hi I'm Sergeant Sharonda grant with the Milwaukee Police Department over the past few days MPD has responded to shootings where children have retrieved an adult's firearm and have either shot themselves or someone else to prevent this from happening to you or your loved ones impeding as we have done in the past are offering free gun locks to our community members you can go to any district station to retrieve a free gun lock without any questions asked this is for your safety and for the safety of your loved ones at this time I'm going to demonstrate how to properly use a cable gun lock first make sure the firearm is unloaded and that there is no bullet in the chamber the next step is to insert the cable inside of the ejection port through the magazine will next you will firmly secure the cable into the locking mechanism lock the gun lock remove the key and pull firmly on the cable make sure you place the firearm in a safe location away from children take the key and place the key in a safe location away from the firearm once again I am sergeant Sharonda grant with the Milwaukee Police Department providing our community with the PSA on how to utilize a gun safety lock thank you for watching have a great day
