I don't know if you remember or not but I mentioned this anvil in another video as well as this big piece of machinery here behind me I'll put that video right here so you can go back and watch it but today we're going to check out the inside of this museum there's also a big anchor let's go inside and check out the inside of the museum today right when you come in the door they have cases with artifacts set up in this very first case there's a pair of drumsticks these drumsticks were used in Napoleon's army they were brought to America in 1819 this was made by the Apache Indian chief Geronimo while he was imprisoned here at Mount Vernon was used by the first Dodge dealer here's a gavel that was used in the US Senate there's an old safe and a very early camera I actually just learned something new this giant camera was owned by Edgar Cayce the sleeping prophet I didn't know he lived here in Selma at one time but Edgar Cayce was the guy who would be in a trance or asleep and the Prophet he could sometimes tell the future and he answered questions and healed quite a few people total their diagnosis he first found out that he had the gift within a family member I believe it was a family member was sick and he went into the trance and he was able to tell them how to heal themselves but it went as far as he talked about Atlantis the end of the world and other things like that Edgar Cayce has a pretty large cult following around the country and I did not know that he actually lived here in Salem at one time but this large giant camera was used by Edgar Cayce when he lived here the difference in these two cameras this one has to have its own stand comes way back and now look at him [Music] from the ceiling here this whole case here is a collection of old typewriters [Music] [Music] here's another display case with some old bullets and canister shots all these bullets [Music] [Music] [Music] and now we enter a room that is dedicated to the Bloody Sunday newspaper the Selma times drama after the Bloody Sunday and the March happened here was an official Dallas County Sheriff uniform that was actually worn on Bloody Sunday this uniform was wore by Officer Lamar Salter during the Bloody Sunday attack the owner tells me that there is something even more precious regarding the Bloody Sunday attack then that uniform yeah this last Cade is the sweater of dr. Martin Luther King jr. it was kept at the home of Jean and Sullivan Jackson here and even is the hospital Sunday all the patients this was worn around the arm of the Dallas County Sheriff's Department on Bloody Sunday all these here are all the tickets that were issued that day these are the arrest tickets which are all for parading without a permanent at that time that bond was $200 we're gonna hit to the outside portion of the museum now and see what they got out here I already see a fire truck off in the distance here this is going to be probably my favorite part of this museum I've been talking with the owner and so she is giving me free rein she's opened up all the doors for me and allowing me to see whatever I want and I can climb inside and check out whatever I want to check out here the owner of this museum told me that this firetruck was donated to the mayor of Whitehall and he took it and instead of putting it up for show restoring it whatever he took it and put it in his backyard and it set there for years and years and years several years ago he called a tow truck to take it to a scrapyard and get money for it the tow truck driver then turned around and called this museum the tow truck driver said the scrap price is this much if you can come up with that much I'll bring it to you instead of scrapping it so they came up with the money and was able to purchase it then instead of letting it go to scrap where it would have been destroyed forever I just can't believe he was gonna send it to the scrapyard though instead of saving it sitting off to the back of the property is this building here this is there a firefighter Museum and I'm going to tell you I was completely shocked when I walk through the door check this out [Music] [Music] but what's even more impressive is what was behind me look at this for starters here's a Model T it runs you can drive it around look at these [Music] [Music] it's a whole lot different than the fire extinguishers we use now [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] of course that doesn't have power steering like we know today here's their gauges I mean miles they got I guess that's how fast they were going treasurer's battery amps what really gets me though is that this thing still works these lights you can see here and there's one in the front both of them still work as well it's hard to believe that something from this time period is still in this good of shape it has not been restored it is in its original condition but it's been inside of a garage or fire station it hasn't been out in the weather this place here is is like gold the Model T is actually from the 20s as well see here I can't believe I'm actually sitting in a Model T you're watching this right now in the mirror of the Model T I can't believe this place even existed and I haven't even been here yet you've got to check out this toilet is a primitive tool that I'm gonna say we are up here in the top part of the caboose where you can see out the window and inside of the train car you get no cell phone signal this museum is absolutely amazing it has a lot of history in it so if you're ever down here to visit in Selma Alabama I recommend you come by and see this museum it's amazing so I'm at home now I recorded a lot more footage than what I could put in this video because it's already above 17 minutes and I don't want to make it too long because then I will lose your attention and my watch time will drop so I'm gonna go ahead and in the video there I will be out again tomorrow for tomorrow's video so be looking forward to that tomorrow night I want to thank you all for watching I'll see you tomorrow [Music]
