I think in my car, I mean, he came over there, beat me up. I was in my car >> hit you? Oh, yeah, he hit me. He'll get So, where did they all this happen at? So, I had my GPS on, so I'm not I was coming from my first location, which is uh Wildwood, or wait, let's see. This simple afternoon quickly turns into an investigation when a driver claims he was run off the road, boxed in, and physically assaulted by two men. All right, Hearthstone Leesburg. So, I was coming I was I was coming from here going to Hearthstone of Wildwood, um which is somewhere around here, one of these So, you're on 44? Yeah, and I was going down and it was 40 40 uh they're going 45 and it was a 55, and I honked at them to try to try to get through cuz they were both blocking on the on the both of them. How far back was it that way? It was um Was it by Brownwood? Uh I don't know exactly. But, like I was like I tried honking at them to go through, and like he he just he slowed down more and like he kept with the space the space the space of the other vehicle next to him, and I'm like and so I tried going around and everything, and he he starts to come over and slams on his he starts to come over, slams on his brakes. I tried I tried I he was like I tried to go around, he sped he sped up and got in front of me, slammed on his brake again. I tried to go around again, he ran me off of the road, and then I was like I I I stopped, and then he got in front of me, and he I stopped. I was like, "Okay, fine, I'm going to stop then." And they both got out of the car, "What the [ __ ] do you think you're doing? You're going TO CUT ME OFF." AND EVERYTHING. LIKE CAME OUT ALL AGGRESSIVE, opened my door, kicked it, they started just both of them started punching me, and then um I'm like I'm like >> Was this at a >> sitting here kicking them off. >> Where how far you haven't been able to answer. I I totally understand where you're at. >> Sorry, I got a lot of stuff. >> not told me Sorry. where you're at. Was it a mile that way? Was it 2 miles that way? >> about a mile or two that way. Okay, do you Was it at a traffic light? It was where I first called, so if that helps. Give me a second. Let me I have no idea where you first called. >> I'll tell you what Just give me 1 second. Let me um So, yeah, I was supposed to come off here, and I was supposed to turn there, and I followed him down this way cuz he I told him to pull over, and he wasn't pulling over, so he he kept going, and he kept going down this way. But, I was supposed to go This is where it all happened, like right in this area. Like right in the in 44, like right in that area right there. Okay. The deputy [snorts] isn't just listening to what's being said. He's searching for physical evidence. A dented door and a bloody lip point to a struggle, but he still needs something more solid to determine who started it. At this point, [music] the victim hasn't been able to provide enough clear evidence to fully support his side of the story. So, Both of them hit you, or just one? >> They cuz I was I literally I was in my seatbelt still, and I was kicking my legs up like as they pulled the door open, and I had my I was laying back like this kicking trying to push back, and they were both like jumping right like Were they both on that side What side of the car? >> both I was like this fighting like pushing them them back. Okay. And I'm like like like this, and they're they're I'm like stuck like this, and they're both swinging at me and like trying to hit me. Okay. He the the one dude hit me in the gut, the younger one, um and then the older guy's the one that got me in the in the mouth. >> Okay. And like he was they were both just like swinging, and I'm trying to block as much as I can, like this. All right. And then when I tried when I when I I tried to push them back when and like close my door and get in here, and once I closed my door, they dropped they kicked it closed. Good afternoon, I'm Deputy Hanson with Sumter County Sheriff's Office. If you don't mind, let me ask you what happened. I'm trying to un- unwind all this. >> I wish we were recording, but this guy um so, you know the the Circle K over uh In Lake County? Uh no. The one down the road here where they got the Dollar General right inside? Yeah, that's in Lake County. So, he the whole time beeping the horn, and he he was jumping lane to lane, lane to lane. Okay. >> The old guy in the in a RV, and he was trying to make him swerve, trying to get And I'm doing the speed limit, the whole time beeping the horn. And then he gets to the where the crossing lane, and he tries to like hit my truck, I almost hit the guy, and then I did it back to him cuz I'm like to for him to go on the back his side, and then he pulled up in front of me in that little car [snorts] and slammed on the brakes. And he doing it, slamming on the brakes all the way till here. And then he stopped stopped right here in the in the middle of traffic like this. It's called barrel. All right, did you ever exit your vehicle? At the light I did. I got out, but he he took off. >> What light was it? I literally don't We're not from here. We just work around here. So, where did where did he slam on his brakes and >> from there to here. Okay. You obviously don't You're obviously not allowing me to finish my my uh sentence on what I'm trying to ask. Okay. And if I can't give that if I can't give a question, then you can't properly answer, and there's no way we're going to be able to talk. Okay. Cuz I'm trying [clears throat] to figure out about the dent in the door and his bloody lip. I didn't touch him. We didn't touch him. He didn't he he At no time at no time nobody jumped out of their vehicle. >> out. You confronted him? I didn't even get to the door. He took off. And then when I got back in the truck, he slammed on the brake again. The whole ride from over there to here. And then he crossed right there like sideways. And we started calling the we called 911 from down there. You mind if I see your hands real quick? You mind if I see your hands real quick? Just hold tight with me. Let me get things figured out. The suspects, accused by the driver of assault, seemed to take advantage of the situation. The driver claimed both men were swinging at him, but with no witnesses around, it was his word against theirs. I mean, I'll go. And if we took Is that dent from them? Okay, so I can't even take photos of that because Yeah, no, I got I already got all that. And it was the bigger dude that you said? They got me here, the younger one got me in the stomach. It was like punching the Pull up your stomach real quick. Let's see. I doubt it's anything, but Where did he hit you? Like right in the middle here. Any witnesses in this? Uh if anybody was on the road, yeah. But, it looks like it's a little tiny bruise there. When officers found themselves at a dead end with no clear evidence of who started the assault, the deputy took a closer look at the victim's car. He began comparing the footprints of both suspects, and what he found could finally bring some clarity to the situation. [music] Let's see the bottom of your shoe real quick. I'll see man. All right. You want to call 911? Call 911. Emmanuel and Carlos are now facing serious charges following the incident. Both were arrested on burglary with assault or battery with additional charges including criminal mischief tied to the vehicle damage. This all started just before noon. The suspects forced the victim to stop, approached his vehicle, and carried out the attack before walking away. The victim reported being struck multiple times, but was able to defend himself, and no life-threatening injuries were reported. Both suspects were later taken into custody, booked into the Sumter County Detention Center, and released on bond.
