give my >> I will give you my ID. I just do not want to be getting in trouble for anything that I was not participating in. No. >> So, then let me have your driver's license, please. >> Well, I notic participating in it. >> I'm going to ask you one more time and then I'm going to take you out of the car and I'm going to put you in handcuffs. >> But you're going to put me in handcuffs cuz I wasn't participating >> cuz you're not cooperating. >> But I wasn't in [ __ ] If I wasn't driving, >> I'm gonna give you one last chance >> here, my guy. >> Thank you. >> But I wasn't participating in a >> Watch your knees. >> I'm sorry. >> Have a step back here. >> I'm so sorry. >> Falls under the racing statue and she's participating. >> So, I'm Deputy Wel. I'm with Lee County Sheriff's Office traffic. The reason why I'm stopping you was 109 >> in a posted 50 mph zone. >> Okay. >> Then you go the wrong way and almost collide with another vehicle. >> Okay. Why are we Why? >> I'm sorry. I wanted to be I'm sorry. >> I just >> Have you had any alcoholic beverages tonight? >> A little bit. >> A little bit. >> That's it. >> Okay. >> I'm not trying to be rude. I just I wasn't participating in >> I got it. >> I want to You want me to explain it? If he choose to do the racing statue, there is a charge for somebody participating and that is watching or being in the car with them. I don't think he's doing that, but he could. So, you just need to stop and let us do our job. >> You don't know your address? >> Do you have any documentation to show your new address? >> Yes. >> Is it on your phone by chance? I >> don't have my phone right now. >> Your phone was in the bag. >> That's my another phone. >> Is your phone in the car? >> Yes. >> Is it in the door here? >> Just stay right there. Stay right there. >> You mind if I get it? >> The female passenger chose to escalate the situation instead of helping to calm things down. From the very beginning, she appeared to stand firmly by the driver's side. Rather than encouraging him to cooperate with officers, she seemed to support his sarcastic and confrontational attitude, creating an atmosphere where neither of them took the stop seriously. She also appeared to question the officer's authority throughout the encounter. Despite repeated explanations from police, she acted as though the stop itself was unfair and treated the officer's requests for identification as unnecessary harassment rather than lawful procedures. However, everything changed once officers decided to physically remove the driver from the vehicle after his repeated refusal to provide his true identity. At that point, the reality of the situation appeared to set in. What may have started as an attempt to challenge the officers quickly turned into panic >> with my own car. You know what I mean? It's my fault. I just don't want to be in problem with it. >> Are you willing to submit to a field soiety exercise to dispel my fears that you're driving while under the influence? >> Sorry. Are you will do you speak English or >> debate? I understand too much. >> Would it be better if I have somebody come and translate for me? >> She she kind of >> No, I'm going to have a deputy. >> Yeah. >> Would it be better if you somebody that speaks Spanish that you understand what I'm saying? >> All right. Uh do we have an available translator uh for Spanish, please? >> I know you're doing your job helping out with this. >> I help you out with what? I don't know. I don't know what I'm helping you out with yet because we haven't done it. >> You're helping me with >> Exactly. Let's wait and let him do his investigation and then we can figure it out from there. >> Right now, >> are you in a bad situation right now? Well, no. I >> I'm just getting some things from you that makes me concerned about your ability to operate a motor vehicle. >> So close. So close. How about we move over like in front of your car? That one got really close to me. >> Scared car. >> Well, it's actually not her car. >> No, it's registered to somebody else. >> Scared dad. Scared. >> Yeah, but it's your dad's car. Go stand over there with my partner, please. >> He's not asking you the questions. Remember I told you we need to let him do his investigation and ask his questions. >> I get it. >> Her dad died. >> But the car is still registered to him. >> Yeah, I know. But I was just driving her car. It's all my fault. I know you are doing your job. >> I am. >> I don't speak too much English, but I just trying to enjoying all today my day with her. >> I got you. >> Everything is my fault. That's why I'm trying. >> What are we doing? >> Oh, waiting for a Spanish translator. >> Oh, okay. Where are we going again? My