oh man what a beautiful day today it's 70 degrees and nice and sunny it's beautiful I love it when I don't have to bundle up and wear long sleeves and I don't like to be cold [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's such a beautiful day I couldn't leave town to travel anywhere but I couldn't stay shut up inside it's just too pretty out here so if you hadn't paid attention to the sign behind me back there I'm doing it with the riverfront park in Montgomery I have been here before I did vlog it before Oh put it right here if you want to go back and watch it so I'm not gonna spend a whole lot of time showing everything that is around here I just came down to fly the drone and have a little fun unfortunately today the riverboat is not out here which would normally be in the water right there I don't know if it's out on a cruise or getting maintenance done to it but it's not here and the riverboat provides some good pictures so it kind of sucks that it's going here on this wall right here beside me they have accomplishments that the city of Montgomery is known for 1887 the first electric streetcar system 1897 the first automobile comes to Montgomery 1900 Selda Fitzgerald remember her right we went to the F Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald house several episodes back I'll put it right here if you want to go check that out but Zelda Fitzgerald her husband F scott Fitzgerald wrote the book The Great Gatsby 1910 the Wright brothers established the world's first flight school a fly school is now part of Maxwell Air Force Base in 1919 Nat King Cole was born here in Montgomery Alabama it's something that I haven't discussed yet but the famous jet jazz and blues musician Nat King Cole was born right here in my hometown and in 1948 Maxwell becomes Maxwell Air Force Base which is the Wright brothers flight school [Music] so today has been pretty good for this channel we had several shout outs one came from Karl the madman he received a letter I sent him with stickers and gave the channel a big shout out and the second one was from Dave Hughes and I talked about Dave quite often and some of you may not know who he is but Dave Hughes is a youtube critic he watches other vloggers of the youtubers and then gives feedback go home now what Dave had to say about this channel was he's basically ribbon that I didn't title the video right and that's why it only had 11 views of course it has a lot more now everybody's gotten up and watched it but that's okay I am ecstatic that even mention my name with that being said I want to thank Carl and I want to thank Dave for mentioning my channel giving me a shout out I want to thank you both and if you haven't seen either one of those two after this video is over you can check it there are a link in the description that will take you to their pages and you can check out their videos and if you like their work go ahead and subscribe to them if you're not already subscribe to them [Music] down to the riverfront several times a tower that you can see right there I've never been in it want to walk up there and take a look off of that thank goodness they have an elevator that means I don't have to walk up all these stairs the third floor it leads across to a parking deck and it goes over the top of the train track and now we've made it to the lookout area which pretty much just looks out over the Alabama River interstate here no Harriet riverboat though I had no idea that there was an elevator there well I intended on being completely exhausted from having to climb all of these stairs [Music] [Music] one thing that just kind of rare those the Harriet's not here and since it's not here you can get down to the book they store extra kayaks there's some surfboards and here's a pontoon boat even they do what they call dragon boat races and those dragon boats launch from right here me personally I don't do a whole lot of swimming unless it's in a poem I don't do rivers I have been swimming on a lake but you know the whole time I was contemplating what was beneath my feet you know where they're snakes or whatever and I have been in the ocean as well but the last several encounters where I was in the ocean at one point a soirée shark swam by my wife and I always see jellyfish and that frightens me a little bit so I don't do a whole lot of ocean I can swim but I choose to do it in a pool [Music] this is the amphitheater a lot of shows go on here at this amphitheater and a little fun fact during the summer time on the second Saturday of every month during summer they have a block party out here they'll have bands play they have giant inflatable screens and they'll play a movie late at night they shoot fireworks fireworks off over the river here they have vendors come and set up and it's a lot of fun and it's free on the side of this building city of Montgomery birthplace of the civil rights movement and the cradle of the Confederacy as I'm walking over towards the silos what's interesting is look at the rays of Sun coming through the clouds [Music] I guess he's looking down on us right now is what that means huh this is the sandbars now they named it the sand borer and normally during the summer they put sand all out here in the front of it for you to walk on but other than that there's really no the sand we're nowhere near a beach the last place I wanted to show you from the ground is what Montgomery calls their splash pad the splash pad is open during summer months they don't have it turned on right now obviously because of the temperature and the weather but this whole area has water jets that shoot up it's free entertainment you can come down and let your kids play in the water kind of like a water park and it doesn't cost you anything especially on the days I was referring to the second Saturdays of each month well the parents are down there listening to some good music drinking a beer the kids are up here playing in the water oh I've enjoyed spending the day out enjoying this beautiful weather now I think I want to get an aerial view of it [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I want to show you a close look at an old mural that's been here painted on the wall for a long time I am very nostalgic and I love seeing old stuff like that you may remember this building coming up right in front of me retreated to to not only and Adam the whoa video today but a KC nice tat video today too so altogether today's been a good day I hope you enjoyed this episode today is such a beautiful day and I couldn't leave town that I just wanted to get out and fly the drone and enjoy this beautiful weather so I want to thank you for taking time out of your day to watch this video so thank you all for that and I'm gonna go ahead and end it now and I'll see you tomorrow you guys have a great night [Music] [Music]
