had big plans for a video today and at the very last second they fell through and the plans changed so I wasn't able to make the video I wanted to make unfortunately so I will have to save that for another day so I'm improvising right now and we're still going to travel up the ways just a little bit we're still gonna check out a location a [Applause] [Music] little ways up from where I live in Montgomery there is a lake called Lake Jackson what's a day we're on Lake Jackson Island Lake Jackson Island is a movie set half filmed this movie set before you can see that I'll put it right here but I filmed it and didn't spend a whole lot of time on it because I had a lot of other locations to add to it so this being being thrown together at the last minute I decided you know today would be a great day to check out the town of Spectre from the movie big fish actor he goes through the the dark forest he's also built on this island but after years of decay they had to tear it down and come up to these trees where he comes through and sees the city man look at that rainbow in the background that's awesome the reason why the rainbow is there is because it is just not my day I left the house bright and sunny and by the time I traveled up here to where this movie said is it started raining on me comes through the two trees you can see the lawn with the shoes on it [Music] brain is letting up so the rainbow is disappearing now I think to know about these trees is although they look very real they are very fake I'll show you this tree is steel pipe and styrofoam and it's painted there were a lot more sets on the property for the movie most of them though were only built with three sides just for the movie just for production and then to be torn down well after some time the elements took over and destroyed most of the buildings for example this building here was in the movie and if you remember correctly there was a gentleman sitting on the porch right here playing a banjo that gentleman was also in the movie deliverance who was playing the banjo the same song in both movies they have the door pulled too so you can't see inside the gentleman would have been right here [Music] us the street from it is another cabin like one building on the property that they actually filmed on the inside or there's another house here quickly across the street from it there is this cabin over here to the right and this open area would have been where the general store was Edward bloom long time after the movie was made you couldn't come visit the island like you can now [Music] you see the the shoe line where people have thrown their shoes up this is I guess they took them down that and to keep the line from breaking and this is where they put them and also see right here on the board where I was here when I made the big fish filming locations video earlier this year when I came and made that video this one has a number 26 above the door it is deer an earthen building here behind me is the most important building on the set it's the mayor's house and the reason it's the most important is because it's the only building here that they filmed on the inside of [Music] you see the fireplace would have been going there would have been a table right here with the two guys sitting at it the little girl comes underneath and unties the shoes to take them out and throw them on the line [Music] and the last place we're gonna check out this is just a model of a church that actually exists and Lowndes borough Alabama they built an exact replica of it to use inspectors again the building's hollow and the only thing that's inside of it is a local goat population that have now taken over on the island starting to rain on me again so I'm gonna end this video there and I'm gonna head on home I hope you enjoyed a little deeper look at the town of Specter thank you for watching and I will see you tomorrow [Music]