face. >> Sure. If you want to, you can sit back down in the car. You don't have to stand out. >> I just don't want you guys to be worried about anything. >> No, that's fine. >> Why you guys under my throat? >> Did you get it? >> Can you reach from this side? >> I just don't want you guys to thinking like I'm reaching for right there. >> No, you're fine. >> Stupid as he was doing it, I was like, "What the [ __ ] are you doing in my car?" I just don't want him to get in trouble. A ticket, whatever the he needs. I really don't want him to get arrested. I work Monday through Friday. I don't have time for any of this. I'm begging you. I don't >> You're begging the wrong person and you're not going to talk to them right now. So, it's not going to happen. They're going to do their investigation. The deputy's going to do what he has to do. >> I'm fine to drive like on everything. I'm fine to drive. I just told not to drive. Not even for the impairment or anything. I just didn't want anything to do with it. I don't know if you have any say in it, but I really just kind of just want kind of like a warning for him. Me driving my car back home. not going to happen. >> I can guarantee you're not driving this car away from here. I don't know what's going on with their investigation, but I can guarantee you 100% that you will not drive it. >> I know you're doing your job. I shouldn't be telling you what the hell I'm telling you right now. My car is under my father right now that is done. So, I really don't want any issues with my car. >> That's the last thing my father got me before he passed. That's the only thing I'm begging you guys for. >> We don't know what's going on and we're not going to know [snorts] until he's done with his investigation. So, let's not get all upset and worried about something that we don't even know that's gonna happen. >> I know you guys work. I know you guys work. You guys go to the extreme all the time. >> We go to the extreme all the time. We follow the statute. I get it. You guys >> the letter of the law. >> You guys follow your laws. I totally get it. >> No, they're your laws, too. They're the state of Florida laws. You live in Florida. I live in Florida. It's the laws of the state of Florida. So, >> I'm soing done with this, man. All right. >> Don't hurt your car. You're just telling me about HOW MY AND NOW YOU'RE going to hurt me. >> Don't hit your car. >> I don't want to WAIT FOR 10 MINUTES, 20 MINUTES FOR YOU GUYS TO TELL ME WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO. >> LISTEN, I need to tell YOU MY CAR. >> STOP. STOP. STOP. >> I NEED YOU TO TELL ME. >> You don't calm down. RELAX. NO, YOU'RE NOT. I promise you you're not. No, YOU'RE NOT. >> I'VE BEEN CALM AS I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU guys are going to DO IN MY CAR AND I'M STRESSED THE [ __ ] OUT. I NEED >> LISTEN, STOP. STOP. If you don't calm down, we're going to have you have a seat in one of our patrol cars. >> I don't need a seat. >> Then you need to relax. >> I need you guys to tell me what the [ __ ] I HAVE IN MY [ __ ] CAR. >> THAT'S ALL I NEED. >> I'm going to give IT TO YOU. >> TRYING TO BE a >> Take a breather. Relax. Okay, because you acting like this is not going to get this situation to go any faster. >> I need you to relax. >> I'm stressing out right now. I will tell you everything that's going on once I get to that point. But right now, >> we're not going to tell you what's going on until I figure out what's going on. >> I can't focus on you and focus on it. >> I don't think you do. >> I just want to know >> cuz I want to go home at night. >> SO DO I. YOU THINK I'M GOING TO BE HERE RIGHT NOW WHEN I WORK AT 5:30 IN THE MORNING? I don't want to do >> it. I need you to breathe. Otherwise, we're going to have you have a seat in the car. Fair enough. >> All right. Stay cool, calm, and collective for me. >> Is your vape a nicotine vape? Cuz that I could have helped you out with >> I don't know where the It's under the car, is it? >> Yeah, it's under the car. >> Can you get it for me? >> What? >> She dropped her her underneath her car and it might calm her down. She wants him to lay on the ground and get it up from underneath the car. >> Would that calm you down if you had it? >> Probably. >> Can you go under the car and get it? >> You can grab it, Alex. I couldn't. Thank you. Hoping this will calm her down a little bit. All right, back over here. >> Come back over here, partner. >> Hang out there. Calm down. You got your vape. We're just going to sit here and chill for a minute. >> I don't want to get in trouble with my car. >> I I prefer if if to have somebody translate. Hey, I'm going to need you to help me translate