[Music] i'm officer erica tolentino and i've been with the milwaukee police department for over 12 years and i have never seen a pandemic like covet 19. well now to our coverage on the coronavirus pandemic the number of positive tests jumped again today when i joined the police department i thought i was going to be here fighting crime i did not think that something along the lines of a virus would ever make people have to stay at home the seven day rolling average of new cases hit a record high the state now has more than 47 thousand cases the death toll now stands at 891. my husband and i are both milwaukee police officers so obviously it's a unique situation at home and our children are still pretty young they're only three and five when we are done with work for the day we both wear our uniforms home but then once we get home the only equipment that we bring into the house is our actual uniform and when we get at when we get home it just goes straight into the washing machine and it gets washed [Music] at the beginning of our shift my partner and i pull our squad in and we decon it and we spray bleach and water solution and clean the inside of the car both the front where we sit and then also the back seat we all are carrying latex gloves and masks to be used if need be and then we also have personal protective equipment the ppes that at certain calls if we need to use them they're there for us to use if we need them i would just like to say thank you for donating the items that you've given to the police department obviously anything with regards to the ppe equipment we really appreciate it because now we have it here for us when we need it
