Hello, my name is Jack Kelly. I'm a detective with the major crimes division for the Milwaukee Police Department. I'm here to ma today to make a public service announcement about a recent trend that we're seeing with stolen vehicles. What we're seeing is vehicles that use a fob start or a push button start are being stolen with an increasing frequency. This trend is not unique to Milwaukee. It's actually developing nationwide right now. This trend can be avoided with your vehicle by using a visible theft deterrent, aka something like the club or a interlock device on the pedals or possibly an electronic device like a kill switch or an aftermarket alarm. We strongly encourage owners of any vehicle in the city that uses a push button start or a fob start to secure that vehicle with an additional theft deterrent to avoid that vehicle from being stolen.