for a DUI. >> That's going to be the hardest DUI in the world. >> What do you mean? you'll follow. >> All you're doing is just explaining it. >> Yeah. I mean, hey, I'll do whatever you need me to do. All right, let's start. >> All right. So, >> I'm I was asking. >> No, no, no, no. Face me so you can hear him. Turn me. Turn. >> All right. So, I was asking if he was willing to submit to a field sobriety exercise to dispel my fears. He's driving under the influence. >> See, he says yes, you'll do it. >> Okay. So, what I need him to do is put his feet together, arm suicide. Perfecto. With whichever finger he chooses, touch the top of my pin for me. >> After several attempts, officers realized that the identity he had given simply didn't exist. At that point, they calmly explained that they were legally required to identify him. They warned the driver that if he continued refusing to provide his real information, he would have to be taken to jail, where his identity could be confirmed through fingerprinting. The warning did little to change his attitude. Instead of coming clean, the driver continued arguing with officers and challenging their authority. The situation became increasingly chaotic, especially as his passenger also became involved, making it harder for officers to conduct the investigation. With the driver continuing to obstruct the stop and refusing to cooperate, officers decided they had no choice but to remove him from the vehicle and place him under arrest. But even then, the encounter wasn't over. As officers attempted to take him into custody, the driver tried to negotiate and resisted their efforts. The struggle forced officers to use physical force to gain control and secure him in handcuffs against the rear of the Mustang. With the suspect finally restrained, the vehicle was impounded and the driver was transported to jail. What began as a simple traffic stop had now turned into a criminal case. According to police, the driver was ultimately facing multiple charges, including obstruction, providing false information to a peace officer, and refusing to comply during a lawful traffic stop. All of it could have been avoided if he had simply provided his real name from the beginning. Body camera footage captured the entire encounter, showing how a routine stop escalated because of one decision after another. >> No. >> Okay. He has no question and he understands. >> All right. Go ahead and begin. >> 1 2 1 100 3 1 4 1 >> All right. One sounds like six sounds. One sounds like eight. One sounds at 9. >> Stop. Relax. Put your There you go. >> Here you guys take him to jail. >> I don't know. I haven't been paying attention. >> Was it going over 100? >> Yeah, he was. But >> you're now being placed under arrest for driving while under the influence. You understand all of that? Sir or no? Yeah. [gasps and laughter] >> Let me knock him OUT ONCE. HE DOESN'T NEED to go 30 days in jail. [laughter] >> He doesn't have to go 30 days in jail. Please. Please. >> Thank you. Bye. My friend. I don't know. >> No problem. >> Yes. He's under arrest. >> 327 headquarters. >> 327. >> Don't hit the car. You're going to dent this car that you love so much. >> As the driver was being arrested, the passenger became increasingly emotional and aggressive, shouting at officers and struggling to accept that the encounter had escalated into a real arrest with serious legal consequences. In the end, what began as a routine traffic stop spiraled out of control, not because of the [clears throat] officer's initial actions, but because repeated decisions to resist and challenge lawful commands transformed a minor encounter into a much more serious situation. >> PLEASE DON'T TAKE MY CAR. YOU CAN'T TAKE MY CAR. YOU CAN'T TAKE MY PLEASE DON'T PICK UP MY CAR. >> WHERE IS YOUR PHONE? WHERE'S YOUR PHONE? >> I DON'T KNOW. SOMEWHERE IN THE CAR. I have to wear my job face. Take my car. >> That's blood from biting me. >> I didn't mean to take it at all. >> The male suspect, Alejandro, was originally charged with DUI. >> In the end, Alejandro's DUI charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. He pleaded no contest to unlawful speed, was ordered to pay a $276 fine, and was released back into the public. Kayla, on the other hand, pleaded guilty to felony battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly intoxication. Under the terms of her plea deal, the judge withheld adjudication, meaning she avoided a formal conviction. She was sentenced to 36 months of probation and was later released back into the community. What began as a chaotic encounter ultimately ended with both suspects accepting plea deals and avoiding lengthy jail sentences. Thank you for watching.
