in the little town of Wetumpka Alabama checking out the filming locations for the Tim Burton classic the big fish it's the first jail if we don't go right there this little beauty building there sure isn't a whole lot to it to be the very first jail for the city which the city is really small the House of Edward bloom there's people living there so I don't want to get too close and disturb them but still there and it looked exactly the same for that it was all the riches a man could ever want again so I didn't disturb the residents I didn't take video of the pool you can see here the same shot from that video right here is where Edward bloom was given the keys to the city as you can tell a few buildings have changed but not much [Applause] [Music] the old First National Bank that it in norther Rob sign on the left said something else in the movie and there was a building in the background that's gone now is horizon savings and loan which in real life was a pharmacy robbed I mean that it'd and northern robbed a neat little sign adds to the ambience so here in 1995 they filmed a movie the grass horror starring Walter Matthau there was a parade that came right across this bridge and went right down the street right through the middle of downtown there was also a scene from afar probably from a helicopter where you can see it were driving his red car across that bridge not related to the movie this building is hollow underneath stay in April 8 1938 the Coosa River rose to this level which is considerably high and said when I do not see any water it wasn't from this location but right there is where they shot the car driving across the bridge probably from a helicopter or something interesting artwork somebody has climbed out on this under bridge platform just to draw a picture 20 minutes in the opposite direction we arrived at the town of Spectre cool thing to note about this island it was built completely from scratch just for this movie appear there are more shoes been added to the vine then what we're there during the movie but still nevertheless it's pretty neat to know all this was built just for a movie and it still stands [Music] you can see here the wonders of moviemaking what appears to be a real tree is made out of steel pipes and styrofoam movie magic built just for the movie have no interior they didn't need it they only wanted the outside shots so the interiors are just Hollow and it would appear although hunger that way some movie props or there's an electrical box left behind from the movie lots of people can come and visit this site now the owners of it have recently opened it for tourism all of the buildings are now falling down but nevertheless it is still really cool to see this in person you I was flying my drone around and lost signal and crashed it over there next to the church hopefully that's it gonna be okay the old church building now is home to chickens yeah side the old church house still looks to be in pretty good shape I said the inside is a chicken house now place exteriors and what appears to be brick there's nothing more than fiberglass and sure enough it looks like brick but all it is is fiberglass that's pretty interesting the mayor's house here's the fireplace from the movie that they had burning it's pretty much nothing else in here except for the fireplace though everything else is just an outside frame and paneling instead of taking over the property you and the concrete patios aren't really concrete patios for the movie magic it's just two by fours with a layer a thin layer of concrete on the top of it now this whole building is falling apart I'm not being careful up I don't know if we could even really get in here it's got a platform it's all falling down so I'm not going to attempt to walk out on it just like all the rest of them completely Hollow this last and final house it's been completely gutted and you can see where the roof is falling in from decay just because it's not being taken care of anymore they've built a platform just to come off the back door there but nothing else it's all empty you were expecting me well what is this player Ginny's house would have been located where the giant and it knocked it over 20 minutes away we arrived in Montgomery at Huntington College which was set as Albarn University in the movies the famous scene where he comes over to the water fountain sticks his hands in and splashes it on the Isle of Sandra would have been right there interesting note this was chosen to be Auburn only because of its gothic exterior because it looks nothing like Auburn University the skywriting would have said I love Sandra and a heart right here he would have came right here to meet Sandra and propose this is the sorority house which now says it's the Jackson home [Music] another interesting case of movie magic Carl's cave the giant when it were bloom first meet team that cave was fabricated out of styrofoam and that was actually a boat ramp right here I you can compare the pictures I took against the pictures from the movie it was a boat ramp and they built the cave out of styrofoam and put all the debris on the ground so that you couldn't see the concrete boat ramp but there are some identifying markers you can see behind Edward the rocks that come out into the water and come back to the left you can see that same those same rocks in my shot also the picture where the rocks are coming across the water and you can see the church in the background I have you can see those same rocks although it's grown up so I don't know if that church is still in the background or if it was added for the movie but you can see those same rocks looking in the same direction if you look above their heads you can see the sand bar and rocks and you can see the exact same sand bar right above his shoulders although the angle is a little different you can see the jagged rocks with the water coming through and now you can see them here as well like I said the angle is a little different and this tree is not real it was placed just for the movie configuration I said upon my plan to make a bigger place for myself in there [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] we've been the spot from the flashback sequence where he was playing basketball he would have shot it from right here right up into the goal he would immediately turn it over and looked at the school board which said Tigers on one side Bulldogs on the other o'clock would have been down 2-0 causing the Tigers to win the game now obviously this is a different school board but that school board used to be the school board here for this school which is Capitol Heights junior high in that same shot when he's preparing a shoot you can see all the fans back here lined up on the benches there's another bench that was pulled out and set here for the extra players [Music] this is the this is the spot right here Edward balloon shot the ball and won the game from right here the camera would have been just above gold level on the other side of the goal as he was shooting towards it [Music] good and here is the rest of that segment the baseball field and the football field they are all one huge field here every beginning of the sequence the guy is throwing the ball he would have been standing right here throwing it down to Edward it would smacked it the goal the the scoreboard was positioned right over there to the left of that light pole just for the movie as soon as my bones have settled in a configuration I said upon my plans makes it a good place for myself an entrance the shot would have been from right here where he hit the ball and it flies out and goes through the school board they would have said Tigers across all that right here after he hits the home run it immediately cuts to this shot with the guy sitting here at the end of this bench you can see the press box in the background that says Tigers and at the very end of that sequence after the player stand up and start moving this way you can actually see the pole here right behind his head now this chain-link fence surrounds this dugout was added after it wasn't here during the movie if I'm not mistaken I want to say that the poles were here if I remember correctly but I know the fence was not here during the movie and they would have had stands which actually would be these stands here that they are using for football now because it's football season here they move those and had one set here and another set over there on that side [Music] they would have started the football sequence right here where it's at home of the Tigers on there the cheerleaders out front cheering on the football players you can see this press box has fallen into disarray and hasn't been taken care of as a matter of fact the last time it was painted was probably when they finished making the movie they repainted it back to these school colors [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you can see here in this behind-the-scenes shot the press box in the field immediately see Edward you can see the school board in the background with another piece on the top of it that said Tigers but you can see him run with the football here and he steps on the players back and runs it down he would have been running with the ball pretty much the same way I am going right now hit it this way and he would have ran down and he would have spiked the ball right in here is where he would have spiked it down that and again the camera pans around and you can see that school board in the background and then it cuts back over to a cheerleader over here who says Edward bloom with the baseball field over there here's the pole with their school board this spot of land right here is where they had the scoreboard that the ball went through when the guy jumped off the front of it they built it right here just for the movie as soon as the movie was done they tore it
