Foothill Patrol Division officers were conducting extra patrol inside a local department store in the 8,500 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard due to recent thefts that had occurred several days prior. The suspect in these thefts had been identified as Gregory Peekar, who stole a large quantity of clothing items from the location. As the officers walk through the store, they recognize Peekar in the men's clothing aisle, kneeling on the ground, holding a large number of jeans in his arms. The officers approached Peckare, and as they began speaking with him, Pear attempted to flee on foot. As he fled, Pear struck his head on a clothing rack before stumbling to the ground. The officers gave chase, and a non-catategorical use of force occurred. The officers used physical force, firm grips, and body weight to ultimately take Peckar into custody. A portion of this incident was captured on security footage from inside the department Four. here is body warn video from the officers involved in this incident. >> Hey, right here, dude. Right here. Hey, turn around. Put your hands behind your back, dude. Hey, stop. Stop. Hey, >> get on the ground. Get on the ground. Stay on the ground. Let me get a back. Stop fighting. Roger. Stop fighting. >> Stop fighting. Stop fighting. Stop fighting.
