hi I'm Shira Grant a police Sergeant with the Milwaukee Police Department I'm the public information officer and I also oversee the Office of Public Relations the Milwaukee Police Department recognizes that transparency facilitates increased trust between law enforcement and the community that we serve therefore we are giving the community a briefing about the October 10th 2018 officer involved shooting death this community briefing is intended to provide you the community with relevant video footage audio recordings photographs and other evidence to inform you about what occurred based upon our understanding at this stage in the investigation pursuant to Wisconsin state law every death involving a police officer is investigated by an outside and independent law enforcement agency therefore the officer involved shooting that occurred on the 6200 block of North 101st Street on Milwaukee's Northwest side is still under investigation by The wossa Police Department wossa police has informed us that their understanding of this incident may change as forensic tests are completed evidence is analyzed and other interviews are conducted please keep in mind there are often several hours of video audio and other electronic evidence along with hundreds of pages of reports that must be reviewed nonetheless we wanted to brief the community regarding this incident up to this point this community briefing was not created to embarrass any officer or any individual involved for the privacy of the citizens involved we've blurred out their faces to conceal their identity the images and information you are about to see is disturbing when a police officer uses Force against a subject or defend against an attack it can be graphic and difficult to watch in addition you may hear strong language used by those in this video viewer discretion is advised hello I am Joseph mclin captain of the homicide division for the Milwaukee Police Department in this community briefing
